  1. Like many here I imagine, I grew up with Robotech and eventually moved to Macross and other animes. So you can certainly count me a fan of the classic SDF/DYRL.

However, tho I agree that business-wise Bandai would be smart to stick with SDF for the HM-R line for now, I seriously hope they do branch out eventually as I would love to see a HM-R YF-19 (improved from their previous 19 incarnations of course) or a VF-2SS like they teased previously.

  2. The third one will probably remain mint, while I tinker with the wing mechanism of one of the older ones, which I've already disassembled. If I can get access to the resources to do it, I plan on reworking the wing mechanism entirely so it functions off of a sliding pivot, instead of the double swing arm.

Oh man, that would be fantastic! Definitely looking forward to your mod. Cuz that damn wing swing bar..... Ugh.

  3. Made by a fan, I found it in a community on facebook. there are a lot of ideas going around, when I saw him I knew that was the image I had seen before, is very similar no?

Yeah, like kajnrig said, it's certainly not the same, but the resemblance is definitely eerie... Cool find!

  4. @Mr Bomber - LOL

Yeah, after waiting all this time to get the Arcadia YF-19, like GabrielV, I definitely have a twang of buyer's remorse also.

The YF-19 just doesn't feel as well put-together in hand as I had hoped (especially for the cost) . Even knowing that Arcadia didn't do anything to improve on the flaws from the initial release, I was still hoping it would hold up better. It definitely didn't help that Bandai did such a great job with the VF-19....

Don't get me wrong, the YF-19 is gorgeous and I see why so many favor it. Just wish it was... funner. Not to mention not so damn expensive! :p

  5. Wow, great job!! We all could go on and on about how great it looks! Just beautiful!

QFT! Amazing work, eggy99! The MP VF-1J is easily my favorite 1J by far.

If you don't mind me asking, what brown paint color did you use to match the VF-1A CF brown? I'm thinking of doing the same thing and creating my own 1J MP too seeing as how the chances of ever getting an actual one now is like winning the lottery.

  6. Well, it's not my idea that the pods can have specialized functions since Kawamori-san already said as much back when the YF-30 was introduced. :) But as you pointed out, it could certainly be a cool distinguishing difference for the characters as well as the toy (aside from the inevitable head change too of course, lol).... Which is why I was thinking that perhaps that's the reason they haven't shown off the pods just yet. So as not too give away too much from the show?

Whatever the case, at least this isn't as big of a tease as not revealing the 2 other forms for the SV-262 yet. :p

  7. Interesting.... Thanks for the synopsis, technoblue!

Personally, I definitely like the changes made from the 30 to the 31. Whatever changes they made to the pod can only be better than the stadium lights, haha!

I wonder if the reason they haven't shown off the pod in battroid yet is cuz each of the VF-31s in the team has a different pod with their own specialized function. So maybe like how Michel in Frontier was the sniper, perhaps one of the new pods can unfold to become a sniper rifle! And of course we've already seen what appears to be a pod that splits to resemble VF-29 canons.

  8. :o

Is that... SV-51 Ivanov?! That's the only model I could think of that fits those blanks.

I really hope that's it! I'd love me a SV-51 with the Arcadia treatment!

However, there could be other possibilities.... The first part with the hyphen is obviously the valkyrie model designation. The second part is likely a name as neoexcaliber has already guessed, but aside from "Ivanov", it could also be "Hikaru" or "Basara" perhaps?

My money's still on the SV-51 tho since Arcadia has the Macross Zero license and appears to be milking it for all its got at the moment.

  9. I have both the Arcadia & Bandai and I love them equally! I couldn't imagine just having one or the other as each have their own qualities which set them apart. So personally yes I do think its worth picking up the Arcadia also.

Short answer = yes. Depends on your preferences though. I like the beefier, 90's battroid looks, so its a no brainer its Arcadia's for me. Plus Bandai's spam tampo displeases my eyes (j/k) They should donate one of their tampo machines to the needy (hint)

Thanks for the insight, guys! I agree the differences really sets them apart, but the price of the Arcadia (especially now on the secondary market) is such a big barrier. I guess I'll keep hunting and hopefully come across a deal. -_-

  10. Those have been up for a short while now. I was originally dead set on getting an Arcadia YF-19 when I first decided to get into collecting about a year ago, but after getting the Bandai VF-19 Advance, I have now almost completely lost all interest (especially at these prices still).

I know the VF-19 isn't the YF-19 and it's a Frontier valk, SMS etc. etc.... But regardless it has more than satisfied my Isamu 19 itch. Am I the only one? Or do others feel the same way? For those that don't, is the Arcadia really still worth the pick-up when considering the cost?

  11. This is probably a long shot (since I've only ever seen one person sell this... and they actually reneged in the end), but if anyone has one they're interested in letting go or knows someplace/someone that is, please let me know. This is easily by far my favorite 1J... Just something about that CF color scheme. :)

Ideally, I'd like a mint or near mint one that hasn't been transformed, but I'd consider any as long as it's in good condition.

    Thanks in advance!

  12. I don't think it's necessarily production tolerances so much as that almost everything on this guy is crazy stupid tight out of the box.

Even after a half dozen transformations now (and I even loosen the hip screws as suggested), it still takes quite some effort to push everything into their proper positions in fighter mode. But once I do, for the most part everything lines up nicely with minimal gaps as others here have shown.

Regardless of level of gappyness, I'm really looking forward to your review/comparison, Jenius!

  13. Nothing for my HLJ order yet. :( But I'm certainly happy that they're fulfilling those later pop-up orders! There's hope yet!

EDIT: Scratch that!... I got the payment request 10 mins after I posted, haha! Whoohoo!

  14. Let me ask a question that many will have on their minds. I have both the previous 2 Arcadia/Yamato renditions of the YF-19. Should I put the cash down for this one?

I certainly agree with everyone else about the unknowns regarding quality, durability, etc.... But no one has mentioned the price. At about only 2/3 the cost of the Arcadia version, I think (IMHO) it's a no-brainer to pick up if you're a fan of the 19 and your interest is still high after watching the video.

I'm actually in the opposite situation as you (don't have the previous YF-19s but have a pre-order for this VF-19) and I'm actually somewhat glad I didn't pay secondhand market price for the Arcadia now since I'm liking the esthetics of the VF-19 more and don't mind the more complex transformation at all. Like ArchieNov, I'm a fan of the engineering.

  15. Not sure if I was clear enough, but I meant that there's no point to have the cover tuck away into the shield in a bid to eliminate spare parts when a separate one is required for Gerwalk.

I guess I'm a glass half full guy... personally, I'm loving the neck cover that tucks away into the shield idea. IMO it takes care of the 2 (arguably) most important modes: fighter and battroid. And while in gerwalk, it's no different than Arcadia - if you don't want to use the extra neck shield piece, you don't have to! But you have the option at least.

Anyway, after seeing that video, I'm totally pumped for this figure! Like a few other people here, I'm really hoping HLJ comes through on their strange pre-order pop-ups. Come on HLJ!!!
