Great... Masters of the Universe: The Skylanders Edition...

In all fairness, it wasn't even really Sharon Apple's fault... the computer model of a human mind she was built on was populated with emotion data from Myung Fang "I have issues" Lone, and then that idiot Marj Gueldoa installed a processor that might as well have had a label "CRAZY INSIDE" into her to make her autonomous.
Yeah... in retrospect, perhaps someone should have screened whomever was going to provide emotional data via a psych evaluation, although no one knew that Marj "I'm gonna go skydiving off the Macross without my parachute" Gueldoa was planning to try to make Sharon autonomous. At least they didn't use HIS emotional data for her!
If he wanted something "truly unpredictable", he should have befriended Basara Nekki and then tried keeping track of his whereabouts!

Thanks. Understood. I am just trying to gauge the magnitude of error in my own analysis.
Then here's a suggestion:
1) find Macross (or whichever of the series you haven't watched) on a streaming site, pap per view, DVD, etc.
2) Watch the series and take notes.
3) Come to your own conclusions and post those on your site.

Shamelessly farming out information to put in that “academic” blog about Macross he does without actually watching it?
I have a term for that:
Plagiarism.
At the very least, it's intellectually dishonest.

Have the out-of-universe creators of the show somewhat acknowledged the commentary on drones and whaling? Do these allegories have a stronger foundation than assertions about SDF Macross having some World War 2 subtext? Or is all of this analysis just plainly obvious when one watches the series, which I have not.
Thanks
If you haven't watched the series, then why does it matter to you?

That's exactly what I do - he's even using the Flory clay based wash I've used. Works great on the Bandai DXs.
Okay. On that note: some some odd reason I thought I was talking with Peter! lol Been a long week!

I don't recall where I read it, I think it was Great Mechanics.DX 14, but I remember it being said that fully autonomous unmanned fighters are restricted as heavily or nearly as heavily as the usage of (thermo)nuclear weapons and that their usage was strictly prohibited except in very specific circumstances.
I think that says a great deal about the potential damage and casualties fully autonomous fighters could cause in given circumstances. They don't have the same discernment a human being would, and I also imagine that it would be too easy for the fighter to get into a situation where command override by base may not be available/ be offline.

Haven't built anything all week, maybe more, so I finally have something on the workbench.
Nothing exciting report though, just another AMT Star Trek kit. I really wanted to do a Macross build, but I'm not sure I'm ready for the 1/48 Strike yet. Need more practice.
Anyway, what's in the box.
The thing is huge compared to the Refit.
Comes with shuttles you'll never see.
The only raised panel lines are on the bottom of the nacelle and some other minor details. At this scale, they don't look horrible, but on the 1/2500, it looked like a ribbed Trojan.
I might cut those shuttled and figure out a way to display them outside of the ship.... Let's see if I'm not too lazy to do it.
Look at that AMT Star Trek precision fit!
Apparently retooled extra detailed parts?
Different bridge domes for different versions of the Excelsior.
G-Cal Aztecs
The kit decals do not come with the strong back decals, and neither do the G-Cal decals.
Feeling pretty lazy lately, I don't think I feel like masking and painting all the blue bits, so I ordered the Polar Lights Aztecs anyway. Guess I'll have a complete set of decals for a second ship then (Polar Lights Aztec kit comes with two sets of Strong backs... One blue, and the other blueish green.).
Anyway, not a proper AMT Star Trek build without copious amounts of cursing... Stay tuned.
Well, one thing I would do with that kit is a light sanding with maybe 250 -400 grit sandpaper of the grid on the upper saucer. Not remove it, but to knock down some of the "puffiness" that looks to be present around the grid lines (being careful of the phasers, of course!).

I'd take the Red Comet over Messer.
That could be good !
I'd take The Red Baron (Snoopy's foe) over Messer anyday.
Heck, even the three spies aboard the SDF-1 would be preferable.

