1. 69.99 for that box set is way to expensive. You should be able to find it on ebay for cheaper. There are also several other dealers that have it for cheap. One example is rightstuf.com which has all three boxes for only 39.99 each. here is a direct link: http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmg...tem/57694/4/0/0 I also have a set of all three miniboxes that I am selling back to a second hand dvd shop. If you are interested let me know before Monday... that's when they get sent. I'm looking for $85 flat. That includes all shipping within the us. As others have stated. Animeigo is only subtitled and ADV has both subtitles and a 5.1 rnglish track with a dub.
2. I'm looking for a mint copy of Macross II region 2 DVD. I have several things that I'm lloking to seel and would be willing to trade for it. Here is a link to items I'm selling in the "For Sale/Trade Forum." http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=19594
3. I have a set of all three miniboxes that I was planning to sell in the next week or so. I'm asking for $85 flat (shipping in continental US already included). PM me if your interested.
4. Uh, what? Damn, I've got to look into this! I adore the Patlabor films one and two. 394085 http://www.bandaivisual.us/products.html
5. I want to thanks "SaveRobotech." He Contacted me regarding an item I was searching for months ago. Deal went thru just fine. Very happy with my Macross Zero R2 DVD set. Would definitely buy from again.
6. I will keep an eye out for you here in Tokyo, but most used DVDs sold here are still priced high. I'll check around on Monday and list the prices they have for the dvds you listed in yen. Can you link me or send me a pick of Mech Graffitti VHS and Minmay Special. Used tapes sell pretty cheap. 338764 Sorry I havent replied until now. I've been away for the past week. But that would be great if you were to find anything. I'm particularly interested in the Macross II region 2 DVD. But, I would only do so if I could get it for $50 or so. Getting it for this price may be difficult but I figured it can't hurt to ask. If its available, great! If not, oh well. But either way thanks for offering.
7. I'm interested in buying used Macross Region 2 DVD's. Specifically Macross Plus, Macross Zero, Macross II. Also interested in Mech Graffitti VHS and Minmay Special also on VHS. I know that CDJapan still has some available, but I'm hoping for a used price discount. Anyway, If you have any of these and are considering downsizing your collection. Please let me know.
8. I have a complete set of Macross 7 Region 2 DVDs in perfect condition. I have been considering selling them, but have not decided yet. Currently, I am hoping to back them up with English Subtitles first before deciding to sell/trade them off. Either way this won't be for a couple of months. I can give you more details if you are interested. Either way all of the Region 2 DVD's that I have: Macross 7, DYRL and Flashback are very good quality both in video, the disc itself, and packaging. Only downfall of Region 2's are price and lack of subtitles (which you have stated does not matter to you). Sidenote: Region 1 Animeigo SDF Macross Set did have an extensive restoration where the Region 2 counterpart DVDs did not. Many consider it to be of better quality, One of the few cases that a Macross region 1 appears better than a region 2.
9. AnimEigo was able to do the quality restoration work that they did for this series because of the preorder commitments and payments made for the original 9 DVD set box by people such as yourself. So think of it as you being partly responsible for the restoration of Macross. As for anyone, who is concerned with DVD cracking. Why don't you just back up your DVDs. That's what I did. The duplicates play as well as the originals. I'm currently selling some extra AnimEigo sets with the DVD-r backups included. Another thing one can do to preserve thier discs is to store them in a more reliable DVD case.
10. AH, thank you. That is exactly what I meant. So then I am definitely missing some pieces. Because I can only keep them in one mode at all times. Unless of course I mix and match different color parts from each valk. Which deosn't seem right. Thanks for the clarification.
11. But what I have is only enough parts to have one specific mode. I have: A CF brownie in Battaroid mode but it has no extra feet, canopy or tail wings to make it into Gerwalk or Fighter. I can only keep it as a Battaroid. Same with my Hikaru VF-1j type. I only have enough pieces to make it into fighter mode and nothing else. And my Max vf-j type can only be a Gerwalk and has no extra parts for Fighter Battaroid. So, I'm understanding what your saying as: All three of these variable models (CF, Hikaru, Max) should EACH have extra pieces such as feet, cockpit and tail wings. And, that EACH should be able to change into all three modes. Is that correct? That means I am missing pieces from each model. Also, I only got one full stand. I thought it was pretty odd that they would make variable models then not give you enough pieces to actually transform them into each mode. The only way I can transform them is if I mix and match parts from each figure. But then I end up with a multi-colored valk. Well I guess that's why the price was cheap.
12. In the Macross K&M figures. Are the transformable ones supposed to come with all of the accessories so that they may be posed in all three modes? For example, does 1 box with a VF-1S (transformable type) have all the pieces so that it can be posed as Fighter, Gerwalk, Battaroid? Or, does 1 box come only with the pieces so that it may only complete one of the poses and you have to buy additional boxes separetly? Do you guys Following me? Basically I got a scond hand set but the transformable types only have enough pieces so that they may complete only one pose. For example: My Max type can only be posed as Gerwalk, My CF Brownie can only be a Battaroid, and my Kikaru type can only pose as Fighter. Is that right? OR are there missing pieces. Either way seems pretty lame. Thanks for any help you can offer.
