I think he’s lamenting the lack of an HG Strike Dagger. Which I’d agree looks pretty cool.

Has anyone let them know we get the same damned thing here in the US, except everyone mistakes every robot for something from Transformers?

That, and they’re very clear about the pilots being mostly child slaves. It’s frequently depressing af. But a really good show.

I wasn’t looking to directly equate the 2. I actually like 7 a lot, ZZ is growing on me. However, both were comedic follow ups to pretty serious entries, in order to change the tone. Both have very repetitive first 10 episodes or so. I found myself humming Planet Dance during the Shangri-La portion of the show. Both are polarizing among fans of the worthiness of their entry in the franchise.
And, since their original airings, both franchises have had more contentious entries; giving these shows a little more legitimacy.

It’s like Gundam’s Macross 7.

So, I thought about taking a break from the ZZ shenanigans to watch the Thunderbolt movie. And then there was the jazz...
I’m up to ZZ#18, and it’s definitely gotten better since they left Shangri-La.

As much as I would love to have the UCS millenium falcon, I can't see myself ever shelling out close to 1k for a toy.

Wow. Sold out everywhere. Bandai, message should be clear, we want more 31a. Milk it, give us different pods.
For a moment, I was all NOOOOO!!!
Then I realized that this is good. I'm no longer tempted to drop a whole bunch of $$ I don't have on something that I have no place to display, and no time to play with.
It is purdy, though...

While I’m rolling my eyes at this whole thing, the giant crocodile bit happened immediately after I thought “what about the lizard/Godzilla one?”
Well played, trailer editor. Well played...

I'm about 8 episodes into ZZ. I've heard it was a rough one to get through, but phew... Experiencing it first hand is a whole other animal. Gonna try to hang in there. They're just leaving Shangri-La now, so maybe a change of venue will help.

I'm officially on trailer & TV spot lockdown at this point. The last one was enough for me!

I'd say one piece tray, bc my carpet loves to eat small parts. And really, how many of us take the missiles out, even on the VF-4?

Holy carp, Xigfrid!

It was a good night. Batman couldn't keep up with Catwoman & her friend though, so he and I slowly plodded through the neighborhood. I was worried he'd get all mad at me and demand that he should be Sauron, cuz that's what he does lately. Fortunately, he was not jealous at all, except maybe that I got more attention.
the glow sticks were a bit of a let down though. You could only really see it once it got really dark and we got away from the street lamps. I also got snagged in a few trees...
Final assemblies for the boy and me:

I'm keeping it cheap, so I'm going to put a couple orange glow sticks in the lantern. Maybe a couple at the bottom too, to simulate lava.

Since our town will be doing Trick or Treating tomorrow, we had to finish up all the costumes today. My son wasn't wearing his final shirt for test fitting, though.
My Barad Dur costume slumped a bit after painting, but I think it's fun. Not sure if I'm going to bother with the balaclava, it's a little too tight for my comfort.
-
So, as I'd mentioned in the 1/20 Valkyrie thread, my son was going to be Sauron for Halloween. He then changed his mind to " Adam West Batman," but then said I should be Sauron. He's 4.
I'm finally making progress on that costume, and it's ready for paint tomorrow. Bonus: the cats are already eyeing this for a great fort.
I also have to figure out wtf is going on in my my engine after replacing an O2 sensor...

I maintain that this should have been part of the show.
Hayate teaching Mirage to loosen up and fly like her true self, via teaching her to dance both IRL and in the cockpit would have been a true evolution of the characters presented in the first few episodes. What happened to the Immelmann Dance? It was kinda silly, but it and battroid were shown as his specialties and were off-putting for both the enemy and his team. CLEARLY it should have been part of his final battle against Kieth, who's strength was in fighter mode.

Good on you, South Korean pilot-dude, for now grinning like a dope the whole time.
I know I would be...

Alright, so I'll be starting work on the Sauron costume this weekend, I have 2 weeks until we trick or treat here in the 'Ville.
In the mean time, I mentioned that I'd show my current WIP:
It started with the Marvel Legends BAF Iron Monger. I found a good deal on eBay, and thought this guy had some potential. As it was, the figure I bought arrived broken, so the vendor replaced it with another for free! Here's the raw figure, standing beside 2 Black Series 6" troopers. My plan is to mod this figure into a 1/12 scale Space Marine!
I removed the original hands & forearms & fashioned new with some 3/4" tubing. Turns out the hands of an MG Dom (that I've had laying about since 2002) are right in scale for this guy. I'm going to bulk up the fingers a bit, to make them look more like gloves than robot hands. Legs have been lengthened with some 3/8" spacers & custom stompy boots were printed from Shapeways. This adds about 1/2" height to the figure, bringing him to ~ 8.5 feet in-scale. I might add a little torso length to bring him closer to 9 feet.
Unfortunately, I mis-scaled the helmet that I designed. It's about 15% too big. Will have to readjust that and try again. I also have a backpack designed in 3D, but I'm gonna wait till I have a few other parts ready & find a coupon before I order. The nozzles are designed to rotate.
In the mean time, I'm working on putting together his first armament, a bolt pistol. I'd originally planned on using an MG Ground Gundam gun, but I found a Kotobukiya M.S.G. rifle that seemed to work better. Just chopped off most of the barrel & swapped out the grip. "Pistol" seen here in the arms of the FO Trooper:
And apparently, I can't get rid of this extra pic:

LOL, in my search for an alternative way to watch Zeta, I came across a dub that's literally one guy doing different voices. I didn't stick with that long enough to see what he did with Fa or Emma.

I guess I'm biased but I've had enough of young kids saving the world or young kids being in positions of high authority - yeah, yeah... I know its every Millennial's fantasy to boss over these old fogies but it just makes all these films so fantastical (when you already have to suspend so much disbelief for giant robots!). Our Millennials here can't even change the photocopier toner and then expects us to cheer when they finally do it with lots of help?! Boy, how old do I sound!
(quietly gets off the soap box without hurting my back!)
Yeah, damn Millenials... They all wish that they could simply jump into the cockpit of an advanced mecha with no training, save the world and the pretty girl, too; all at the ripe age of 16...

I bet the red jaeger with the katana is the girl one.
As much as I like Boyega, his epic-type speech doesn't really seem to stack up to Elbaba's. I'm meh on this one. I'll go if my friends want to check it out.

Hobby Search has actual photos of the TV Storm Attacker:

That looks awesome!
After looking at these, I think I've figured out my main issue with the DYRL version.
The down-sized bridge tower is just way too small. It looks like the attacker's been decapitated. Or Zika.
