The only three mode alpha's I was aware of were the really big one and the small cheap one. I had the two mode die-cast one and I couldn't get it into the pose in the pic. Maybe I didn't try hard enough or maybe it's different. Every die-cast one I ever saw also said "mars base" on it. as for the 1/100... I went through my small collection of 1/100's consisting of a bandai 1a, a taka lisa hayes cannon 1a, a joons style 1j, and to my surprise a joons style 1s in a joons style 1j box?!, plus the die-cast feet one I have loose. The die-cast feet one is the one that came with the really odd gun to my knowledge. anyways... as for how I made my educated guess about it. For starters, it looks just like the one I am holding in my hands at the moment. What distinguishes this one from the other ones I have is... 1. the ruddy brownish canopy as all the ones besides the die-cast feet KO I have seen are either red or black with the exception of the takatoku cannon fodder which is a brown valk so this obviously isn't it. 2. the lack of eye-piece sticker or paint on the head. 3. the notches on the head antennas 4. the fact that it says vf-1j on the wing [i don't think ANY of the 1/100's had the vf-? on the wing except this particular bootleg, though I would need more 1/100's to be sure] 5. how the macross symbol on the other wing looks kinda squished 6. stickers rather than paint on the chest plate All this is in hind sight mind you. My original comment was based entirely on the fact that it looked identical to the one I have but for the missing legs does that help?

you beat my max bid of $5.01 LOL. Here is what you got for your extra money... go-bot small version leader one a helicopter I assume is also go-bot the alpha is the smaller three mode non-diecast one. The one that supposedly was designed to atach to the never made beta. Jwinges can tell you more but you probably don't want to hear it. Fun in a poorly made sort of way. As for the legless valk. That was actually the reason I wanted the auction. Like the bandai and takatoku 1/100's, this one featured die-cast. Unfortunately, all the die cast was in the legs except for the chest plate. This version is, in my opinion, the best of the bootleg 1/100's. The shoulders weren't prone to breakage as much as the plastic one and the die-cast feet were kinda cool. The main problem was the non-secure hip bar that is prone to working itself loose and disappearing, as you can tell. The poorly designed hip bar means that the bar from a bandai or taka won't work, nor will the joons style plastic 1/100's. I was thinking something might be done with a 1/100 model kit in this case which is why I thought about getting it till it went up in price. To give you an idea of what they look like with legs, here is a pic from the auction the one I won came from. It's next to a 1/55 joons for size comparison and cause I got both in the deal. As it's the only 1/100 I have loose it now serves as the test dummy for removable 1/100 fast packs.
  3. same quality my ass I should take my "macress" figures out of the box and sell them http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=19198 interesting... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=16467 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=16467 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=16467
  4. the MPC is better than the 1/48 because..... it's funner to watch the box mely around the batroid form in the fireplace you don't mind when the dog chews it. you save money making a valk really fly by gluing rockets to it hey... free watch batteries...
  5. thats another part of it. I lived in the sticks during the mid eighties and the nearest KB toys was over an hour drive away. Malls were magical places to my toy deprived hick ass. I got jetfire and some cool g1 transformers while we lived in cape cod but in the sticks all I could find was the occasional GI Joe toy at k-mart that somebody else hadn't snagged. Living in the boons also made me severly deprived of quality tv. Cable didn't exist and only one broadcast channel did cartoons any day besides saturday. After years of joe inspired playing with explosives, I was flipping stations one day and the one that was kinda pbs like, and fuzzy, was playing cartoons. Robotech was on but at seemed like a soap opera cartoon so I flipped back to thundercats or whatever on the other channel. Eventually I flipped again and saw giant robots and blood. I was hooked. I got to watch a number of episodes from all three series, but never got to see them all in sequence or the final episodes of any of them. I managed to get some robotech toys at the local k-mart type store including a tactical pod, a hover tank, a bioroid hovercraft, a non-transforming cyclone, and a few of the 3" destroids. Action figures were way lame. I was jaded at the time and though everything pretty lame but the 3". Come to think of it, I still think the stuff pretty lame compared to all the other really cool stuff availible. Anyhow... The channel that was playing the cartoons got sold to some religious network and there went my exposure to anime for a while. I called the station and managed to get transfered to the vault operator who informed me that the unfortunately couldn't see me the tapes as they had all been recorded over already. But I tried damn'it. So I read the books. All of them including the sentinals saga were my primary introduction to the world of macross, although not quite a proper one. The toys are literally things I dreamed about as a child now easily shipped to my door, how could I not get them?
  6. HUGE LOT OF MID 80'S PLANES & TRUCKS NR ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=2468&rd=1 All I wanted was the raven landing gear but I went to $42
  7. yeah... you need "video in" on your computer. RCA or S=Video is better if it's an option, but you can do it with a tv tuner card if neccesary. I'm still to lazy to connect my sound card to my old genisis and sample the sound effects.
  8. $71.00 for a 3" henshin?!?!?!? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=36568&rd=1 slightly cheaper us version http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=36568&rd=1 accurate description LOL... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...tegory=753&rd=1 lost this by 50 cents http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=36568&rd=1 cheap???? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=19198&rd=1 Geeze guys... I missed out on this but check out the description... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=16467&rd=1
  9. My childhood toys, like my childhood, faded away in the journey we call life. When I stopped traveling the world with all I owned on my back, I found myelf in Florida. A co-worker at radio shack showed me that it was possible to have cool toys [spawn primarily] and still get laid, so I started collecting spawn. Eventually the same friend ended up in a bad spot and "pawned" his jetfire to me. I spent a while searching Ebay for the missing leg clips, arm armor, and gun clip for a while till I saw a jetfire auction use the keyword "macross". I did a macross search and low and behold there was a re-issue out. I did some more research and found this wonderful place. 8 jetfires and a ton of misc macross stuff later I am still here. I plan on making the transition to having my hobby sometimes pay for itself like jesse and rob at some point in the future so I can justify getting the expensive toys

