  1. Check the picture on the bottom right hand corner.

I thought he was going on the straight path...only it's straight to H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks!!

Wasn't that picture posted a few months ago? I e-mailed the guy who had them for sale and he repeatedly said he would not send the items to the US from Japan. I only wanted the GBPs but he wouldnot break up the collectiion, stating whomever wanting it would have to take the whole thing for about $4,500.00 US.

Also read the description, doesn't Jerry Tsai still have the biggest 1/55 collection around?

  2. I dont mean to sound mean or anything, but AMC died in the 1980's, as they sold a BUNCH of Gremlins during the 1970's when Gas Crisis I+II hit.  They also produced the Javelin, and the AMX (2-seat hipo Javelin) during 1969-1971, and the AMX was a Javelin performance package from 1972-1975.  AMC also bought up Willys-Overland in the early 1960's and was their last marque with AMC itself until the Chrysler Corp bought them in the late 1980's.

Actually, AMC was purchased by Daimler/Chrysler and many parts are sold under the Chrysler name to this very day.

Gremlins were only created to compete with the Ford Pinto (which actually sold with feverish success) in sales. The AMX run from 1972 on, basically it was intented as an environmentally friendly vehicle that just flopped.

Since AMC demise, much interest has befallen these vehicle (mainly musclecaresque types). It is a well know fact that AMC Engines, particularly the 232ci were widely used by JEEP as they are extremely well built and reliable blocks.

I personally own a 1969 AMC Rambler, 199cu, In-line 6, Alpine White with Metallic Blue interior (a real grandpa car). It really is a wonderful car. Everytime I show up at a carshow, someone always begins to tell me stories of the time when they or someone in their family owned one at some point in their history.

Still, one day I would like to own a SCRambler Type "A", but $25,000 for a decent specimen seems a bit steep right now. I might just consider building a clone.

***And when I begin building it, what forum would it be under? :p

  3. Here is the one I really want the Type "A", again this is the original paint scheme.

1969 is the last year this marque was produced. The name "Rambler" has bee around since 1912.

Since AMC was closing they decided to make several marks that would go down in history, this little hard-top bomb would be one of them.

Also, the Hurst Corporation collaborated with AMC to create this wonderful machine.

    390 cid, BW-T10 4-Speed, 3:51 Gears, Thrush mufflers...I think, I'll stop now. I'm drooling :)

  4. Well judging from the condition alone, IMO they are defenitely worth the price. If you have noticed most of the other auctions have not even come close to the way these have been preserved.

If anything, this would defenitly been an investment at least 10yrs down the road. The best thing to do is purchase them and have them AFA Graded. Both the VT-1 and VE-1 are in exceptional condition, as well as, their respective packaging.

Eventhough, Yamato may release these in 1/48, the nostalgia factor and raretity of these two birds would definitely keep their value somewhat high.

    ;)
