I can see M&M VF-22's and VF-11C as possible versions in the future. 19 and 17 less likely since Bandai already are interested in 1/100 versions of these.

Wait, so separate deals for each Macross 7 toy that Yamato wants to make in 1/60 scale in the future?
If I remember right, licenses may pertain to specific mecha as opposed to entire shows, however with Macross 7 Bandai did sit on the license for a long time, and from what it seems, was the only company able to make toys from it legally, until now.
Perhaps, and this is building off of the rumor, Yamato has to make deals with Bandai because Bandai has some Macross 7 toys planned in 1/60 scale too. Maybe Bandai will let Yamato do specific versions that they themselves have no plans on making. For example, maybe Bandai didn't want to do a VF-22 and instead wanted to focus on the core cast, such as Sound Force(VF-19, VF-11MAXL, VT-17). This would enable them to make the Blazer Valkyrie/Emerald Force variants, VF-19P, and VF-17. Or maybe Bandai got the VF-171 license, and Yamato got the VF-17.
Since Yamato also has a VF-11B tooled up, maybe they can reuse it with minimal retooling as a VF-11C(would it even need retooling?).
For the VF-17 and it's associated variants(aside VF-171), I guess whomever gets the license is able to make all VF-17 variants from Macross 7 only.
The basic VF-11C would need no retooling just a repaint. It does need a new gunpod and slightly different fastpack boosters though.
Less retooling then a VF-22 thats for sure.
Bandai might want to redo their original M7 toys with modern technology at some point though and that means the VF-19 and VF-17 variants are offline to Yamato.
They never made the VF-22 or the VF-11 though so they might not care for those.

Unfortunately, that does not matter. The VF-17 was also in VFX, doesn't mean that Yamato can make it. Same with the VF-22. Why? Because those first appeared, and are therefore under, the Macross 7 license. At least, that is my understanding of how the license works.
On the other hand, Yamato is releasing the VF-22, which first appeared in Macross 7, not Dynamite. This lends credit to the idea that Yamato has the full Macross 7 license, including Dynamite. Otherwise, some special arrangements must have been made between Bandai, BW, and Yamato, or these toy licenses are far more complicated than any of us imagined.
One thing is clear, though. Just because a Valkyrie appears in something a company has the license to, does not necessarily mean that Valk is included in the license. There's certainly more to it than that. Otherwise Yamato's VFX license would have covered pretty much all the Valkyries we've been clamouring for.
Could be that Yamato somehow cut a deal so that they could make the VF-22 since they already had the YF-21 which means 90% of the VF-22 were already done and Bandai had no interest in spending money to make a entire new mold.
The VF-17 is another story. Bandai may want to keep that since the VF-171 in frontier is a version of the VF-17.

Just picked up the new hobby mags (June issues of Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby). Not much new news about the DXs.
No new pics of the Macross Quarter or Ex-Gear and no announcements of any new DX. I was hoping for news of a DX VF-171 or VF-27.

There are some quite large and clear photos of the Armored Ozma, but they still show the clear unpainted armor, so nothing really new there.
There are some new photos of the actual painted accessory sets (Galia IV Fold Booster & Speakers and Ghost+weapons set) and they look nice, but that's all.
Graham
Any chance you could post a scan of the accessory sets ? I'd love to see them in color.
-
Why couldn't the 22 come with the same stand as the 21 does ?
Anybody know if it comes with correctly colored attachments for the fold booster atleast ?
-
Graham do you know anything about how the bellyplates on the VF-22 will store the gunpods ?
Will they be accurately stored internally ?
-
Im pretty sure the unnamed Valk is the VF-17.
VF-0D seems most likely since its the easiest and cheapest to make. The VF-17 featured heavily in M7 and Yamato has already started with a Dynamite 7 VF-22 so. I guess the VF-4 is a bit to obscure but then they did make the VB-6.....
-
A VF-19 (Blazer or Fire) is alot more work to make then a VF-22 since its just a couple of things different from the 21, but we can always hope.
Im wondering, since yamato is doing the 22 from Dynamite, might we see some commercial Vf-1's and whale hunter customs ?
VF-1's with harpoons FTW

