  1. Ok, I'm selling off a few pieces from my collection of robots. I've only included one photo of each of the actual figures for sale, as I'm sure most of you are already familiar with them anyway. They are all in mint condition. Details below. If you'd like to see more detailed photos, there are literally thousands of them all across the web that show them off from every detail and all of the nifty little features they possess. I'll leave that up to you.

    So here we go...

Yamato 1/48 Roy Fokker VF-1S complete with full strike/super pack and Yamato display stand...

    IMG_1575a.jpg

This Valkyrie is in absolute mint condition. It's never been transformed. I've only ever displayed it in fighter mode. All of the sticker decals have been placed precisely according to the instruction manual. All parts and accessories are included and all three items (valkyrie, super pack, and stand) will be shipped in their original packaging. These three items are being sold as a set and I will not be splitting them up at this time.

    SOLD

I will accept PayPal or international postal money orders for those who wish to avoid those pesky PayPal fees. Items will ship only AFTER the money orders has cleared the bank. Shipping will be determined by your address. If you are an absolutely serious buyer, I will get you an accurate shipping quote from the post office, so there will be no over-charging on shipping.

Arii 1/6th scale DYRL Lynn Minmay PVC figure complete with 20th Anniversary display stand...

    IMG_1577a.jpg

This one is pretty hard to track down nowadays. Minmay stands around 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall from the climactic DYRL scene. There were two versions of this figure released back in the day, and many of them had that gaudy blue and maroon paint application on them. But this one has the proper paint scheme with the much softer, film-accurate colors. Very detailed and well-painted figure. Minmay is in absolute mint condition and will be shipped in her original display packaging...

Authentic Japanese Shitajiki (下敷き, literally under-sheet) is a Japanese word for various types of materials placed under a sheet of paper for writing, either to prevent marking on the sheets below or to provide a better surface for writing. They are usually referred to as pencilboards in English.) This one features an absolutely beautiful piece of artwork of Miss Minmay from DYRL...

    IMG_1579a.jpg

These are frequently sold in Japan as collectibles. They're basically intended to be used as something rigid to place your paper on when writing a letter, and feature artwork from many different popular anime and manga. I was using this one as a backdrop for my DYRL shelf, and the artwork of Minmay is gorgeous. It almost looks like a laminated film cell...

Tsukuda Hobby Evangelion 00 18" Prototype Model...

    IMG_1590a.jpgIMG_1588a.jpg

Now this is a rare gem. These were produced a loooooong time ago, and this one is still in it's original shrink wrap. It's never been opened. Direct from Japan, Rei Ayanami's 00 Evangelion stands a colossal 18 inches (45.72 cm) tall, and includes the massive rifle, display stand, and tiny little Rei figurine. It comes pre-painted and pre-assembled. You simply have to apply the decals. This is a special piece for any EVA fan.

    $50.00 USD + shipping and/or PayPal fees.

And since I know there are a lot of robot lovers here...how about a few masterpiece Transformers?

    20th Anniversary Optimus Prime...

    IMG_1583a.jpg

This is the Hasbro American release of the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime with an additional upgrade: I personally replaced the short smokestacks with full-length replacements. (original short smokestacks will also be included in the sale, though.) Prime is in absolute mint condition with the reflective eyes, moveable mouth, all accessories, light-up matrix of leadership...the works. He has never been transformed. I have only ever displayed him in robot mode. However, I no longer have the original box for him. I always keep all of the display boxes for all of my collectibles, but somehow over the years, Prime's box was misplaced and I haven't been able to find it. So this will be shipped without the box. But all of his parts and accessories are accounted for.

And finally...we have the Takara Masterpiece MEGATRON...

    IMG_1580a.jpg

Once again...absolute mint condition. All parts and accessories included. Will be shipped in original display box. He's never been transformed. I'll even include the additional doll stand that I purchased to give you that extra piece of mind that he won't tip over when you have him on display.

    $110.00 USD + shipping and/or PayPal fees.

...and that's it. All the information is there. Again...don't ask me to box these guys up and make a special trip to the post office for a shipping quote if you're only window shopping. Serious buyers only. You should have a pretty good idea of the ballpark shipping costs already. Otherwise...feel free to contact me to claim any of these items.

    Thanks for looking.

  2. Just lookin' for a Yamato 1/48 Valkyrie display stand somewhere in the U.S. Shipping from overseas retailers is a bit extreme, so I'm looking to pick one up stateside.

