  1. Realised I posted into the wrong thread concerning the topic.

Yeti or anyone else, would you know how well does the included stand connector for the VF-31J fit with your stand arms?

Essentially, does anyone know if the included display connector enormously bulky?

  2. Yeti, how well does the included stand connector for the VF-31 fit with your stand heads?

Also, how "slimline" is it?  The one you made for the YF-29 is leagues better than the one which was included.  So much less bulky.

Basically, question is - will the VF-31 included connector not appear to be maniacally bulky on your stand arms?

  3. Considering the armour packs which came and were so very well integrated and presented for the 25s and 29, it's surprising how disjointed and out of place they look on the 31.

This I say also that the Valkyrie looks so amazing and so well designed.  The armour packs seem so much afterthought.  Such a miss.  SDF and Frontier they used armour packs pretty regularly throughout the series, the Valkyries just almost beg to be bought with them.  Delta to me will be likely an armour pack free zone.

thanks for the insight dero! We were just watching and reading a few reviews about the kits and they do mention several times how brittle and breakable they actually are.. My son doesn't seem to impressed by the kit anymore..

It would still cost about $100 shipped to Australia (no thanks to the ever weakening dollar) which is less than one third the price of buying a DX version from NY but even as cheap as they are I don't believe its worth it.

Besides its really only as cheap as it is due to the fact you have to build and detail it yourself or it would be double the price and then definitely not worth it. So I think we'll give the whole idea a miss.

    $100 shipped?  Not nearly.

My 1/72 VF-31F Messer was $57.67 and shipping cost $24.53 to Brisbane... this included 3 Gundam super deformed Gunpla kits in it so the shipping box was bigger than it necessarily would be for just shipping just the Macropla (?) kit on its own.

The Macross kits were cheapish experiments to check for my desire.  There was always a gnawing intention from my side that I would be getting the 1/60 DX anyway because when I had bought a Yetistand a while back I did it getting a double arm kit.... Plastic kits fits toward my personality as I like technical design and detail.  What I really have enjoyed with the 31J Hayate was the different grade plastics which were used into their relative injection moulds.  Some soft, some harder... each and every single one served a purpose.

not that my son wants to re-start collecting Valkyries or anything but he does like the VF-31J and as a cost alternative he was looking at the 1/72 transformable kits..

which are relatively dirt cheap compared to a full on DX machine (4k yen on Mandarake) but are they any good? They need to be assembled which im happy to help him with but no painting required yes? and apply stickers..

what you reckon? worth it for the price or are they junk..

I had originally considered just getting the 1/72 model kits for my Delta displays.  Have purchased 05 and 02 so far and that's probably where I'll stop.

The build is easy.  The colours and matching of colours are fantastic to the show.  The shape and demonstration when displayed is amazingly accurate.

However.  If the intent is to be able to give them a play, transform them and play some more then I'd probably say no.  Some of the plastic pieces are very brittle.  The 05 head antenna snapped pretty much the first moment I tried to move it around.  The leg components have been pretty regular in coming apart.  Either it's because I've got a bit of a plastic dag left from where I cut it off from the frame or it's how I'm moving it that is making it come loose.  There's a number of extra pieces like covers and such for when you wish to transform it or move it into a new mode.  The under-arm gun-pods are detach from jet and reattach to arm style of assembly.

For me, it's not a big deal because I really like the dynamic poses which it is able to do in fighter form and that's pretty much how I'll be displaying it on their FlightPose stands.

As I said, I originally considered just getting the 1/72 model kits but I've now got a 1/60 DX VF-31F on pre-order because there's poses and transformations I want to make with it... and it'll couple up nicely with the also-delta-wing YF-29 Fokker edition I have.  Both delta wings, both pilots who's flames burned brightly and extinguished quickly.

Im 41 year's old ..WHY AM I DOING THIS.....

I'm 40... think of it this way... at least at this age, we have the income to afford the why we are doing this...

    Seek the positive!

  7. First time pre-ordering, first time lucky I guess.

Hobby Search was gone within 10 seconds.  I was lucky to enter the queue on Amiami.  It took 3 goes to login again to get to the cart completion and checkout process.  I have the confirmation email now though so all good. :)

HLJ one is weird.  Doesn't show up on search terms and their menus are a jumbled mess... how did you find it?

  8. I'm new to this.  What are "Hi-Metal R"s?

The valkyries look very much like plastic with some metal struts and connectors but otherwise it's plastic.

The kit looks like it's also utilising a lot of swappable parts like hands, cockpit covers and wings with/without missile pod mount points.

Are they a design intended for poseable photography?

    usually 4pm Japan time..

Thank you.  That's 6pm my time.  I'll have to get a leave pass to see if I can get a preorder in.

These photos of the 05 that are coming up are convincing me to put an order in.

  10. JPY 21,600 is a princely sum. Current conversions make it $278 AUD. I recall I paid less for the YF-29 even after missing out on the initial release and getting it from a seconds reseller.

Bandai seeking to just rake our wallets clean? Surely the production of these figurines aren't any more complex than the production of the VF-25, VF-27, YF-29 and YF-30?

  11. Oh my... those glass shelf clip stands really are wonderful an addition to the options list.

Reckon it's possible to get 3 clips, back and both sides, different lengths of arm and see if they work in the internal space of the Detolf? Might not fit with 3x 1/60s but I reckon with the right banking you can achieve 2x 1/60s

  12. konichiwa! *waves hands* this is how you transform valkyries...*breaks head off* :o

DX 31 hype train now boarding again....

plus we seem to have a important date...

Refreshing to see a seemingly more simplified transformation. No more of the tuck arms between legs business. Tucking the arms to the outside of the legs and snapping them in underneath the wings is so simple and elegant.

  13. I really quite like the subtle extra colours that are coming with the VF-31.

Rather than holding to the previous colour formula of primary colour and black and/or white, the blue/red/white, maroon/black/white, grey/black/white, blue/grey/red/white is quite striking.

In comparison, Delta 03 looks quite bland.

I'll have to get myself a Delta 01 when it comes out.

  14.

Nice. Always love seeing customers pics.

    Here's my pic!

Stand arrived today. Colour and lighting is terrible - image comes straight off the camera.

When I get time, I'll re-do it with better lighting. :)
