Hi-Metal R
in Toys
very cool, love the setup, what scale?
Judging from the use of Tamashii Stage arms to support them, these seem to be a revival of the Hi-Metal line from 2010, in which case they are 1/100 scale.
So excited to see the line coming back! My Hi-Metal VF-1S is the valk I mess around with the most, the smaller size just makes it so playable. Very eager to get destroids too, particularly a Tomahawk and that Monster!

I wonder if this will affect Bluefin Distribution or is Tamashii Nations a separate line?
It shouldn't really affect Bluefin at all. Bluefin distributes standard retail releases of Bandai products (Tamashii Nations being a name used to cover a wide series of Bandai figure lines), while the Tamashii Web Shop is used solely to sell web-exclusive items, The only potential issue could come from future Dragonball Z and Megaman figures. In the past, Bluefin was able to secure distribution rights for several DBZ/Megaman figures that were web exclusives in Japan. We'll have to wait and see if Bandai decides to keep future exclusives releases in those line to themselves, or if they will continue to give Bluefin the option to distribute them. Aside from the DBZ/Megaman exception, Bluefin has never been granted the rights to distribute any other web-exclusive items over standard retail, so it should all be business as usual.

It was actually displayed in the akiba showroom with the wings folded like that, I guess that's where everyone got it from.
Thanks Keiichi. I like it too. That's how I like my YF-30.
And no, this 'flapping' wings is not featured in the game. Only from display as what close313 said. Thanks spanner76. I like the YF-30 in Gerwalk mode. Though I'm not using the rotating pelvic joint for 2 reasons. One, I like the more traditional/default look. And B, I don't want to use the brackets. Hehehe.
And go get another one so you'll have all modes in display.
Ahh, I see. Definitely a pose I'm going to copy once mine arrives
. -
True. The white hands looks better IMHO.

I've finished the game and I didn't see any characters used a recolored YF-30 afterwards. Only Leon. I assumed the recolor is just an added feature for the valk after you finished the game and play the new plus option. But it's really cool to see an actual purple one.

I'm loving the Gerwalk.
But I'm not using the pelvic joint feature. I'm happy with the more traditional look.

Ooh, I really like how you've got the YF-30 posed here. That's interesting how you have the wings bent SV-51 style; does the in-game YF-30 actually have the same "flapping" wings as the SV-51?

A few more pics of my new FFR-31 Suoer Sylph as requested by Keiichi.
The first with my VF-25 and YF-19 for scale comparison purposes.
iPhone quality only sorry.
Awesome! Thank you, Moosey! Just what I wanted to see, it looks great. Thanks again for putting these pics up so quickly!

Thank you to Kanedas Bike for a great sale.
His communication was prompt and friendly throughout our transaction, he was happy to negotiate prices with me, and once the deal was made shipped my item out immediately. Sent him the cash on 9/21 and had the valk in my hands on 9/24. Item arrived securely packaged, entombed in multiple layers of bubble wrap. Excellent!
Thanks again, KB!

I'll finally get mine when wheeljack ships this week haha
Check your e-mail for a payment request from HLJ! I was in nearly the exact same position, waiting for Wheeljack before shipping my YF-30, but I just got a payment request from HLJ. Paid and ready to go, it only added a dollar to my total shipping cost to include Wheeljack in the shipment!
Haven't clicked "ship" just yet though, my YF-30 can still sit in the warehouse for another 30 days, and I've decided to hope against hope that the VF-25F restocks so I can add it to my order. What will probably happen though, is that I'll just end up buckling and requesting shipping this weekend.

I was gonna post the same thing but you beat me by 3 hours.
This made me laugh more than it should have.

AmiAmi got some stock in for 11,770 yen, if anyone's looking:
-
Got one too, thank you for the heads up, pikashoo! Had to call my card issuer to approve the transaction, it seems like a common issue as CD Japan explains it in their FAQ. But hell yeah for staying up late!
I think AmiAmi had preorders open for a brief time earlier today as well. When you search "DX Chogokin" the VF-25S is at the top of the results and it does not say "Sold Out" underneath the link. Of course, when you click on the listing it shows that preorders are actually closed.
-
And yes, there is a valk inside!! Haha, was a bit freaked out by the sight of the cardboard cover, as this is my first DX Chogokin valk and I was expecting a plastic tray covering Yamato/Arcadia style. It's gorgeous in person!
Well, no harm in trying. If anything happens you'll get your money back anyway (fingers crossed)
I did get a YF-29 30th Anniversary for $110 on Amazon so I'm damn happy with that (THINK its new, didn't transform to check joints)
Thank you, thank you, and thank you for posting that amazing Amazon listing, ULessa! I got a shipping notice shortly after I ordered, but no tracking number. I figured the seller must have shipped unregistered SAL, but couldn't help but worry a bit, haha. Seller completely came through and again, thank you ULessa!
Already got a VF-25A on the way (paid $144 shipped for it, not nearly as good as $92 shipped
but I figured it was still decent) so I can recreate a little section of the hangar scene from the Macross F movie.Thank you again, ULessa!!

hlj's not even offering the yf-30 anymore, so Ami's gonna jack their pricing accordingly.
No competition and bandai's limited availability selling strategy == seller's market...
Haha, yes, I'm familiar with the mechanics of capitalism, thank you. But the thing is, AmiAmi didn't "jack" their price, that 19,390 yen is the price they've listed since release (not sure if it was their pre-order price). Meanwhile HLJ has stuck to the 18,000Y price point for all their restocks (compare that to AmiAmi's VF-25F at 12,000Y, which has been maintained for restocks, versus HLJ's 13,300Y asking price, which I think has risen 300Y in the last week or so). Just not used to seeing AmiAmi having the substantially higher price for a valk compared to HLJ, but then I haven't really paid attention to that in a while so maybe it's more common nowadays.
cause they know people will buy lol
Haha, true enough. I know that if I hadn't managed to grab one of HLJ's restocks I would have happily given AmiAmi my money.