Anyone have one they'd like to unload? Or perhaps point me to a known U.S. retailer offering them at a decent price? I'd appreciate it.

(BTW- I'm only interested in the grey/blueish version...)

    Thanks.

    ~Brian

  3. Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Ace, you rock. This is exactly the info I've been looking for. Thank God somebody took the time to explain all this.

I'm still reading it, but I finally feel like I'll be able to decipher all these different DVDs now.

    Thanks!

    Back to reading...

  4. Sheesh.

So I guess that's what I'm coming to grips with...

    "Robotech never existed in Japan".

See, now I was always under the impression that Robotech exited in Japan first. It was simply called Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada, with different music and a few extra scenes that were cut from it's American presentation. I always thought Carl Macek and Harmony Gold simply lifted the animation from Japan, edited it, re-scored it, and dubbed it.

    That's what I've always thought.

So you're telling me that the original Japanese (Animeigo version) stories feature completely different animation and storytelling from what we know as Robotech here in the States?

So if I purchase some of the Animeigo DVDs, I'm going to be seeing something completely different from the animation in Robotech?

  5. to be brutally honestly, i could care less about minmei, misa or any other chick on the show, i want to see more action!  i wanna see some VF's kicking the crap out of the zentradi.  i know macross wouldn't be the same without the whole protoculture bit, but why not more arse kicking scenes?  and lose the damn music, atleast don't play the whole damn song like they do in any other movie.

Yeah, no wonder you didn't like it. Minmei's music is pretty much the backbone of the whole story. ;)

Based on your comments, I would direct you to my above "Jerry Bruckheimer" comment.

    But hey...to each his own.

I think it's safe to say that DYRL is...a strange cinematic animal. But it sure is pretty to look at. ;)

  6. Hmm.

Ok. So now I think we're getting to the heart of my confusion in all this...

It was my understanding that the Animeigo versions of Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada were all basically the same exact animation as the Robotech sets, except in they're in Japanese with subtitles and perhaps have a few scenes included that were cut out for the U.S. Robotech presentation.

You guys seem to make it sound like the Animeigo DVDs and the Robotech DVDs are two completely different animals. What exactly is the difference?

    _____________________

...and on the Robotech side of things...

Jagull: I'm inferring from your statement that the 5.1 sound enhancement is the only real frill of the Remastered set. The features say they include "bonus footage". Is this the same bonus footage included in the extra discs of the Legacy sets?

Aghh! It's all so confusing!

  7. The bottom line is that if you're one of those people who watches a movie (anime or otherwise) just for the explosions and gore then you really don't need to waste your time with Macross or Robotech.

    That's not what it's about.

What makes Macross/Robotech great is that it's about character relationships set against the "BACKDROP" of interstellar war. The battles and bloodshed are completely secondary to the relationships of the characters.

So if all you want to see is "some Zentraedi getting gored by those female battle-armours", and other mind-numbing random explosions...well...there are a number of perfectly good brain-dead Jerry Bruckheimer films you could go watch. ;)

  8. Hey, all...

This is my first post on this forum, so...hi!

I've been a Macross/Robotech fan for years and now that I've heard the AnimEigo DVDs were going to be discontinued as of 12/31, I figure I should get off my procrastinating ass and buy them up while I can.

So my question is...which DVD sets are "supposedly" the best to own?

They've repackaged these sets in so many different variations, that I'm not sure what's the best one.

You've got the complete Legacy set in 7 volumes...

    67_1.JPG

You've got the "Re-Mastered" sets in 7 volumes...

    drt1d1.jpg

...and then there's the complete seasons wrapped in 3 volumes...

    ROBOTECTMACROSSCOMPLETE.jpgROBOTECHMASTERCOMPLETECOL.jpg20_1_b.JPG

...and then there's these Macross SDF sets in 3 volumes...

    av002230.jpg

    ...the Southern Cross boxed set...

    southerncrossboxdvd.jpg

...and of course, the Mospeada boxed set...

    APR033888.jpg

    Whew! What the hell??

So what's the best set for a hardcore fan to buy? I realize that the "Collection" sets are probably just the "Legacy" DVDs packaged together, and that the "SDF", "Southern Cross", and "Mospeada" sets are imports.

So what's the difference between all these? It's very hard to find lists of special features and so-forth. Which set offers the most hardcore bang for the buck?

Any input would be appreciated. And if there's a thread somewhere that already breaks all this down...feel free to point it out. There are 30 pages of posts in the "newbie FAQ", so I haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

    Thanks!
