TRACKS'S BIGGEST FLAW IS CORROSION TO HIS FRONT/DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL AND SOME DECAL WEAR.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7&category=4696

How in the heck is that 125%?!?!?!?

    Here's another funny one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=36568

At least my "macress" toys came with boxes for less than that. Missing the "jet pack thrusters" my ass

Poor spelling yet still has bids ...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=36568

ugly ass skyfire custom jetfire... again. Same seller? another custom? or was the last buyer that un-impressed?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...0&category=4696

    how much?!?!?!?!?!?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8&category=4696

and thats it for this week. Anybody else find something worth laughing about?

  2. Between this and the camera while unpacking, I must admit you have this eBay stuff down to a science.

i'm a boy scout when it comes to ebay...i'm always prepared. :)

    the video/digital recording works everytime!

be sure to show a date and time when opening your package as well as showing that the package is sealed and was not molested in any way. i usually hold it up in front of my camera and run all the edges across the lens about 4-6 inches away, to confirm this.

then i start the unpacking, making sure i have enough room, lighting and i even set up a rectangle with masking tape so i don't go off camera while unpacking. if you or the item goes out of the picture, he can just say you switched it, so its really important that you and the item stay in the picture for the entire process. if theres anything wrong, then its time for closeup shots but be sure to keep the recording going and make sure not to step in front of the camera ever...always set up from behind. it pays to have two camera too! :)

when i send a seller a copy, they know i'm not playing around and its not worth trying to scam me. so they'll send my refund quick with their sincerest apologizes....yeah right! <_<

i especially do this when it comes to sales or trades outside of ebay, i'll go as far as to set up my lighting equipment if its a big enough purchase and always pay by USPS MO......it's federal crime to cash it and not deliver. you have to go in with a drivers license or state ID. make sure to fill out the whole thing....don't be stupid and put someones first name in and think you're gonna catch them. put in the entire address, if the guys ID and MO doesn't match EXACTLY, he can't cash it......not even at his bank!

trust no one, cause its not paranoia when they're really out to get you.

now announcing haterist's escrow service. For a nominal fee ....

Tis a damn good idea though. I know I'd pony up some loot to make sure the seeker I eventually get is the seeker I pay for ;)

  3. Thanks guys. I have a set in pretty good condition. Box is a little worn but not torn. All the pieces are there but I think decals are applied to the Tomahawk pieces. Can't remember. All the other decals are fine.

I paid about $50 for it quite a while back, almost 10 years. Can't believe it was that long ago. Dunno whether to hold or sell.

    Thanks again.

Might as well hang on to it if you enjoy it. It's one of those toys that I never expect to see re-issued so it can only go up in value.

Unless of course you want to see it to me for $50 in which case, by all means get rid of the silly thing...

  4. I've been watching them for a while. Nice boxed ones still average around $100, maybe $150 for an absolute mint one with unapplied decals, etc. They go down in value remarkably if anything is missing. I passed on a set with everything but one small armor piece that ended at $50 because I didn't have that particular piece at the time. More pieces missing and severly damaged boxes can drop them down to $30-$40. You almost never see them loose, but they are near worthless without the box. I think the loose one I have is cool just as variety next to my 1/100 valks, but I do hope to have one mint in box with all the pieces on day.

  5. LOL, Kanata... you're a garage artist... pretty cool stuff. I'm gonna have to hand over my 1/60 Monster "Bong" project to you, man!!!

Give me the dimensions of one of the cannons, if the can be removed individually, and consider it done LOL. Not that I don't have more experience building "non-macross" customs  .

If it makes you feel any better Agent ONE, I am also going to document

    Refurbishing a super O'

Painting and assembling resin 1/55 super O', Seeker, GBP-1s, and strike armor.

    Performing a super o' conversion

    performing a seeker conversion

    Dis-assembly/re-assembly of a 1/55

as well as misc repairs as broken stuff finds it's way to me.

  6. I come across stuff that is makes me laugh me head off periodically. I figure I'm not the only one who finds such auctions so why not start a post we can all laugh about.

    first off is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=16467&rd=1

What can I say but that the seller is on crack, but if it sells I might try to do the same LOL.

someone pointed out in another post people who claim "I AM NOT A COLLECTOR OF ACTION FIGURES"... and has a "GAKKEN MACROSS ROBOTECH ALPHA FIGHTER" as the title :lol:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=16467&rd=1

something Non-Macross that I've been looking for on card, which this isn't, but funny enough to have you guys look at...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=2472&rd=1

So u guys see anything funny? I'll update as I stuble across them.

