  1. *Watches with interest* My new 1S from Duymon has a slight crack. I know I'll have to replace them soon, but I want to get a couple other prints lined up first, to save on shipping...
  2. It cracks me up, how ridiculous Cassian looks in that Imperial uniform. It obviously doesn't fit, and his facial hair has got to be out of regulation. I wonder how far they'll get with those disguises.
  3. GO! Is one of my favorite Fire Bomber songs.
  4. I think we ALL wanted to see more of Emilia, in every way that can be interpreted. Really, Emilia was a very good character - more engaging in that 1/2 hour than many other characters that had a full series. Not just dissing Delta here, I'm talking full franchise. One of the best voices in a 30 year series about singing, great mecha skillz, good backstory & a great Mikimoto character design (supported by the high production value of the short). She really was a "Flash in the Dark."
  5. It's little off the highway, by Target. I think their imported model prices are a bit high, though. Last time I looked at a Cosmo Zero there, it was marked at $45.
  6. Not sure how the prices compare, but I recall that Hobbytown USA had a decent selection. It's in Robinson Town Plaza, by IKEA. There's also a place called Hobby Xpress in Cranberry, which is a bit closer for me. I usually just get supplies there, though. Most of the time, I'll just order a few kits at a time from HLJ.
  7. So, the Gusion has been upgraded wth a giant pair of side-cutters? I mean - I guess that's an ideal weapon against Gunpla - but wouldn't that weapon (and meta gag) be more appropriate in Build Fighters? That moment was really quite silly to me. I really like the Gusion Rebake from S1 - but I'm not too sure about the Gusion Rebake Full City. And just what the hell is that supposed to mean, anyway?
  8. So... Are we not doing "Phrasing" anymore?
  9. I love how he's incorporated the gimmick of each set into the micro scale.
  10. Omg, those are amazing!
  11. Hnnng! This looks like it'll be awesome. I might actually be tempted by this, depending on how long it takes you... Speaking of which, did you ever offer the little Vajra for sale? I can't remember ever seeing it here, or on your Shapeways store.
  12. Yes, yes it is. And yes, you should. That clip is only in the 4 episode OVA, and is one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise - cementing the 11B as my favorite Valkyrie. The movie adaptation of the story is a tighter narrative that, unlike the Frontier movies, overall follows the same path as the OVA series.
  13. I, also just watched last night. Thought it was an ok ending for the series we got - it was just an overall meh series. There's a lot that's already been said that I agree with, so I won't retread. What I will say is: White Drakens looked awesome I have 0 interest in buying any of the toys for this show - even without the preorder madness. I might get a 1/72 VF-31, cuz it's a neat design, but I won't do it as a Delta Squad VF. I felt like the songs in the second half of the show were a let down: They didn't introduce many new songs in the second half. The epic moments for Mikumo on the cat-planet & at the end just used the Ending and Opening credits songs that we'd already heard. Love Thunder Grows was awesome, but never appeared elsewhere. Almost the same with Ikenai Borderline. Granted, Frontier did this too, with Infinity... And I know that Frontier used Lion in it's final confrontation, but the Absolute Zero OP song has been disappointing ever since episode 14. It didn't work for me. But speaking of songs, I have some rambling thoughts about Ai Oboeteimasuka: While Frontier used it as a thematic turnaround from DYRL, here it seems to be the Song of the Stars. Although, I think it would've made more sense to have the music be the same, but the words would all be in the PC language; rather than a different tune with a few recognizable phrases. After all in DYRL, Misa (somehow?) translated the words into Japanese, but the music was found on Bodolza's ship. Perhaps the (retconned) reason that the song affected the Zentradi so significantly in DYRL is that it was intended as an override song. So, the lyrics & song were kept on hand for the local cluster's Star Singer as a failsafe. Now, in this case we have a full-powered Star Singer using the song inside a special fold-wave amp that can use it to link minds across the galaxy. But, without that "stage,"maybe it's possible to use it it directly override attacking Zentradi, or other rogue PC sub races. Over the series, I've felt that there has been a connection between the Windemeran wind singers & the Mayan wind priestesses. It seems both are descended from direct Protoculture blood and have significant fold receptor capabilities. I've often thought (without any official backup that I know of) that the Mayan island chain was the wreckage of a city/colony ship like Altira. So, perhaps PC colonies had this song around in a "break glass in case of Zentradi" setup, where a powerful singer could use it to turn the tide. Minmay just didn't have quite the fold receptor power, or maybe the right language, to fully take control of the Zentradi fleets.
