  1. I love my import MSG3 for PS2. I bought it the same time as my PS2 Macross when I was over there a year ago. It was the only other game I really wanted at the time. I'm really curious to one day get a Neo Geo and play the old ones on that. I think they were the same as arcade tho?? The Neo Geo MS games used to go for crazy prices like 1-$200. Now MS is more readily available for other systems I don't know if its still that high.

  3. Yep, sorry, you're right. I just had the feeling i'd heard them all before when I watched it for the first time the other day. I think it must have been when I borrowed a friend's soundtrack years ago. I still can't really figure out why I liked Dynamite so much. Maybe I enjoyed the lesbian scene just a little too much
  4. I thought the Movie was very weak actually. No new songs, animation quality was barely better than the TV show and the story was uninteresting. They didn't even bother to make new opening animation. Just a tacked on episode imo. Dynamite was really something new and different at least.
  5. Great review! Just finished watching D7 and I actually enjoyed it though. I must be a sick, sick individual! My favourite part was the ending theme, 'Parade'. nice setting Basara to live backgrounds. Dot and the Kangaroo style!!!
  6. I'm Australian and that's very interesting, thanks for the heads up Renato. Damn, now I have to buy the Australian set too!! Nah, I have the RT Perfect Collection tape with it anyway. That'll do. Scary thing is that a lot of Japanese fans would have paid those prices for retail tapes back then due to the 'bubble economy' . It was hyper inflation back in the Japanese '80s but people had plenty of cash to pay for it apparantly!
  7. I have an Australian/Euro SCPH-39002 PS2 with a DMS3 modchip installed. I have yet to find a PS, PS2 or DVD media that it can't run. It runs my original import R2 DVDs, PS and PS2 backups, JP original games etc. I highly recommend this method of modding. Using a HD sounds intriguing because I use my PS2 for everything! I don't own a stand alone DVD player and I'm worried I'll wear my PS2 out soon enough with all this talk about shoddy manufacturing Andy, it is true that PS2 online will block you if you have a modchip installed (It can detect it in your system). However the DMS3 is so awesome it even has a stealth mode to avoid this detection when playing online (the system will revert to its original capabilities). The stealth feature is also useful when installing utilitilies like the DVD player disc etc. which won't install on a normal modded system. Wait, you have a PAL PS2, and it plays NTSC games/DVDs? I also have a DMS3, but an NTSC unit... I wonder if I can play PAL games? Lame as it sounds, I kind of wanted the Knight Rider games for PS2... You can!! My friend brought home a Japanese PS2 from there, modded it and now he can play domestic games here. Keep in mind that you're monitor has to be multi system . My PAL PS2 does put out an NTSC signal after being modded but my TV is also multisystem and accepts it unlike a lot of older TVs here.
  8. My friend has one installed and you can use any hard drive, can also be old ones from your old PC! cool!! I have to investigate more.
  9. It will detect your mochip UNLESS you have a DMS3 chip with stealth mode like me! http://www.dms3.com/home.htm
  10. Keep it up Low Viz. Always enjoy reading your detailed posts.
  11. Hi Graham If you don't mind me asking did you preorder your Design Works from an online store and if so from where?
  12. Kind of like the Bush haters..
  13. "Lets Fire!"?..... hmmmmmmm. Sounds flaming. It burns when I pee! well I had to put my 2 cents in after finally getting thru the series.
  14. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD After receiving my FX M7 boxset in the mail over 3 months ago I've finally managed to get through all 49 episodes and the Encore eps. It took me so long because as many have said before the early part of the show is too slow and the middle gets very repetitive. However I feel as if there was a payoff in the last 10-20 episodes. Some of my favourites were episodes 44 ('Nightmarish Invasion') with its star wars style dog fight and the follow up ep 45 ('Ambitious 4th Planet'). These had some truly heart wrenching and spectacular moments. I just wish Gamlin had stayed dead. Episode 44 would have been much more significant and special that way and would have increased my respect for the whole show. It would have reduced the invincible superhero mecha angle that they seemed to have going, which I hated. Episode 37 ('Mystery of the Space Ruins?') was another redeeming point for the series. It really extended the story of Macross and better explained a few things. Its good to see these explained in canon rather than reading them second hand on the Macross Compendium. Mylene was the standout character in terms of style with the staff obviously taking great care in animating her. I mean she had multiple new outfits in almost every episode. How often does that happen in anime? Although she started off annoying I really got to like her (not in THAT way!) by the end of the show. I agree with most here that the battle animation sucked and the Sound Force designs were a bit too out there. VF-11s in the show went beyond the definition of cannon fodder!! The music is pretty great imo. I mean better than you're average anime soundtrack, something a little different and Fire Bomber make the Jamming Birds sound like the J-Pop candyasses they are! I suspect the producers purposely made the Jamming Birds' only song sound as weak and lame as possible just to make Fire Bomber sound better but hey there were some great Fire Bomber songs in there, for anime. I really hated how the love triangle wasn't resolved however the Encore episode 'Which do you Love' was hilarious with Millia interfering. Great stuff! Encore ep "Fleet of Strongest Women" was just cool. Especially the Mylene version of the DYRL? ending. I mean this had some decent battle animation for once and a few very cool mecha with new animation (Armored VF-11C). Overall I happily recommend Macross 7 for all its flaws as a legitimate Macross sequel. Let's Fire!!!
  15. who said anything about stealing? I use my modchip to play imports and backups of my own games only.
  16. That's XBox. PS2 lacks a coherent online system. Assuming you can tell from the outside world, it's up to the individual game servr maintainers to block or not. I haven't connected my PS2 online before so I don't know first hand but my DMS3 instruction sheet says its stealth mode is for this purpose. ie. it is possible for servers to detect the chip in your system and block you.
  17. The DMS3 modchip certainly allows you to play DVD originals from any region on earth. It definately works when I load up my R2 of Versus on my PS2. http://www.dms3.com/home.htm

  19. Don't forget, Hikaru ejected in SDF Macross episode 16, Kung Fu Dandy.
  20. Big Ups on that. Very nice indeed, well done.
  21. oh cool, there's 20 pages on Yahoo Jp of VHD discs and players. Its about time I added one of these to my stack of obscure format AV decks. Teen Wolf is gonna look so sweet on genuine VHD!!! The dream? Jaws 3D on VHD with 3D decoder!!! Blueray is for losers, '80s movies and Japanese 'Gravure' videos on VHD is the future.! Catch the wave of the future at: http://disclord.tripod.com/vhddiscworld/ It's totally rad.
