You were there? Exciting.. I would've loved to have seen it. I'd like to just go to the museum, but the chances of me visiting the UK are pretty slim.. at least for a long while.

The kit came with the decals for it, but I didn't want to make that one since it's got a history that everyone knows and I could be more artistic with my weathering, (since I like to keep my "real" models as accurate as possible). 112 is from the same Battalion in Tunisia, but I couldn't find any info on it's history. I'm also waiting for the Dragon Late Tiger which should be out soon. If it's anything like the early that they released, it'll be awesome. Yeah, it's been finished for awhile. I've even entered it in a local contest already, the Valley Con. It took first in the WWII armor category. No different than the rest of the model. Just glue them together. If there are any gaps fill with putty and sand it smooth.

where's the paint venting to? It's supposed to get sucked outside so you don't breathe it.. looks like a good cheap booth to keep it out of your face though.

Is this something that's only going to be available for the people that ordered through this thread? This is an awesome looking model and I'd like to own one myself, but am currently in a bad financial situation so wouldn't have any "spending money" for a few months at the earliest.

Yeah, Sculpey III actually came before Super Sculpey, so I guess "technically", Super Sculpey is number 4. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two other than colors. III comes in little blocks about the same size as the Fimo blocks. What temp was your oven set at? It shouldn't be any higher than 200° F. Any higher and it will burn. FYI - Sculpey III comes in many colors, although it seems to work the same as Super Sculpey.

I agree that the problem is your type of paint. The point of using oil based paints is so it doesn't interact with the acrylic base coat. If you're using a water based wash on a water based base-coat, you're going to have problems.

So today was a big event at Mitsubishi's North American R&D headquarters in Souther Cali. (where they design the cars) It was called MOD'05, which stands for Mitsubishi Owner's Day Basically it was a "get together" for Mitsubishi enthusiasts, geared towards performance cars. It was huge. So many turbo equuipped 4G63 engines.. heh.. They had a raffle, and showed off a few of their concept cars, as well as the production version of the '05 Eclipse, which we all got to see before the media, which is kinda cool too. The president of Mitsubishi North America as well as the Japanese guy that's in charge of designing the next Evolution (he flew in from Japan) were both there to say a few words and seemed pleased with the turnout (this was the first time they've done this in the U.S.) Anyways, since I own a turbo Eclipse, I went and took loads of pics. Man.. I really envy you. If I had the financial capability, i'd be all over that kit in a heartbeat. At the TamiyaCon last week, there was a tank battle demo and they were demo-ing this kit as well. It was pretty damn sweet. The most I could afford is the 1/35 R/C Tiger I that I got last year. So did you paint the figure too? Hey, that's exactly what I do.. step for step.. I use these to mix my paints. With Tamiya acrylics, the paints lasts as long as I want to keep it. With enamels, they tend to dry out fast though.

Well, if you're shading, and doing highlights after painting a base coat, you kinda have to. When I add highlights, i'll start the air flow on a piece of paper, that way any splatters shoot out then. While keepin the air going, i'll move the brush to the area I want to highlight, then start the paint spray, keeping the coat light so it doesn't build up too fast. It works for me anyways..

I have an Iwata Eclipse HP-BS. I love this airbrush. It's all metal, it sprays so nicely. There's only one tip to have to worry about. It's super easy to clean. Iwata4life I took a few pics. First is the brush, Second is the parts breakdown for cleaning (it breaks down a little more, but this is all you need for cleaning), Third are some line variations I just sprayed real quick

Waiting game? When was the last time you ordered from HLJ? I've NEVER had to wait more than 2 weeks for my order to arrive and the shipping is always reasonable. As long as you order something that's in stock, they're good from my experiences.

Judging from that one pic, I think it looks pretty nice, and would buy it if it was available, but then i'm not a lineart authenticity psycho. With the lack of Macross resin figures out there, i'd think that any new ones would be welcome.

I've been doing them for whoever can pay me, although i'm putting commissions on hold for a while. My backlog of unbuilt kits is pretty big, plus i've been extremely busy with my work. Thanks for the compliments though.. heh

that's a good point. I imagine it's a pretty heavy model.

Heh.. that's just a part of my kitchen, my work corner. It probably looks smaller than it really is because of all my junk too... chairs in the corner, bicycle, car exhaust, cat's litter box, art easle, plus all my modeling supplies piled up... I have a 1 bedroom apartment, so i'm guessing overall it's bigger than a Manhattan studio, but I dunno, yours might be roomy.

It's not even a lack of compression that i'm talking about. The gears and wheels are just huge. I'm sure you've seen this pic, but for comparison, the scale of the gears compared to the plane just looks much more realistic.
