  3. dunno where I fall in this so I haven't voted. The voices in my head tell me I have a good imagination but I don't fly my valks around the house or do mock battles. Unlike many here I am in the posistion to actually hold mock battle. Up until recently people who saw part of my collection kept on telling me to recreate the attack on the "daedulus". If I knew what they were talking about it might have happened before I sold half my army. I have numerous vices, and a wife, that keep my kands occupied so the need to manipulate something in my hands usually gets resolved fairly quickly. Most of my stuff sits safe from my cats in boxes. on the other hand... most of the stuff now safe in boxes was loose. I have a number of valks that haven't made it into a box yet for a variety of reason ranging from lack of boxes to lack of arms so why put it in a box. My "playing" normally consists of swapping parts around to get one valk in good shape from how-ever many parts valks it takes. SOme have gone through repeated upgrades as parts became availible. I happily spend hours tinkering with them in an attempt to restore them to their former glory. What can I say... I like fixing things. Other than fixing stuff and swapping parts around I spend a lot of time holding my toys while going through my bits boxes and thinking. I don't know if others would consider it playing as I compare bit after bit next to the toy I am holding. I guess maybe "mock battles" as many a spawn figure is left dismembered and abused after I loot parts for my next custom. Custom spawn officers pod anyone??? It's in the works . I assume painting isn't playing either. Silly poses for photographs? Making dioramas? Staring at in an inheibriated stupor? What can I say... no sound effects or flying around the house for my toys... my cats enjoy it though . Is it wrong to swing a cat around over your head holding it's hind legs if it enjoys it??? Should a cat purr when you spank it
  4. vintage stuff is vintage which has appeal for those who lived in the sticks rowere poor back in the day and never had a vallk besides jetfire. re-issue rocks because they are damn near the same AND parts can be looted to repair the vintage stuff.... "well I have a vt-1 ostrich unbroken but missing it's tail... where to find a tail..." in addition... all us old schoolers with 1/55 armor now have a variety of valks to put it on. playing with toys... playing with the opposite sex... as long as your satisfied. There are actual females on this site, so I've heard, which implies your playthings can get along I'm married myself and let me tell you "why valks are better than women... Valks don't mind if you have a squadron. valks don't spend your money. valks never complain when you play with them. you can finger a friends valk. you can put a valk in a box on your shelf and leave it there for years. you can beat a valk to death, bury it in a shallow grave, and not go to jail. you can buy valks off ebay. valks come with instructions. you can sell a valk and it won't complain. valks don't feel ignored. valks don't care what you smell like. valks stay where you put them. valks don't cheat. you can get replacement parts for a damaged valk. you can custom your valk. you can trade valks with friends and not get a VD. you can ship a valk ups. you can tell if a valk is truely a virgin you can get a bootleg valk... I suppose you could get a ... nope..not gonna go there ." graham... You really don't want to know about the custom you inspired... And I bet I won't even be able to post pics when I'm done!!!
  5. Both acid and basic substances can be stored safely in plastic as it is ph7 in theory. Exceptioning extreme solvents which must be stored in glass or clay, plastic is the most used container. Easy-off does come in a plastic container now... doesn't it? I've played with 99% sulfuric in 55 gallon plastic drums. Acid will eat the heck out of metal though, especially the wrong metal. Resteraunt kitchens are an example of good metal being Stainless steel and aluminum for the most part. They survive direct exposure to non-dilute liquid chlorine and sulfuric and muriatic acid qithout problem as long as they dont soak in it. Iron and die-cast on the other-hand kinda disolve in the right solution. Why didn't they make aluminum valks? different chemicals have their own unique properties and problems. I have stuff that will strip the paint right off a jetfire wing but it leaves a film that won't wash or rub off and it burns when you touch it LOL. A lot also depends on what kind of paint was used and if primer and sealents were used. Try cleaning up a variety of aquired parts jetfires and you will see what I mean. Always rinse your parts repeatedly after you have them clean or between cleaning sessions else you might make an unpleasent discovery in the morning. I also recomend soaking the parts in warm water overnight before you begin. Goo-goo is a citrus cleaner and works for small area of non-primed acrylic paint and marker. It's best use is removing sticky residue from stickers though and it doesn't do much on enamel. [i've soaked stuff directly in it.} it is safe on metal. Acetone [nail polish remover] is good for cleaning glass .[like anybody here would ever clean glass.... cough cough ] It can be used in cleaning white plastic of paint but do not expose colored plastic to it for more than a few moments and rinse quickly and repeatedly else it will fade the color severly quite deep into the plastic. [see attached pic] DO NOT soak colored plastic. As it causes fading you would think it might work at removing yellow from white plastic. Yes and no. I soaked a yellowed jetfire leg in it for about 5 minutes [the plastic side] and while it definately faded the yellow down quite a bit it was still yellow, just a different yellow [if that makes sense]. Extended exposure melts plastic quite well easy off and anything containing copper sulfate [like algeacide] is death to iron based metal. They should remove paint well but some might cause dicoloration. Easy off seems the popular choice] most paint removers you find in hardware stores are for latex paint and are pretty useless muriatic acid cleans well but unless your plastic is perfectly ph neautral watch the heck out. It also doesn't work on ph neutral paints [i have encountered some]. Were thick rubber gloves or have a working mans hands when you use it. Be in a well ventilated area... trust me. NEVER mix clorine [bleach] with muriatic acid as it can kill you, unless that was the point. It can discolor colored plastic and may/may not give a yellow tint to white plastic... I've had both happen. It will eat flesh. sulfuric is typically a weaker version of muriatic [unless you get comercial grades] but without the chance of yellowing. It will eat flesh. chlorine/bleach can/will yellow white plastic and is better used as a disinfectent. Anything that is safe on linoleum or vinyl should be safe on plastic but it usually dosen't work that well. I have heard many good things about future though I haven't tried it myself. {hey... I get the pool chems free rubbing compound is a polish abrasive and will scuff clear plastic by the time the paint is gone. Works well on metal though, if you have the patience. It does work well on a rag after you have loosened the paint with a solvent and rinsed the part off. gasoline works pretty well on most paints and you can soak most parts in it. Rinse stuff well and rub with a rag or sponge. don't be careless with flame. I haven't tried oxy-clean but I am curious. How about teeth whitening gel? I'm fairly certain that it's bleach based but it does whiten our teeth.
  6. 1/76 scale non-transforming non die-cast max is why you haven't seen it. As cool as GBP-1s are... the 1/76 just isn't anywhere near as popular and most sell at high prices only because silly people can't tell the difference. If you look at max you won't see landing gear
  7. I really don't want to know what you were looking for when you stumbled across that one....