  7. Ok boys and girls. I finally got the box of debris I have been waiting on from canada for months now and I get to start some new projects. They will all get done sooner or later but I figured I would start off with whatever you guys want to see first.

Projects already in progress enough for me to have made [but not uploaded] web pages for, but not finished yet are...

    1. 1/55 spawn manga violator custom valk [needs some external finishing, but I am proud of the blood/gore splattered cockpit LOL]

    2. 7" spawn tomahawk [needs decals, or not... I haven't decided]

    3. 7" H2O camo tomahawk [ I still need to add a jamaican flag and pot leaf decal]

    4. SDF-1 main-cannon repair walk through [i have one SDF-1 breakage type done but haven't gotten to the second style break on the other SDF yet]

    As well as...

    5. Making a matchbox VF transform [Watch me try pics]

    6. Making a 1/55 spawn exoskeloton valk

    7. Spawn matchbox glaug

    8. spawn 7" zentraedi power armor

and when I figure out how to...

    9. scout pod conversion of a matchbox tactical pod

    10. Removable fast-packs for the 1/100 die-cast valks [Leg armor done but attaching arm armor has me stumped so far]

At some undefined point in the future I am also planning on trying ...

    Spawn custom SDF-1

Spawn 1/55 GBP-1s [As I learn to recast and get scraps]

Making a GI Joe night raven into a transformable valk [i am not optamistic]

Yep... As you might have guessed... most of the stuff in my bits box is spawn crap, hence the spawn theme LOL. If some-one were to give me some GI JOE vehicle weapons there's no telling what would happen LOL. I can post pics of the first four things now, and of the next four as I go. The last two are going to take some serious four-thought so they are on hold unless you have input/ideas.

Soooooo..... What do you guys think? Input? Suggestions? Ideas?

Donation of parts or broken toys???? ;)

Here's a pic of some of the destroids so far...

  8. I started off doing warhammer mini's way back when. I am a big fan of "citadel" products, although many of their best paints are no longer made so I have to spend much time tracking down paint thats 15+ years old. The paint is still as good as the day it was made with some shaking which is one reason water based acrylics are nice. I ALWAYS use a spray primer for my stuff. First I use some "goo-gone" to remove any sticker residue and the wash the parts/toy in water till it feels "clean" The spray primer holds extremely well I have found and is still readily availible.

As for texture... I never mastered the art of airbrushing as I found it extremely wasteful of paint when working on mini's and the lack of experience kept me using brushes when I moved on to bigger things. I can get a nice shiney finish using the correct "citadel" paint without a primer, but it flakes easily off smooth plastic without the primer.

The main reason that I love water based acrylics over oil based paints is that...

    1. they are easy to clean up {my work area is a sheet of glass and a sponge works days later}

    2. they are easy to mix

    3. you can dillute them to the consistancy desired [You can "ink"/wash with any water based paint if you dilute it enough]

    4. They dry incredibly fast. I found I could paint the shield of a mini, then paint the armor, and by the time I was done with another part the first part was dry enough to work on again. Warning... this leads to undertaking many projects at once and results in an almost assembly line meathodology.

With "citadel" spray matte sealer the paints are almost impervious to accidental flaking and damage. TO give you an idea... I made a snow globe for a girl in high school ['93] using citadel paints and sealer. I lost track of her before the paint had any issues SUBMERGED continuously for years!

I also found it remarkably easy to clean up my airbrush [while I was experimenting with one before I learned that I couldn't get the detail I wanted on a 1/2" figure] when using water based acrylics by simply spraying water through it till it was clean.

Oh yeah... water based stuff is also non-flamable for you smokers/pyros

  9. sorry if I am particular about the products, but I know the results. I would first prime it black [i use citadel spray primer]. I would then dry-brush it "citadel" gunbolt metal. I would then give it a wash/ink of whatever ink most corresponds to your desired final paint... going by the pic Batou posted I'd suggest "citadel colour" blue ink. I would then give it a layer of "citadel Fortress grey or sky blue" and possibly a black ink depending on how it looks at that point. Seal it and you are done. "citadel spray matte sealer... go figure". Is it obvious that I learned painting mini's

  10. I'll take one Hikaru 1/48, a box of condoms, a Roy 1/48, the new issue of playboy, 1 1/60 Super Ostrich, some ex-lax, and a couple of those trading figures...