13. Animeondvd.com is reporting that Manga will release a Macross Plus 2 DVD Box set on 6-14-05. No details on what it will contain. Info can also be seen on Manga.com's "coming soon" link. Would be nice if it included a remaster of the movie. Since the quality was pretty subpar.
14. I once had a FX DYRL DVD that did the exact same thing. It would get up to a certain point and crap out. And, it was brand new right out of the package. So I figured the disc was defective.
15. Yup, it is absolutely true. It requires warmer humid conditions to survive. But again, it is also very rare.
16. If I recall, CDs and DVDs are officially immune to moisture. Aside from scratching/cracking, the only natural thing I know of that can damage them is a particular strain of fungus in Belize that eats the disk. Actually, CD/DVD are susceptible to damage by moisture/humidity. If you get a CD/DVD that is scratched deep enough (It usually happens on the label side more so than the data side) But a scratch that reaches the data layer can allow moisture and oxygen to exasberate damage to the data layer and the adhesive that holds the disc togehter. Delamination and oxidation are two of the long term problems that occur with mistreated discs. Again, these are very extreme examples I am referring to and I know I'm suggesting overly precautious measures (removing inserts). But, part of what I do is archiving so it has become more of a habit than a nuisance for me personally.
17. Actually, I'm pretty sure those where there when I got the disc's. Then I'd chalk it up to the specific batch of plastic used, I guess. *shrugs* Are the clear swirl marks that you see on the the hub? Because that is most likely just the adheisive that was used to seal the discs. This might explain it better: http://www.memorexlive.com/data/dvd_hubs.pdf Does it look like PDF slide #4?
18. Until stress of use causes them to snap/break in the middle of the "M" so they have no tension and utterly worthless for holding the disc in... Cyc True it's possible. Fortunately, I have yet to have that problem. But I consider myself an extremely careful when it comes to handling my discs and their packaging. Also it really depends on how much one watches a particular DVD. I don't watch my movies so regularly that my DVD's are constantly being taken in or out. Finally, I figure it's cheaper to replace a case than an out-of-print DVD. What I would suggest is get a dual M-lock DVD case. they are the same size as a regular DVD case and hold two discs on each side. One side can hold the original for asthetics the other side a DVDr backup to play from. I only watch the DVDr backup, and can't notice any quality difference. If the DVDr ever does get damaged I will just make another backup from the original. All of the paper inserts I remove and store elsewhere since they can capture moisture/humidity and help in damaging discs. (This is only a concern if you live in a very humid enviornement to begin with.) Which I am for the next year or so (top floor/attic appartment). Eventually, as someone else pointed out Blu-ray backup is the way to go.
19. Dvd's can get damaged at the hub because of the type of dvd cases that is used (As someone suggested earlier). Bellow is a link to an excellent DVD cases that I use for all my DVD's. They are called M-locks. By far the best dvd storage case. They also offer a two dvd case holder. You can use it to hold the original and a back up all in one. Check it out for yourselves. http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/p...leM-LockDVDCase
20. If you can find a timed subtitle script for it, I can show you how to create the substream from scratch. But, at that point, we would probably want to take it over to "other anime." My membership at scriptclub.org should be coming through in a few days. I'll look for a script for you when it does. And now. . . back to Macross. . . If you don't mind me asking, what program did you use for editing the subtitle stream?
21. Macross: DYRL Region 2 is NTSC for all who are wondering. Japan works on NTSC just like the US does. Maybe it was due to the USA occupation after WWII, that they adopted this format. Honestly I'm not sure for certain. The only difference between USA and Japanese DVDs is that one is region 1 and the other is region 2. But again, both are encoded in NTSC format. Also the region 2 version; in my opinion, is much better quality than the FX. I've seen some region 2 version for sale on ebay occasionally. The price was around $35.00. I was puttering around adding subtitles to a Region 2 DVD. However, that has been placed on extended hold (Think of Yamato YF-19FP delay) because of my graduate program. So, I'm sure Hurin will beat me to the punch. If I ever do finish, I will make my subtitles available. Hope this info helped.
22. My personal preference is for the cockpit design. My First choice would be B without "macross plus" on top. My Second choice would be A without "macross plus" on top. I Edited the original post because it sounded more like I was stating what the available choices were rather than what I preferred.
23. Hello: Got mine today. The seat is a little crooked. But oddly the figure sits straight. Whereas my vf-1j the seat is fine, but hikaru always looks to have his eye on 4 o'clock. Can't tell if skulls are crooked because this is my first skull ever. Both skulls look the same as each other on their respective tailfin. However, I can tell you that I'm missing a backpack antenna. There's nothing but a hole. So, what should I do? Since I'm new here I'm not sure how the parts exchange works? Does one just post a request and hope someone can help out? Also, If I could get an extra antenna, is it difficult to install? All in all, I like this valk, the joints are perfect and the transformation and locking is the best of any I have had so far.
24. Animeigo.com is having a christmas special on Macross. Boxset 39.99 and Individual DVDs 14.99.