More expense than HLJ or not, it's still under MSRP so not a bad deal at all. Folks obviously agreed as they're all gone!

AmiAmi got some stock in, 19,390 yen:

Bit surprised that their price is so much higher than HLJs.

I have to say it... I LOVE this toy.

If only the VF-25's Renewal were tight and sturdy like this.

Seeing you THAT happy with the YF-30 is making it harder and harder to resist shipping my Private Warehouse order at HLJ right now!

-
Cheap one has appeared. Go get it
Thank you so much for sharing that, I think I bought the last one. For those wondering what the big deal was, it was priced at just $91.63 with free shipping.
Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical that the seller is going to deliver, because that price is just too good to be true! If it arrives though, I'll definitely be back to thank you again, ULessa!
-
In stock on HLJ! Just scored one, woohoo!!
-
Surprised that no one has mentioned the VF-25F is back up on AmiAmi. It's been up all night, thanks I'm sure to their (1) order per customer forever rule;
-b.
Aww man, I have been checking the VF-25F page almost every night on AmiAmi hoping to snag a restock, and the one night I don't check they are up all night. Dang ol' Murphy's Law of collecting.

Thanks, Mommar!
You're the second one to call me 'noeljim'. it's just noeljm. But switching the E with 3. Hahaha!
I'm glad that my video post helped you on transforming your YF-19. After all that hiccups, it will be just a walk in the park when you transform yours again. Let me tell you a secret, I wrecked my YF-21 thigh for 6-7 hours just by transforming him. Only to learn that I didn't pushed properly the knee joints. Price to pay on buying expensive transforming toys. Hehehe.
Anyways, great photos and enjoy your YF-19. Pray also that Arcadia will revisit again the YF-21.

That's what I said, noeljim! Wait a sec... haha, I'm sorry noeljm, I think my brain just automatically puts an 'i' in between 'j' and 'm' when I see the letters together in a name. Even just now I had to spend a good few seconds staring at your post trying to figure out what I did wrong, haha.
And thank you very much for the transformation video, it was really a great help. It's such a shame that Youtube muted it, even clicking sounds can be useful because then I can listen for how many clicks a certain part was moved or something. I did have the Macross Plus OST disc loaded during my whole ordeal yesterday, so it was almost like watching your original un-muted video, though!
I think Yamato's 1/60 YF-21/VF-22 mold was already pretty great (though I also struggled with the transformation, haha), I bought all three VF-22s but I never bought the YF-21 because I didn't want to have it without a good YF-19 to accompany it. Really regretting that decision now
. I'd be okay with a straight reissue by Arcadia, and it would maybe allow them to keep the cost closer to the original Yamato price. If they can somehow improve the YF-21 to the same degree they did with the YF-19 though, I'd happily open the wallet for that! -
Been away from the Macross collecting game for a long while, but I recently had the opportunity to purchase a YF-19 at an amazing price from a very generous seller. It arrived last Monday, but aside from putting some missiles on (which are totally awesome, btw) I didn't mess with it much. I've been studying this thread all week so I'll try to avoid being too long winded (most everything I want to say has already been said), but I just have to gush about the fighter mode; I cannot believe how it looks now! Such an incredible improvement over the Yamato.
Finally attempted to transform to gerwalk today, and I'm a bit embarrassed at how long it took me, haha. What gave me the most trouble was the gerwalk leg joint just above the main knee joint; for the life of me I could not get that joint to pull out. Watched noeljim's and odeean's transformation videos on youtube repeatedly and I just couldn't understand what I was missing, they made it look so easy but I couldn't do it! I had all but given up when I just kinda pulled downwards lightly in desperation and it came out easy as pie. So obvious to me now, I was pulling back too much and failing to un-tab the tab directly behind the joint
. Took me like 30 minutes to come to that realization, I'm so ashamed
. Another point of trouble for me was attaching the shoulder FAST packs, the connection points in the shoulders seemed to be slightly too small (especially on the right shoulder). Eventually got them in and now they attach/detach fairly easily, but I ended up rubbing some black paint off the inside of the right shoulder, grrr. I could tell it was going to happen just by how tight the connection was, but it's impossible for me to have FAST packs and NOT attach them! In hindsight I should have stopped and filed down the connecting peg on the packs a bit, but at least it's a relatively out of the way spot that's easy to touch up. Oh, and I completely agree with the general sentiment that they really should have used magnets for the leg FAST packs. Those gripes and difficulties aside, gerwalk looks so freakin good! With the FAST packs on and under-wing armaments loaded it is just so cool to me! I love the lines of this valk so much. I want to go for battroid mode, but I think I should study up a bit more before attempting it, haha. I'm also concerned about scuffing the black paint around the cockpit so I want to find a good low-adhesive tape to protect that area beforehand.
Anyways, some shots of my great accomplishment for the day.

DX Chogokin YF-29B Percival

Oh awesome, does this mean the YF-29B and YF-30 dogfight at some point (my Macross 30 knowledge is zero)? If so, that's going to change the YF-29B from a "getting it" to a "MUST GET IT" for me, haha.