PRICE CHECK ON A BOX OF CONDOMS, THE OCTOBER PLAYBOY, AND MAXIMUM STRENGTH LAXATIVE FOR THE MAN WITH THE TOYS PLEASE!!!

you forgot the industrial size jar of vasaline exo... "honest... it's for the toys":lol::lol:

I remember waaaay back in the day a couple supermarkets had mid level G1 transformes like trailbreaker and prowl, but not a chance in heck you'd find a jetfire in one. I'm amazed that you can buy DVD players in supermarkets now-a-days for less than $100. I see much crap non-grocery related, but few toys.

I do keep checking the asian grocery store hoping they will get some 1/55 bootlegs in so I don't have to pay as much for shipping as the toy costs.

  11. I actually woundn't want to see macross stuff in a supermarket. If that were the case, I'd always come home with some milk, bread, microwave food, and a valk!! And instead of my total being 20 for food, it would be like 112 with the valks!!! ARRGGHH!! that would be the end of my bank account! I'd be left homeless!

Well, I'm sure we would pay much less for each part of our collection sometimes ;)

    Just thing:

    This weekend at Wallmart!!!

Tomatoe and spinach 20% off !

All Soul of Chogokin products 2x1!

    Yamato VT-1 & VE-1 40% off . Just $45 each!

    Pepsi 1 lt 3x2!

    Corona beer six pack $3.50!

    :p:p

    [mmmm... beer....]

    Wallmart sells beer?!?!?!?

    Where???

I know I've wandered around the local wallmarts for numerous hours looking for crap and I sure as heck would have spotted beer!

My favorite trick still has to be... Get a toy or something on clearence at wallmart, take the price sticker off carefully, then return it to K-mart at full price store credit, and buy beer with the credit as K-mart DOES sell beer  . Good way to get your beer even cheaper ;)

  12. Cool. Thanks guys. My best guess was around 7 1/2 inches as that's what my die-cast rx-178 is. I copied your answers into a reply so hopefully it helps the guy out. Mods can move/delete this any time they want now, seeing as nobody had input on what project I should do first.

  13. I still love the chunky monkeys! Monkey lovers stand tall and have your voices heard!

Edit: Okay, that sounded really bad in retrospect.

I thought monkey lovers were stooped over and had hairy palms

I prefer being labeled a bandai lover myself LOL.

I'd get them at that price but for the shipping. Is shipping cheaper to japan? As in... could I get a couple sent to monkey nugget and pay him to ship them to me along with the stuff I want from him?

  14. LOL... You guys got bent over

I try real hard to never pay retail myself so I will base overpayment factorially.. as in I bought two "macress" figures in box for$11 and $9.50 plus $7 shipping off poorly decribed ebay auctions from one seller, figure $27 total. As these things aren't worth the plastic they are almost made of I'd say they are worth maybe $1 each. As such I paid 12 1/2 times what they were worth!!!!!

I hang on to them so I don't get cocky again LOL.

Other than that... I guess the absalutely worst thing I ever got involved in is the $1000+ I've spent for a jetfire complete in box, and it won't even be complete till I get a G1 catalog :(

Granted... much of that money was spent buying additional jetfire lot's that had components I need so while I still have not completed the first... the second, a matshu, only needs the catalog as well, the next two in re-issue super boxes also only need the catalog, the next two [ in super boxes] after that only need the catalog and the tech spec decoder, and from there we go down the line to one needing a leg clip plus stuff mentioned before, one needing both leg clips, the gun clip, and everything afore-mentioned, to a few that are only worth doing spawn customs on.

In hindsight, I soooo should have just spent the $200 and got one complete in box at the get go LOL.

  15. Hey all. I know this is macrossworld, but I also know that many of you have built gundam. I have a quick question that a seller asked me... that I don't know the answer to and I hope some-one here can answer.

    here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=49210&rd=1

It's for two HG gundam 1/100 scale, the wing gundan, and the wing gundam 0 . The potential buyer wants to know how big these are assembled and I haven't a clue as I never built them. The only gundam comparison I can make is to the 1/144 HCM's I have [ as I didn't have to build them LOL] All I can figure is that they should be bigger, but I don't know how much. Can anyone who has built one of these, or a 1/100 gundam kit in general, tell me approximately how tall they would be in robot mode when assembled.

Mods can obviously delete this, preferably tomorrow after I have an answer :)

Just to throw some macross related stuff in here... I finally got the box of abused mecha I've been waiting on so I get to start some new projects. What would you guys like to see first...