I dont know which is better looking, the yf-21 or the vf-22. If you could only pick one, just one of the two, which would you have chosen? On the vf-22 shown, I hate the yellow, specially on the arm and feet. If it was white or black, it would be so much better. he yelow stripe on the yf-21 looks nice though, and the blue seems really nice in this case. As for the head and the windshield, i honestly cant make up my mind....
I prefer the conventional cockpit and less covered canopy of the VF-22 and i think the internally mounted gunpods are cool. But i don't like the red tinted glass so much. Either head is fine by me though.
I like the M&M colors better then Gamlin's but still its the first VF-22 so its must buy for me and finally Gamlin gets some love too.
-
Maybe Yamato is just testing the waters with VF-22 to see how much interest it sparks and how well it sells.
Maybe Yamato gets the rights to the Frontier Movie
........oh well i can dream -
Maybe they just open up and you can place the gunpod into it and then close ?
They need to be deeper aswell if they are gonna hold the gunpods inside.
And it should really be dark green...unless its not Gamlin's VF just something made to look very similar.
-
WOOW, the 22 looks nice!!
The 19 variants look nice but... I agree a VF-X2 VF-19A would've been WAY better.
The M7 license is in the hands of Yamato? Really??
Bandai probably still have the M7 license, but not Dynamite 7.
-
Gamlin's VF-22 WOOHOOOO!
I wonder if they changed the bellyplates and you can now mount the gunpods internally.
So Yamato can make Dynamite 7 but not regular M7 perhaps ?
Perhaps a VF-19P then for Basara.
Any word on the release date or is it too early ?
-
Just got the VF-1D, it looks great.
Now to save up for the VT-1 and VE-1 and im all set for 2-seaters......and virgin road ofcourse.
And a brownie or two.
.....and Max TV 1A
...and oh crap my wallet

Low vis YF-21.

Or how about a skull leader YF-21 ?
YF-19 angelbirds..think that would look cool too.
-
Just ordered one myself. One thing i love about this new VF-11 is that you can flip on the heatshield in fightermode too.
Too bad Yamato can't do Mac 7, the white 11C sure is a looker.
-
I respect people with different preferences.
I suppose Yamato would come up with something more lineart accurate. Less durable (the current 1/60 v2 is durable enough for me) maybe, but more pleasant to look at.
I don't "play" toys now, and I want poseable nice-looking units for display. So I like the Yamato way better.
Thats how i feel too. Im more of a display oriented collector and don't "play" so much with them so 100% solid isn't a must for me, i rather have near perfect looks in my own opinion.
I have never had a single one of my 10 Yamatos break or damage but i can understand people who do have problems its not pleasant on a $150-200 toy.
I will eventually get a DX, i'll just wait a while and see if Bandai makes some refinements and just pick the version thats been perfected the most in the looks department.
Make it a little slimmer overal, have the legs sit higher in fightermode, redo the hip placement and give it better and longer landing gear ( I don't care if they have to be detached in order to do that) and its a done deal for me. And perhaps a few magnets on the armor pieces that are too loose.
-
If the VF-4 is out of the question the then they really should make the VF-17.
Afterall they did make the VB-6 so why not more from the line....because other then the VF-0D and reactive armor what other options does Yamato have ?
They can't just keep cranking out VF-1's for eternity either.
-
Any more news on the phalanx ?
-
Damn that miscolor is ugly. It really ruins the look of the toy and this is the only one i wanted to purchase...
-
A question for those who have the RVF-25 Luca kit. I know the VF comes with both standard stickers and waterslide decals, but what about the ghosts ?
From what i can see it looks like the ghosts only comes with waterslide decals and not standard stickers. Is this true or does it come with stickers too ?
Since im not that good of a modeller and the model needs so much decals i usually like to use stickers.
-
normally it's for 03/28 for the RVF 25
Ah thats what i get for not bothering to check the website.
-
So the VF-25G is out now but not the RVF-25 ?
Aren't both supposed to be released at the same time ?
Or is the RVF-25 pushed back for release later or next month ?
-
The phalanx looks great, i also hope they do the blue version.
And if Yamato can make a 2 feet long SDF-1 they sure can make a 1/60 monster too.
