  1. Fellow Collectors, I'm not an avid collector where I buy two items for every purchase; one to open and the other to keep. But sometime after reading the GBP-1 pre-order tonight, I've thought about the number of boxed Yamatos and PG Gundams in my closet. Do you guys have your collections insured? And if yes, can you guys recommend some companies? I'm really curious how some insurance companies handle for example, a lot of 1/48 Low VIZs...uh...take Godzilla's collection for example. These figures go up in price. Will the insurance cover the current price of the item or just the original purchase cost? Lastly, any members here from New Orleans, Louisiana who lost a collection? (a bit of a lame question, but just curious) Thanks.

    Heads up!

I agree, all petrolium based products including "injection/blow moldings" will be affected, so heck yeah, expect a price increase as price per barrel increases. But don't worry, it'll probably take another 100 years before we run out of fossil fuel...hah hah...j/k...that's plenty of time to save up for a real GBP-1 armor system. Just save $10 a week, don't buy that hamburger or fast-food, for 20 weeks, and you'll be good! Anyway, 2 pre-order for me. I told my fiancé that once i get these parts...that this is it, no more toys! Heh heh...
  3. Hiyah! Try placing the figure and packaging separately in a roomy box. Add holes on all sides of the box. Then sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the box..add something on the bottom of the figure so that it doesn't touch the baking soda. Place 'em outside for a week and let the baking soda kill the smell and have the natural breeze suck up the smoke smell. Make sure to cover the box to block off sunlight. Hmm...I don't know if this will work...but you can try. If all fails, use disinfecting wipes on the toy, and wrap the packing in newsprint with rat poison marbles to suck up the smell...er, like the "do not eat" package that Katana mentioned above.
  4. hey guys, how many gbp-1 armors are you guys getting? and do you guys know if the armor will be sold separately or will it come with a valkyrie? i picked up an august '05 copy of hobby japan, and scanned an article of the gbp and cf valkyrie...and maybe you guys or somone has posted this already, but can anyone translate it? jason
  5. yeah! and how about a VF-6 with the VFB-9, the so called Alpha & Beta fighters? i think we can all agree that Yamato has covered the aethetic element on these figures, especially the 1/48s. i think if all three companies were to do a joint effort, then a little more details with the panel lines will be great and most important, poseability ... and the ability to hold poses ... maybe a combination of industrial silicone rubber and metal alloy joints that can be tightened with hexagon screws for joints...to hold all the armor and weapons you can strap on these machines. and, be able to do poses like the "RAH" model figures ... and even go beyond that by exaggerating some parts to accomodate poses. Poses! Alright, I want a full 2-up 1/48 transformable model tomorrow in the board room by 8 am...meeting ajourned...blam! (slamming a keg of brew).
  6. Looks pretty dope Jade! As for my workbench: Perfect Grade 1/60 FA-78-2 Custom ... I think it'll stand really nice with a 1/60 GBP-1 VF-1J.
  7. Yep...it's you...and if you like Macross...or a huge Macross fan...just go for it. I think at some point in our lives, we've been influenced by the shows in many unsuspecting ways. I'm in a weird predicament ... this year and it seems that next year will be excellent times of with the release new Yamato toys ... I'm proposing to my girlfriend next month. 1/48 CF is coming out and along with the GBP-1 armor ... ... and so I'm like, grrrrrarrrrrrr! We're saving for so many things right now, especially for a house because housing prices in California is so expensive ... money lock-down sucks, but i'm gonna bite the bullet and buy upcoming 1/48 additions anyway! Hopefully soon, I'll be able to share some of my Macross/Robotech artwork with you guys on my website. Akabob, go ahead and get more if you feel like it man. I agree with Rune, it does help you relax a bit after a hard day's work, seeing that figure and knowing that you are not alone ... it just makes you happy? Right? And it helps the growth of your relationship.