    God Help Me

I toned down my drinking to free up some funds My father would be so ashamed not that I don't try to be as high as the valkyries fly... seriously, I need to get another car so I can shop for a home that has a garage so I can fix up my car. It eats into the toy budget badly but jsarclight understands Flying somewhere to buy stuff is fine, but you have to remember that if you exceed the alloted luggage size you must pay out the a$$.
  11. this finally arived... today! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3140197712 No communication from tehe seller at all while I was waiting. It was mailed 09/08 , after I had the wife threaten fraud charges. Even worse is how big of a piece o' crap it was. Non matshu head lasers, touch up paint consisting of the wrong color nail polish and white out. Only usefull things were the wing and matshu back-plate, which is already on a much cleaner looking jetfire <_<
  12. as much as I love my marauders... ahm, I mean glaugs..., the vinyl four pack is somethingI have passed up numerous times at $20 for all four still in container. If you have to ask why... the glaug was the best looking one of the lot if that says anything.
  13. one nice thing about toy "merging", rather than just having a box of broken bits, is that you usually end up with two customs at the end rather than one. Even nicer is when the thing used as parts turns out cooler than expected with less effort... what would hikaru think when confronted with this in a dark alley.....?!?!
  14. I believe this set of wings came off a series 2 or 3 spawn, but don't feel the need to dig through the closet to see which. Heck, I don't feel like digging through the closet to see which 7 spawn figures I need to have the first 18 series complete . You can see this doesn't even qualify as dry fitting as any choice besides the zoid boosters [which just happened to have posts that fit in screw holes] will require some modification. I refuse to simply glue stuff on as I always disliked models for lack of structurable stability so I make sure my mods can be played with by a five year old. I don't care if they choke as long as the toy doesn't break so which version do you guys think looks best?
  15. spawn delux movie figure [i think] wings and grapple...
  16. now here are the options for customization based on what I have in my bits box at the moment... option one... zoids liger zero boosters
  17. I tinkered with the power armor last night. I also took lots of pics as I "planned" what I was going to do. I put "planned" in quotes as my planning basically consists of going through my bits box, primarily spawn refuse, and seeing what would look good. [god how I miss the bitz box I had back in school with all my and my friends broken GI Joe vehicles and other cool stuff] In fact... After doing a head swap on the power armor, I am left with a couple choices... what do you guys think looks coolest? here it is after the head swap. Like all my work, the head still rotates fully and the toy can be picked up by it.
  18. hey bigkid... I never have any plans when I do anything that isn't something that must meet code enforcement LOL. Basically, I wing it as I go. As such, some things are cool and others are not so cool. Sometimes A thought occurs and I kinda plan, but my kinda is basically going "this would look cool glued on/mounted on ..." and making it work. Familiarity with power tools and owning a dremmel helps. To give you an idea... here is a pic of all the custom worthy stuff I got from canada besides the matchbox vf. I say spawn worthy because what else is this crap good for???

