1. Wow, you people are judgemental when you can barely see anything in the teaser. Besides, its an all-new take on TFs in its own continuity.
2. I wouldn't take those CG renders at face value. For one thing the artist in question takes some liberties with Don Figueroa's designs and makes them EXTREMELY CHUNKY AND BLOCKY. I mean the CG artist has Pat Lee-ed Jetfire there. He's made both WW Jetfire and Stormbringer/Classics Jetfire look considerably worse than Don F designed them to be.
3. Dammit. I can't believe it. We dominated the game and they were down a man (a rather harsh decision on Italy). And they got a penalty when their man fell ontop of our defender in the box (a stupid decision on us). I can't believe its over when it was going so well. I mean 32 years
4. We haven't seen any pics of its alt mode yet as the comic hasn't been released. Well, Don Figueroa designed both of them.
5. In other news, Classics Jetfire has been confirmed to be the Jetfire seen in the upcoming Stormbringer comic book as seen below. Described by Kickback at TFW2005.com as: "This figure could be the best figure in the line. If you enjoyed the G1 style for the jet mode, you're in luck - it's pretty much the same, even with the extra red armor/weaponry thingy whatever (I do not own a G1 Jetfire). In robot mode, he resembles mostly the G1 toy, but does have what feels like a G1 cartoon chest. Apparently he has two heads/faces? (like in War Within, a "battle mask" or whatever, so he has both cartoon and G1 toy faces/heads). Not entirely sure, couldn't tell in the picture, was actually told that." No pics of the toy yet. Will be Voyager class, so will probably be around 20cm tall in robot mode.
6. Which is weird given the US team is ranked fifth in the world. That was Sweden playing Germany, I believe. Australia plays Italy next week.
7. I hope Australia manages to do well against Italy. There's some talk that with their troubles at home and their possible fear of our coach (who managed S.Korea which beat them in 2002), they'll be somewhat preoccupied and will lessen their skill and international experience advantages.
8. Why is eugimon going around in circles? What I base my argument on is the fact the addition of the hip-things clashes with the rest of Starscream, and as well as every established G1 SS design.
9. Oh will people stop banging on about cartoon accuracy and using the cartoon as an example of not being accurate to the original toy? Its the basic design thematics of that have been changed with the addition of the things on the sides of his hips. Not that its inaccurate to this particular form of media or to the original toy. Its inaccurate to ALL of established universal Earth G1 Starscream (that isn't set in an alternate universe like Infiltration). All of it. I'm not talking about the fins magically dissapearing in the cartoon. I'm talking about the addition of two large...... things on the side of his hips. That is a much bigger change to the established BASIC G1 Starscream design than the G1 cartoona Marvel comic's removal of the fins in robot mode.
10. Well, if the fact that the japanese TF fandom HATES the Kiss Transformers line, I think they have some common sense. But so far Takara don't seem to care about that. They are banking on Kawamori's name alone to make up a large portion of the sales. Hasbro had nothing to do with MP Magnus. Takara released it after (apparently) seeing the Dreamwave comic where Ultra Magnus breaks out of his armour to join his brother, Prime. Plus it was a cheap way to get a new toy out without any significant R&D costs.Prime had no trailer because the trailer would just be a big box on wheels that would SERIOUSLY increase the retail price of the toy. Ultra Magnus' potential trailer would be of more use, but would VASTLY increase the retail price of the toy. Takara already got their money's worth out of the tooling, that's why they're releasing a 'Perfect' edition with a plastic trailer now as a collector toy. Because Hasbro deals with a much larger mass-market, they don't have that luxury. Prime is a Masterpiece because it attempts to transform from a relatively cartoon-accurate robot mode to a half-decent truck mode whose cab looks significantly different to the robot's torso. That's what makes it a masterpiece. Realism has never been a cruicial factor in Transformers until Alternators. No need to be rude.I think you're missing the point that it kind of spoils the fact this is a Masterpiece version of G1 Starscream if he is changing the design enough for it to be an alternate Starscream. Because the those additions to the hips now clash with the rest of Starscream's design, and the established design thematics of G1. The hip things would be fine if it were say, a Cybertron figure or an Alternator version of Starscream or something.
11. There's a line between say, Hasbro and Takara's designers designing a new toy based heavily upon a G1 toy. Its an homage, they respect what came before.Kawamori doesn't really respect the source material in this case if a Masterpiece G1 toy (a definative version of the original toy and character) can have such drastic major design changes just so it fits his personal preferences for realistic fighter craft. Oh, if anybody is wondering, I'm hardly the most G1-fanatical person. I never really liked the original jets. The flaps on the boxes are taped with a single stripe of tape, but the inner tray is just 2 pieces of un-taped plastic trays. So yeah.
12. Like I said, turning him into a valk is not to best way to represent the classic G1 form of an iconic Transformers character. Defeats the purpose if Kawamori is out to turn it into a personal fantasy variable F-15 that just happens to look like a Transformer. The knees are double jointed, so its *possible* they can assume gerwalk configuration.