    1/48 VF-1S Hikaru

yeah, don't forget and keep in mind, sometimes the production crew and directors will use very little colors as much as they can when the opportunity presents itself. isn't all this covered in Miyatake Kazutaka Macross & Orguss Design Works or Valkyries: Tenjin Hidetaka Art Works of Macross? bah, i don't know what i'm talking about.
  9. Thanks guys ... definitely right about saving up for the 1/48 CF and the GBP ... probably a better deal in the long run.
  10. Hey Guys, Check out this auctioin: http://cgi.ebay.com/MACROSS-Low-Visibility...1QQcmdZViewItem Is "valkyriedude" a member on this forum? If so, I bet you already have plenty of Low Vizs, Give us fans without a low viz a chance. So do you guys think $400 is worth it?
  11. Hi Gang, Just out of topic here ... I happened to stumble on the Toynami display cases at the 2005 Comic Con and saw a test figure for the Beta Fighter (VBF-9?). I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but here are some photos taken with my cell phone. Better and higher resolution images should be popping out soon on the net. The figure is close to 12" inches tall and pretty buff. What do you guys think, is this Toynami figure worth the purchase? More photos: http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture1_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture4_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture5_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture6_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture7_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture9_web.jpg http://www.teamvariance.com/Picture11_web.jpg
  12. I'm not a dad yet...but Legos are a good option. Keep the valkyries away from them until they're older and can appreciate their values. That's just me...$127-$145 bones is a lot of money for inexperienced hands. Just throw that stuff in their savings account. Then again, if you guys have plenty, anyone willing to sell one of their low viz 1/48? Hee hee.
  13. Yep, I agree with the Yamato design...more realistic in looks. It'll definitely stand out against 1/60 armored gundams.
  14. i'm interested on a 1/48 low viz also...$250 - $280. i didn't have the money when they came out...$127-$140...and suddenlty they were selling on ebay for $180...then $220...myself and some others maybe SOL like you said...but check out this guy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WD1V ain't that crazy? that's almost 3 perfect grades!
  15. I agree Calvin! Damn them all! Now give us the 1/48 GBP-1 armor! Oh, yeah, and maybe some of you peeps can do custom arms for the Konig Monster that are longer (similar to the HWK-00 MK II by Arii), and custom canon barrels? I'm sure someone has brought up this idea already. Example: http://www.geocities.com/amaclub/images/ff-desmon-1.jpg (do you guys know this artist?)
  16. I just got my Konig Moster also, finally. I am deciding whether to open it or buy another to open. A little short on cash at this time after sacraficing for a G5 to do more freelance work. How the heck are you guys able to buy all this stuff? That Godzilla with over 60 1/48s! Sheesh!
  17. wow, you guys are well off with shelves and display cases...i've seen a couple of IKEA...it's all glass with 4 shelves. since we don't have a lot space in our apartment, and my collection of figures is not that much...i've been planning to create a stand/platform where i display a new action figure every week. currently the figure in spotlight is on top of my computer case. i'm hoping to post them on my website...but i've been having problems finding time to do it. have any of you guys thought about installing "track lights" to illuminate your figures...or would the light harm the colors of the figures?
  18. There's a balance achieved in the way things work out...as long as you do what you want to do that'll do you good. Two years ago when I met my girlfriend, I told her that I still buy and build "toys." She's fine with it, and said that as long as it keeps me happy and her happy. But she does disagree with me in bidding on ebay for a $300 + 1/48 low viz. I'm bidding on a couple of them anyway, but I know I'll lose. You figured I would have just "paid now" for a 1/48 Low Vis after dropping $13K last night on a new Apple G5 and Adobe programs... ...and I still don't have a Low Viz. So hey, it's your thang, do what you want to do...as long as it keeps you happy, safe and dry..and your loved ones too! But uh, once more, great collection man! Now I'm saving for that solitaire ring...and lastly for a house...geez luiz.
  19. holy crap G! my collection of 1/48 Low Viz = 0 'fighting for this one on ebay now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=ADME:B:BN:US:1 do you guys know this seller? Godzilla, how big is your closet?
  20. so around the time macross zero took place...was the SDF-1 already being built? or nearing completion?
  21. for xmas? i wish for a 1/48 Hi NU-Gundam by G-System...it'll definitely look real good with my 1/48 VF-1S is eagerly awaiting the 1/48 GBP armor set...i'm all into that comparison thing. a perfect grade GAT-X105 STRIKE GUNDAM from Gundam SEED and RX-78 GPO1/FB Perfect Grade wouldn't be bad either...would look good with the 1/60 GBP/Valkyrie set. i don't think i'm gonna get any of the above...saving up for a Mac G5 so i can do more freelance work...so i can buy that damn Low Viz!...u know what i mean?
  22. Mr. eXoh Well pardon me with not being so savy with your {IMG}s and [OPP]s. ? Shawn I am sorry. If your servers are crashing and important threads are being polluted with junk replies like mine; reposting the "thunder hummer" photo. And if all peeps, (principal members?), super-duper fans of this board is so concerned about 146k added once more and taking up server space, then start charging so that MW can buy more server space. Of course that defeats the purpose of having a free message board/forum...and ruining thefun. But so what, people who buy $125 action figure can definitely shell out more than pennies for this forum. So stop bitchin' once again, and start recognizing the fact that the thunder hummer should be exploited more and more...maybe G-System will take notice. BTW, I think the GBP armor will be $89.99 USD when it comes out. So don't worry, you guys should be able to buy 50 each.
  23. stop bitchin'! now that the 1/48 GBP armor is finally here, how about a set of 1/48 5th SOG THUNDER HUMMERS armor system to complete the collection! and please yamato, give us articulated fingers like the PG Gundams! http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/magazi...002-page-25.jpg
  24. ewilen, nice pic of the VF-1S and the F-14 next to each other. the 1/48 scales are pretty close actually. please correct me if i am wrong, and check your sources... the VF-1 in fighter mode is 14.2 meters in length = around 46.5 feet the F-14 is 19.5 meters in length = around 64 feet but, take the actual measurement of the 1/48 vf-1s toy...it's close to 12.5" x 48 / 12 = 50 ft. i don't mind the discrepancies...these toys are dope! http://www.artemisgames.com/robotech/Veritech/Valkyrie.html http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/f14/specs.html 'hope to get some pics of my own uploaded soon...once i get a digital camera. "please oh please, yamato, get that 1/48 GBP-1S or GBP-2X created!"
  25. Another noob fan: 1/48 = 7 1/48 Fast Packs = 3 1:48/1:60 Stands = 2 1/48 Clear Fast Pack = 1 1/48 GBP-1 Armor = (fingers crossed) 1/55 = 6 (including jetfire) *missing 1/48 low-viz....anyone willing to sell a 1/48 low viz?