Can you explain pre-shading when you get the time? I've read articles on most of those techniques except for pre-shading. I think Seichii at the MW con mentioned that's what he did too. It looks like a very effect technique. pre-shading, as I know it, is basically doing a wash or two after you prime it and then doing repeated thin coats with an airbrush or multiple dry-brushing sessions, depending on your preference, gradually lightening the paint to give it a smooth shade transition. It's how I'm doing the violator valk. I still have a few more painting sessions on it before I'm done but pics aplenty will go up so you can get an idea of how a retard does it Something I would love to see again is a diorama someone posted a long time ago using a super posable in a post war setting where the abandoned battroid was being used as a diving platform in a swimming hole. The detail was amazing. Wish I knew how did it or that I had thought to save the pic.
  20. I'm thinking the paper monster scaled the size you want printed on styrene would be a good start

    Customized Valks

I have pics of a few customs I've come across while surfing and on ebay. I can post a couple but don't ask me who did it or what it is
  22. LOL ... Thats something I've been thinking about for a while. Molds for a jetfire set were estimated at about $5000 including scan from daytona molds. They will give me a direct quote once/if I send them the parts. This still doesn't count getting a place to pour/press the kits from the finished mold. The nice thing is... for a bit more money a mold of ALL five 1/55 armor sets could be done in one mold and sets could be spit out every thirty seconds or so. How much would you pay for all the sets in one nice carded package? Seriously... I'm still thinking about doing this but doubt I would get the money back in a timely fashion.
  23. Mix all two part compounds very well. Agitate individual components vigorously before mixing for best results. I have another resin question though. I know many of the jetfire armor bits that have come through my hands have had stress marks. I also know that jesse's resin was brittle and prone to breaking rather than stressing. I don't know if this is typical of all resin or only specific mixtures. I know that I broke a tab off one of jesse's strike bosters and a tab off the cannon, though that was due primarily to my own stupidity of not dry fitting the last part I had to assemble. Robs resin on the other hand, which I have a lot more of, ha sonly suffered one break of a medium leg armor post during shipping so I can't be certain of the tensile strength. As all of robs stuff dry fits perfectly and I have no desire to break something just to find out, can anybody tell me if some smooth-on types are more flexible than others when cured? I was also wondering if anybody has ever tried using extra metal for strength in their resin? From past concrete experince I know that laying steel down before pouring not only meets DOT standards, but with enough can support a school bus. I'm thinking maybe some copper wire strands might not prefent it from cracking, but might help it not break completely. Has anybody experimented? Also... has anybody done any wax/disposable molds? I have a tube of some really nasty, really expensive commercial self leveling epoxy that is almost bullet proff when dried [depends on the calibur and thickness], but I am sure that the mold would have to be burnt off it when dried. Can a one-shot mold be made easily and cheaply, or am I better off waiting till a mold is only good for one more cast and then doing it?
  24. WTF... TRANSFORMERS 1984 G1 TRACKS 125% BUY NOW $38 --- TRACKS'S BIGGEST FLAW IS CORROSION TO HIS FRONT/DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL AND SOME DECAL WEAR. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7&category=4696 How in the heck is that 125%?!?!?!? Here's another funny one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=36568 At least my "macress" toys came with boxes for less than that. Missing the "jet pack thrusters" my ass Poor spelling yet still has bids ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=36568 ugly ass skyfire custom jetfire... again. Same seller? another custom? or was the last buyer that un-impressed? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...0&category=4696 how much?!?!?!?!?!? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8&category=4696 and thats it for this week. Anybody else find something worth laughing about?
  25. i'm a boy scout when it comes to ebay...i'm always prepared. the video/digital recording works everytime! be sure to show a date and time when opening your package as well as showing that the package is sealed and was not molested in any way. i usually hold it up in front of my camera and run all the edges across the lens about 4-6 inches away, to confirm this. then i start the unpacking, making sure i have enough room, lighting and i even set up a rectangle with masking tape so i don't go off camera while unpacking. if you or the item goes out of the picture, he can just say you switched it, so its really important that you and the item stay in the picture for the entire process. if theres anything wrong, then its time for closeup shots but be sure to keep the recording going and make sure not to step in front of the camera ever...always set up from behind. it pays to have two camera too! when i send a seller a copy, they know i'm not playing around and its not worth trying to scam me. so they'll send my refund quick with their sincerest apologizes....yeah right! i especially do this when it comes to sales or trades outside of ebay, i'll go as far as to set up my lighting equipment if its a big enough purchase and always pay by USPS MO......it's federal crime to cash it and not deliver. you have to go in with a drivers license or state ID. make sure to fill out the whole thing....don't be stupid and put someones first name in and think you're gonna catch them. put in the entire address, if the guys ID and MO doesn't match EXACTLY, he can't cash it......not even at his bank! trust no one, cause its not paranoia when they're really out to get you. now announcing haterist's escrow service. For a nominal fee .... Tis a damn good idea though. I know I'd pony up some loot to make sure the seeker I eventually get is the seeker I pay for