Wow...looks like the barrels broke. I'm so sorry.
Can you reglue them?
UPDATE: the elevator for my Transformers Activity Center pretty much ate itself the other day when i tried putting in new plexiglass, and upon testing it, the car's support system shattered, the line snapped and the top of the shaft gave way.
So... this is what I am doing now:
1) rebuilt the shaft (no pics yet due to folks not being able to tell what the mess is supposed to look like! lol
2) Built an all-new elevator car using cardboard, styrene and plexi. The top is reinforced so the disaster from the last time won't happen again, And...
3) I'm installing an electric motor along with a DPDT switch, to allow one button on a rocker to bring the elevator up or down.
This project will be the first time I've ever done wall current, so I contacted some expert help to ensure I don't burn my base down, torch my collection and possibly fry myself (extra crispy recipe.)_
We'll see how all of this goes; it's had it's ups and downs.
Stay tuned folks...

Evangelion lost me after watching the "end" of the original series, and I could never get back into it even with all the "rebuilds" and whatnot. All I can imagine is at some point, Shinji becoming a psychotic mass murderer due to all the mind-screwing he's endured, combined with his own inherent faults. Asuka...not much I can say other than "run away screaming", Gendo came across to me as just human garbage that really needed a bomb to the gourd, and the rest of the cast...erm...
... I'll be over at the concession stand.

You might need to do both sides? Otherwise they may not match.
They should match; I'm working from multiple pics of this part.
Latest pics:
I decided to define the indent at the end a little better, and clear coated it one more time for good measure. I also took the time to compare with other pics of the VF-19F's head online, to check the part and how it would attach.

That is a problem with the Dune-series. Things happen that end up taking the next novel or the next next novel to come to fruition. And it's hard to convey that, in what may be, a standalone. Syfy's version was able to convey that because they had more time (Syfy has more than double the run time of Lynch's version) and were able to bring Dune Messiah and Children of Dune to screen (and there was still more). Dune needs time, both within the fiction and for the audience, to tell its story. Unfortunately, it may not have it.
I think perhaps then that the best way to do Dune is as a regular series on something like Netflix, where they can do all the episodes and drop them "as a book". Each season could be a "book" then, and hopefully convey the grandeur of the saga, while giving each the time it needs to work.

Okay... here's the final pics on this. I did my best to get the end of it "cut-in":
It's been painted and clear-coated, but I may hit it with one more shot of clear to get it to the correct shine for you. This will be on its' way on Monday, as promised.

Yes it's metric. Looks great so far!
Great! I just got the last detail done and it's currently drying from the polishing and painting I did (gloss black to match the other piece you showed).
Going to shoot you a PM so we can discuss details.

Oh cool. So you're carving and cutting?
Yeah; I just need to make sure it's the appropriate size and shape given the measurements.
7 hours ago, aurance said:Wow, thanks so much for the effort pengbuzz. Yes I’m in the US. If you’re able to do it and send me a picture I can PayPal you the fee, then you can send it? Something like that?
Sure; I just need to dremel in the indent in the front of the part. I also need to polish and paint it so it looks appropriate for your Valk.
Let me show you what I have so far; I'm pretty sure the measurements you showed were the metric side of the ruler, so I used that standard. I want to make sure it's exactly what you need before I send it out, so please let me know if anything doesn't look right:
In your photo, the piece was a slight tad over 1mm, so I tried to get as close a match to that in plastic thickness:

What's your medium @pengbuzz ?
I'm using black ABS plastic that I culled from an old printer.

Okay, got measurements on it. Thanks; let me see what I can do with this,
BTW: are you in the US or elsewhere?

@peter I do weather them slightly, minimal effort to fit into my collection. I don't think I've posted them here. I do paint my gears white (it makes such a difference). I'll post some group pictures when I do my VF-1D in the next few weeks.
Have you ever considered the benefits of a sludge wash?

Macross Chronicle doesn't put quite as much emphasis on the self-preservation instinct aspect. On the Glossary Sheet (17A) entry for it, it credits the New UN Government's ban on the technology more to the fact that the chips produce unpredictable behaviors that have a significant chance of the AI running on the chip going out of control.
Given that the Macross Concern was using data from the Sharon Apple project and bio-neural processors themselves in an attempt to make their next-generation unmanned fighter more effective by making it able to respond in less predictable ways, it seems like Myung's neuroses were the Grand Central Station for calamity.
Understood; the lines from the anime seeme to give it more weight.