  14. Is it just that the Zentradi aren't sure how long they live, because they usually die in battle? Or are they not sure of how the Zentradi body behaves in Miclone size? I think I'm jumbling old RT information in my head - thinking that Bodolza, Vrlitwai & Exsedol have been alive for hundreds of years, and that Macro Zentradi are essentially ageless. If that were so, it would support both of the questions above. Please correct me if there's canon information from official Macross continuity there. I was big into the Palladium RPG back in the day, can't read Japanese & my eyes honestly gloss over in the Mecha/Tech thread half the time. So I'm always suspect of whether any of my thoughts of the Macross history have bad Macek/Simbeida junk sneaking in.
  15. I know it's OFFICIALLY in Macross City, I'm just saying that the OVA left me with a different perception for a decade, so it's a little hard to reconcile. I'm just laying out my pre-contradicted thought process. I'd have to check YouTube, but I'm pretty sure that the movie version changed up the order a bit, as part of it's fairly effective narrative streamlining. It probably makes more sense in that regard. As far as being West of AK Base - I have not seen the Chronicle map, I'm afraid, so I didn't know geographically where it was located. The difference in day light indicates that they'd be pretty far though. I did think of Eastern Russia - as a mostly blasted out, desolate landscape, the Earth looks pretty much the same wherever you go. While we don't see the ocean at any point, it could be below the cloud cover in the post-flashback portion. And VF's do move pretty fast... OTOH, in DYRL the sea level seems to have dropped considerably, so maybe there's less water in the Bearing Straight. This is all a Moo Point, though - as it's canonically Macross City we see. So, perhaps they just strayed pretty far from the city in the later portion of the dogfight. As far as my remorse comment goes - the two pilots did have time to reconcile their feelings, joke about lunches, have a hearty laugh AND air-dance for a while. You'd think there'd be a moment of "Oh sh*t, we did a lot of damage back there... Hope we didn't kill anyone in our petty squabble..."
  16. It's a shame that it's only 10ish cm long. If it were 20, it'd fit in nicely with the Hasegawa SDF-1. As it were, it they made a Quarter for this collection, that would be about the right scale - easy to convert to attacker, too.
  17. Without reading anything here, I think I've decided to just wait until the next episode is out, then watch 25 & 26 together. I have lost much of my enthusiasm here. Even the VF-31 and the Walkure songs I have on my phone have become less interesting. We'll see how this wraps up...
  18. I always felt the same. In SDFM, we saw the growth of cities & settlements built around crashed Zentradi vessels. It seemed to me that the duel took place in a city that was abandoned after the Emigration project kicked in. The main story evidence that I saw were: 1) No visual cues of the Macross during the dogfight 2) No remorse about the damage they caused, even when they calmed down & cooled off 3) Isamu & Guld have no idea about the concert/brainwashing until the Ghost arrives, broadcasting Borderline 4) An implied (although this might've just been me) period of time between the launch of the ghost & it's arrival with Guld & Isamu 5) And, primarily - in the OVA, ep 4 begins with Sharon's concert, and it's night time in Macross City. At the same time, G & I are entering the atmosphere, then have a battle at sunset. This always implied to me that they came in in a very different location. Although, thinking of it now, they'd have to be West of M City, which is in Alaska... Where would they be? IIRC, they reordered the movie a bit, but I only saw that for the first time a few years ago. Good analysis on the relationship between the characters. They're really some of the most human anime characters I've seen (at least in scifi), and really the most interesting of the franchise's triangles. Hmmm, thinking of it M+: Is there a deliberate similarity between Sharon Apple's emotional system and the Spiritia Absorption Beam used by the Varauta? Both draw from the emotions of the target by firing a tight beam right on the forehead. Just to a rather different degree... EDIT: OK, I just watched a bit of OVA 4 - the concert/brainwashing and the launch of the Ghost all happen at the same time that Isamu & Guld are entering atmosphere. To me, this is quite clearly indicating a different location for the fight. Sure, maybe they changed it of the movie - cuz when DON'T they change the story for the movie? There were several of them parked in the ocean on Rax in Macross 7. Notably, Fire Bomber held a concert on one, where Mylene used her song energy to ease some tension between her parents.
  19. True, but Kaname, Makina & Reina were all in the compartment where the legs would normally be. In order to vector downward thrust, the belly doors would have to open & the engines would fire directly where the girls are. The 22 was on a display stand. I presume that Arad just blew out the wall & punched it. Even if it skidded along the floor on it's way out, the 22 would achieve lift once it exited the tower.
  20. Yeah, that would've been cooler. Arad shoots out of castle & takes out AA guns. Starts swooping toward H, M & F. Then H tells the girls to jump Arad matches their velocity & opens up the 22's belly doors, as the other 3 singers hold on tight He scoops up H & F, but Mirage has drifted too far away! Nicely mirroring Ep 13, F uses her rocket skirt to catch M & get her back into the 22, as Arad pulls up just before they crash All this could take place in like 10-15 seconds & it would've been great!
  21. Making lunch for my daughter this morning... Ninjin loves you, yeah! (null)