I'm sure I'm still missing some peps but I wanted to give blugts props before I forgot/got distracted
  15. well folk... I know this is not the correct forum and I plan on cutting and pasting this into my trade post as an explanation as to why I am pulling out. All trades/sales are on indefinate hold with kl884347 being the only exception as he paid so I must loot from my personal collection when possible... Anyways... those who know me know I might be a hippie but I have a good heart and try to live by the golden rule... I told my wife if she ever smokes crack again that I would leave her... she smoked crack again... My responce... after spitting in her face and destroying the livingroom [no fish were hurt though that took much restraint and a tv didn't fair so well - but I didn't raise a hand towards her], was " You made your choice!" I will try to loot what I can from the household when I can but all trades/sales are on indefinate hold... even the boxed up stuff [sorry rewooh and pfunk]. At this point in time I care not about pretty much everything. All I grabbed as I left the house was my work bag, estwing tools, passport and birth certificate, and the title to the car I just bought. My collection, my camaro, my soul, are all still there. YYou guys have been a pleasure in a life full of pain... I thank all of you who have made MW such a posative experience... I hope to see you all again... the deeper sorrow cleaves into your soul... the greater it's capacity to contain joy If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger. I don't have time for crackheads.
  16. uhm... if you go to the for trade forums and find my trade post... in it is a link to my old "army builders" post which had two in the background behind an army of 1/144 destroids. I can take more pics if you need but they will probably be a while.
  17. with some modification they can be. Somebody named mgrexx posted pics of a converted one on robotech.com claiming it was availible exclusively via an easter egg just to confuse the poor guys
  18. now that is too funny what do you make of this guy??? I won this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...tegory=348&rd=1 it arrived without instructions or stickers... and now the seller is selling this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3151218081 I already sent an email asking WTF but have yet to get a responce.
  19. big o' forgets he plunked down a wad of cash on steel batalion. Then again... it did come with a joystick I have no problem spending cash on good stuff... but I back it up anyways. I find it easier to get a copy than rent a copy on most instances to determine if I should buy it. Heck... I had original copies of worms armageddon for psx1, dreamcast, pc, and n64... till my n64 got jacked while a friend was borrowing it. With as much time as I spent playing that game I would have sent money directly to the programmers if I could LOL. Back-ups can have their use though... My one friend still harasses me for shattering his copy of enter the matrix. Heck... I've spit copies of power stone 2 for dreamcast out just so I COULD break them... that game really pissed me off
  20. kanata67

    gbp-1s

waaaaaay out of my price range. I gotta buy airsoft to bribe rob with I do appreciate all the pics. It's a really nic piece and the pics will be extremely usefull when I paint mine you may also want to either have this moved to the for sale section or post a cross post there.
  21. spawn back in 99 in a limited fashion. Hard core in 2001... amazing how many gaps in a collection you can fill with student loans macross since about september last year...
  22. lets see... about three months if I recall. It still opens and closes as long as a disc is in it but if I forget to have on in it when I close my burner I have to dig out my dental probe and forcible eject it. Then again poor mr burner has easily made numerous thousands of discs and is long overdue for an upgrade/replacement.
  23. what??? you can't deal drugs and be trustworthy??? or did he lie to you about dealing in the first place? Good karma at you either way. as for Christa McAuliffe... she was the first teacher in space... she was also well know for such jokes as... what color are Christa McAuliffe's eyes... blue... one blew this way and one blew that way what were her famous last words... "what's this button do" what was the last thing in her head... the dashboard her last words to her family... "you feed the dog and I'll feed the fish where did she take vacation... all over florida why is the official drink of NASA coke? because they couldn't get 7 up how do you fit seven astronauts in a compact car... put them in the ashtray As for wrecking cars... been there done that. If you have ever parked a car in a tree... I don't me around mind you but actually in a tree 15 feet off the ground... you might have an idea . Off roading in a 81 camaro is never a good idea either . My first vehicle was a chevy s10 that my dad gave me after getting hit by two snowplows, a backhoe, a deer, and rolled twice. Great first vehicle though... I used to roll it for fun and never got yelled at as my parents never noticed the additional damage. just remember... it's only a mistake if you don't learn from it
  24. never heard of a MANDOLIN rewooh?