    1. Custom scout pod head attachments for the matchbox tactical pod, eventually recasted and Easy install for the benifit of others.

    2. Step by step attempt to make the big crappy vf-1s matchbox transformable

    3. Step by step spawn glaug custom. [yes... eventually there will be spawn variations of every macross toy  ]

  16. as much as I like sithlord's stands... It usually ends up with me buying another valk or two with the money I put aside in anticipation. My displays consists of pointing at a stack of boxes and saying "those boxes there have crap in them" LOL. Once I get a house my "office" will double as my display room. Most stuff will still have to be stacked in a closet as how do you realistically display 100+ spawn figs on card and a ton of macross stuff in only one room?

Big O had a cool set up in his old place consisting of shelving running around the entire place at display level and the simpsons figs on card as kitchen wallpaper

  17. I watch a lot of stuff. DYRL was good, as were many others. I actually preffered the mckinny books myself  . I learned a long time ago that I CHOSE what I watch. If I don't enjoy it I simply move on with my life. Focusing on why I didn't like it takes more effort than crappy TV merits.

What can I say but I have read novels so much better than most anime/cartoon plots that it makes me wonder just how much PCP the writers of Pokemon do on an average day. Anime is a visual media. For me it's all about the mecha and the corresponding toys. Really... who watched GI JOE for the plot rather than the cool gear? C'mon... America's elite vs the worlds best terrorist organization and niether could hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with an AK-47. Dusty got a concussion ONCE and there was no death till the movie came out. GI JOE is the reason blood starved adolecent Americans turned to macross.

Companies do serial plots for increased exposure and occasionally because the story justifies it. Zoids the chaotic century was a serial with a continous plot that I personally could get into, where-as the regular zoids was the typical half-hour meet them and beat them kinda of marketing gimmick plot I've seen to many times already.

If they wanted to do that to macross it would be easy enough to "borrow" voltron lion force's plot of " uh oh, time to go beat the alien monster again". As long asthey don't do a power ranger's live action version or a "thunderbirds are a go" puppet thing... and the cool toys keep coming, I'm happy.

stupid internet connection... hope this isn't a double post

  18. Like others have said in this Thread. Macross is not "Dead" here, but under publicised (big time). With it not being on Television this time around they are failing to pick up new blood. What is on TV now, Gundam, Power Rangers and Masked Rider. All Bandai Shows, which are aired and re-aired 3 times a week. The older crowd still digs Macross. But in my partners shop Macross is hardly mentioned. They only talk about the above shows. I would imagine that Macross is the most popular in Toykyo. Which does make sense because the major conventions are there. My partner hasn't sold 1 Bandai, Yamato Valkyrie out of his store to a Japanese customer since I have been going there. One of the reasons we stopped buying them. You can go to Toy's R Us here and find an abundance of Yamato and Bandai's sitting on the shelves. The 1:55 sell for about $25.00 now. (But the boxes are trashed)

It is still popular here and it would sky-rocket if it had gotten a TV slot. It's just my opinion.

I think bandai will re-issue the rest of the line up..as soon as the Yamato's new releases die down. They are watching and waiting like a sleeping giant.

    Rob

When they go on clearence for less than $20, feel free to pick me up a couple rob

  19. Now that I have a digital camera that isn't geriatric, I've been taking photos of everything I'm working on step by step. From painting a 1/144 power armor [an endevor I lost motivation to finish after seeing I had nothing to offer compared to a cockpit!], to the 1/100 variables and toy repair walk throughs. I figure I can post em on my in dire need of content site and put links here. Granted... I'm actually gonna have to finish something first LOL.

I wouldn't mind if Kid did a walkthrough the next time he makes removable armor for the 1/100 die-casts, a project that stumped me at the arm armor

And while there have been many painting tips and guides, I just love when I find a walkthrough that partially matches a color scheme I wanted to do.

  20. The inabilty to remove the radar dish arm on the Yamato VE-1 does not both me at all, as this toy will be permanently displayed in fighter mode with the radar dish attached anyway.

    Ditto.

Now all I have to do is find something to use as a stand so I can display it in flight with the radar array on the bottom fully deployed.

I know someone around here [sithlord maybe] sells really cool stands periodically that work great displaying complex things off the ground. GO throuh the "for sale" section a few pages and I'm sure you will find it. I need to get one myself as it's the only way I'll ever be able to display my violator valk in fighter mode LOL.