13. Its different. Look at the stuff on the sides of his waist, new crotch, new lower arms, new null rays, new legs. SydneyY of the TFW2005.com boards said that according to the article, Kawamori suggested a few alterations and they changed the model accordingly. Apparently those waist/former leg parts are altered so that they "can be moved to the waist", whatever that means. I am not sure I like the way he moved the kibble on the sides of the legs to around SS's waist - this rather defeats the purpose of making a Masterpiece G1 Starscream if they are willing to make such drastic changes to Starscream's design. On the other hand, the plane looks great. Robot looks more kibbly
14. Same shape. It looks weird because of the angle - it has the same general shape as Cybertron Voyager/Mega class toys, but abit smaller, so the angle of the sides are more inclined. Takara haven't even acknowledged that these toys exist. They claimed to be taking a break from mainline (low-cost mass-production) Transformers in 2006, and Cybertron/Galaxy Force was the last joint line for them. Essentially Hasbro and Takara's relationship is back to where it was before - Hasbro designs toys for the US Transformers lines that Takara engineers, but Takara may or may not ever release them in their own markets.Hell, aside from one solitary press release in late 2004 where Takara's president claimed to be excited about the prospect of a motion picture, Takara don't appear to acknowledge the movie, either. The japanese fandom is curious about the movie, but have little information about it in their own country.
15. I should point out that is test packaging - that's why its made out of old Cabbage Patch boxes
16. I think it was because the Decepticons threw all of their 1984 and some of their 1985 bots into the battle, while the Autobots had their forces divided. Autobots In City Ultra Magnus Springer "We're outnumbered!" Arcee Blaster - with Steeljaw, Eject, Rewind and Ramhorn Perceptor Grapple Wheeljack (corpse seen) Windcharger (corpse seen) Slammer (white tank turret belonging to Metroplex, the latter of which is apparently a component of Autobot city, but never seen or mentioned in the movie). Initially Outside the City Hot Rod Kup Outside the City Sunstreaker (later appears as Prime's shuttle co-pilot due to animation error) Hound (later appears next to Prime due to animation error) Huffer (is killed off screen and whose corpse is seen in 'Dark Awakening') Bluestreak On Shuttle Ironhide (dead) Ratchet (dead) Prowl (dead) Brawn (dead) On Moonbase 1 Optimus Prime Jazz Cliffjumper Grimlock Slag Sludge Swoop Snarl (seen VERY briefly) Moonbase 2 Bumblebee & Spike Decepticons who attacked Autobot City Megatron Starscream Thundercracker Skywarp Soundwave - Rumble, Frenzy, Laserbeak, Ravage, Ratbat Thrust Ramjet Dirge Astrotrain Blitzwing Kickback Shrapnel Bombshell Scrapper Scavenger Wideload Mixmaster Hook Bonecrusher Originally, it was storyboarded that Ultra Magnus was to have a scene where he drives up to Devastator carrying Tracks and several other expendable older G1 cars.
17. Mystery of G1 - Early Autobots were generally more heavily armed than Decepticons. Most Decepticons had a non-firing rifle and/or a sword. Most Autobots had a rifle and one or two firing rocket launchers. And they outnumbered the Decepticons, too. The two Autobot scientists, Perceptor and Jetfire, are also heavily armed too. Jetfire has the Super Valk FAST pack, while Percy has a rifle, launcher with 3 missiles, and his shoulder magnifiying lense is considered a cannon.
18. Presumebly because Transformers are generally big, bulky robots. Who then turn into big bulky fighters and spaceships as dictated by physics.
19. Its 6 inches tall, partially die-cast metal for $15USD. What more do you want? War Within Jetfire. All new G1-universe and G1-related alternate universes have a combination Jetfire/Skyfire design.
20. New Titanium Jetfire test shot pics (most likely unfinished), judging by the fact it appears to be missing faction symbols. As for movie Megs, they already did that with Energon Megatron/Galvatron, whose alt mode was a homage to both Cyclonus and Ravage's Transwarp Cruiser in Beast Wars. Who knows what they'll do for the movie.
21. Black Lio Convoy featured in Beast Wars The Second (Japan only) and presumebly Black Big Convoy in Beast Wars Neo. As I understand, they were both evil clones. In Armada, their version was Nemesis Prime, a body with shape shifting powers possess ed by Sideways, the Avatar of Unicron. Managed to blow half his face and his limbs off before he finally 'died'.
22. I didn't like SFC because he was kind of a generic robot action figure in robot mode, and a japanese robot donning armour in Super mode more than a traditional TF. Plus his gun is puny.
23. The majority of his colours are still dark, only a small fraction is bright orange and a tiny amount of yellow for lights.
24. Interesting you bring Cybertron up... look at Cybertron Megatron. There's a REASON I'm hoping that Classics Meggie gets a Galvatron repaint. Hasbro's current attitude is "Make Megatron brightly-colored and ugly, then once sales fall off make a Galvatron repaint that looks like what Meg should have been in the first place." I don't see the pattern you seem to believe.Armada Megatron - Dark green, purple, grey bot mode with orange highlights. Armada Galvatron - White with burgundy, dark grey and lavender robot mode with gold highlights. Energon Megatron - Metallic grey (to emulate G1 Megs and the original toy colour scheme of G1 Galvatron), dark blue and energon Green (Decepticon unified energon colour at the time). Energon Galvatron - Dark purple (technically incorrect colour for G1 Galvatron, but otherwise slavish recreation of G1 Megatron's colour scheme and deco). Cybertron Megatron - Bright orange and purple because he posseses the armour of Unicron. Grey as generic Megs chest colour. Colours clash to emphasise the fact he rebuilt himself out of the wreckage of Armada/Energon Unicron. Which one? And please stop quoting images. 406851 Its apparently a Cybertron repaint of Cybertron Crosswise, because Hasbro's original name for the toy was Smokescreen. Here's a gallery of the Galaxy Force version
25. That's not Smokescreen classics - that's a recolor of another toy. 406596 And its not 'Black Convoy', either. Its Nemesis Prime.Takara cancelled their BTA Black Convoy repaint last year when their last Crazy Scheme failed
