Wanted to PO the Blue Frame - I held off the P-Bandai JP site and waited for the SG site (my first time trying to PO there since I usually buy Macross, and they don't carry the franchise), seems like servers crashing and the item selling out is pretty common. By the time FJ got back to me, the JP site was then sold out.

In the end went with an Okini Land PO, hope they don't bail on me like Mykombini did on the Kairos..

All of the Asia sites for P-Bandai outside of Japan are instant sell outs for Metal Build items. Only in the Japan site can the PO stay open without selling out for between 30mins to 2 hours, depending on how popular it is in Japan. As for those that Bluefin carries for the US, not sure how fast they sell out but the window seems to open longer than it does in Asia.

  2. The metal build madness is driving collectors to the wall. Over here in Singapore, physical shops are opening POs at +50% above the recommended yen retail price.

One shop is even taking bids on its Facebook page to award the top bidders for the limited stocks he will be getting.

Not sure if the situation is the same in Hong Kong.

Over at Japan, the Chinese are queuing at physical shops in akihabara to place their pre orders for metal build now.

  3. Well the same would apply to AE if they decide to open the 2nd round of PO. So it's for collectors to decide if they feel the sites are reliable.

I personally feel both AE and NY are reliable though NY can be quite slow and poor in communication.

You are probably right , by the way , were you able to secure one ?

Nope I didn't cos I didn't expect it to close so fast. But I am not worried. The next POs should be open soon. I will get it again then.

It sold out in under 3 hours from preorder opening on p-Bandai’s website .   Everything after is just stores selling what’re stock they were able to get from p-Bandai in those hours .

Many are waiting for the usual 2nd batch announcements.  Even the proxy stores , haha.

I am pretty sure the Japanese domestic collectors will be complaining so Bandai will pacify them and come up with a round 2 PO. We should see it open again by mid June,

  6. They are sold out cos it is sold out on the Bandai official site.

Surprised that they are sold out so fast though since the official PO is opened just 3 days ago. Must be a lot of proxies snapping them up.

Usually when this happens you can expect to see a round of POs with a 2nd batch releasing at a later date.

  7. I’m not aware if it’s the same in Japan or if this is still in practice but in other markets outside of Japan, retailers have to place orders for the less popular items in order to be “entitled” to buy more quantities of the high in demand items such as metal build and dx macross.

For instance every additional carton of 6 or 12 pieces of SHFiguarts entitles the retailer to buy 2 pieces more of metal build or dx Macross.

I suspect NY may have been subject to this and buy in a lot more of those shelf warmers to get more VF-1A. And they may have done the maths that they could get more profits out of selling the 1A at inflated prices and dumping those shelf warmers at or below costs. So this is a typical business strategy they adopt.

And they have no worries about anyone boycotting them because they have no lack of buyers who will buy their metal build or dx Macross items even at inflated prices.

And in case no one noticed, NY benchmarks it’s prices against those in yahoo japan. So they know they just need to be slightly more competitive than buyee to get your business.
