  1. back on topic. i hope next month we see robot moe pictures. this is a cool looking toy.

From the looks of it, I'd say that they are going to tease it out with prototype Destroid pictures next month then Battroid the month after that and then maybe some colour pictures followed by sketchy release details. :p

  2. There are always "issues" with new ambitious projects, BT Smokescreenfor example had nasty paint chippings and balance problems but I dpon't regret getting a first run model.

As longh as there are no catastrophic mistakes/problems i.e. the legs fall off putting holes in your floor while they're at it then I'm fine with it.

Someone always has to take the first plunge :D

  3. CF stands for Canon Fodder, which is a nickname for the Brown Production VF-1A that all of the "regular" pilots in Macross fly... basically anybody that's not Hikaru, Max, Miria, or Roy.

Yamato made 2 different versions of the CF in 1/60, a TRU limited edition and a regular release. It's only a matter of time before we see one in 1/48, as it is just a repaint of the already made VF-1A's.

    Yamato's CF in 1/60

Ah, that version. Thanks for explaining Blaine :D

I'm not too keen on those myself, I prefer the flashier ones.

  5. Hi guys,

I've been posting here for a bit and I was saying that the 1/48 Millia would probabaly be my first Valkyrie once I got paid for my new job.

Well I just got paid but before I ordered it I went browsing on ebay and came up with this.

I wanted one o' these even more then the Millia so I bid and realised shortly after that the auction finished while I was at work :(

I felt for sure that I would be out bid as I'd only put in $75 and so I let it go from my mind, needless to say I was overjoyed when I switched my screen on to see it sitting under the "items won" banner :D

Now I just wonder how long it'll be untill I can get my hands on the fantastic Konig monster to acompany it

In the meantime, "come on postie"

  6. That thing is freaking huge!!

I hope they package it in a space efficient way!

    edited for spelling

Now that you got me all thinking, I wonder how they would package this?

Bomber mode in a 14" sq box seems most likely. It's the mode least likely to suffer any damage in transit and has the smoothest profile.

    Fort Max

Right, and in that same flimsy box. I wonder if toy will be heavy?

I didn't say anything about flimsy boxes :)

If it's heavy (which it more then likely will be), then they'll use thicker cardboard and reinforce it.

They've built this toy for crying out loud, I'm sure a box isn't going to stump them. ;)

Speaking of weight, can we assume here and now that there is almost zero chance of diecast. :p

  8. Also, a while back in this thread someone asked about the nose cannons and why they aren't visible in these pics.

Is it possible that they are just not present in Shuttle mode and are covered up by one of the bajillion moving pieces?

Yes, they are covered. There is a hole below the nose, in Bomber mode they fire from there.

The VB-6 has even a hidden missile launcher in the forearms, I guess to fire missiles without moving the arms in Bomber mode.

In the pinned thread of VB-6's box art someone posted the schermatics of the VB-6.

Thanks for that, those pictures etc, were very helpfull. :D

So then it didn't actually have any landing gear in the first place and the sculpt is almost identical to the lineart in terms of details.

Sorry to keep being a pain but does anyone have any pics of the colours it has appeared in?

    Thanks

edit, nevermind, Grand Cannon must have read my mind

  9. Truthfully, I don't care about the scale issue, or even if its canon.

even if I wasn't a Macross fan, I would buy this toy, for the sheer coolness of it. I mean, its a giant transforming mobile artillery piece! how cool is that!

I am a fan of transforming mecha, and most Gundam models don't do it for me, because of the simplicity of the designs (RX-78? ick) I like a complicated transformation sequence, and although the YF-19 was almost too much, I loved it most.

Too true, I showed these pics in TFW2005.com's Toy forum and had numerous comments along the lines of "that's awesome, I want that" from people who have never heard of it before now. B))

Thanks for the bigger pics CF-18 :D

  10. You know what's crazy: that most of these 7 pages has been devoted to wether the damn thing is canon or not, which we all know it is, yet continue to mention.

Where are the sculpt opinions? Hopes? Criticosms? How many are you going to buy? What price do you think it is? Is there anyone foolish to think whis will be less than $150? What smoldering heap that was once a MG Gundam (or other 1/100 model) will you pose it standing on top of victoriously? Will it be supported safely on one of the acrylic stands in shuttle mode?

I've tried a couple of times to kick off some size, finality etc discussions but the sheer persistence of the cannon debaters wins out.

Just a thought, but of course the VB-6 is cannon, it's got four of the damned things....arf,arf. :p

Someone mentioned way back in the first few pages about where the landing gear doors were. I was wondering that myself, does this thing even have any in teh fiction?

    Fort Max

  11. This kicks ARSE!!!

But hey! Why no Destroid shots, or Gerwalk? (is that what you call it for the VB-6?)

And doesn't this mech have the four large canons?? I don't see them.... Am I just an idiot? :p

The cannons are there, hey are hidden under the two large "rectangular" halves of the shuttle they are the four round things next to each other that you can see in the rear end shots.

    Fort Max

  12. How close would you guys say it is to completion?

To me at least, it looks nearly finished. All of the split lines are clean and sharp and all hinges are present, the parts are actually solid looking and the cannons even look as thought they're hollow.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that looks pretty much like a finished toy and not at all like the usually vauge sometimes not totally defined protos that have been seen in the Tf fandom lately.

I asked earlier about the prospective height and did a little comparitive thinking on it, well if it's 30cm long and the wings are just over two thirds of the length then that should give it a hip height of somewhere around 23cm (9") once all of the wings parts have been "pulled out" to make the legs.

Guaging the height of the body and head from this, I reckon it could be around teh same height as Masterpiece Convoy and with the cannons it may even give Unicron a run for his money. B))

This is simply awesome, I hope it's something they've been working on for ages in secrecy and allready reasonably close to releasing it beacuse I can't wait. :D

    Fort Max

  13. And I thought the Aticulated Starscream was good news. :o

This thing looks awesome, it's so good to find out that it was true. :D

Can anyone help me get an idea of how tall tha battroid mode will be to the head, the tips of the cannons?

Are we talking Masterpiece Convoy sized here?

I can't wait to see more pictures, Yamato can rest assured of getting my money this time.

  14. BTW, key word is that it is "based" on Mr. Phoenix.

    Ha! You're right!

I'm posting this at the fan art section so we can move the discussion from here. The Yamato Konig Monster must be jealous ;)

Nah, that'd be like saying that the Yeti gets jealous when people are discussing Nessie. :p

    Awesome artwork there btw,

  15.  D'oh!  Sorry FM!  In my defense though, looks like SHE's was only a prototype while IHP's kit was produced and available for sale at a Wonderfest event... ;)    :p

Heheh, no problem Melissa, it's cool :D

Any sort of scale worth owning it would have to be HUGE?

No, not at all. To be at the same scale as any of the valk releases, it would have to be huge... but I don't see any reason in the world it should be. The variable monster could be 1/144th and still be a great, affordable, transforming toy.

You folks have to get over this whole scale thing. This is about making good and playable toys, not creating a world at a scale you like. With this kind of anti-logic, we'll never see any SDF-1 or other large scale mecha.

As long as the toy is right size in your hands, what does the rest matter?

Those are my thoughts exactly, all I want is the coolest/biggest/best toys/models of my favourite mecha designs. Scales and maufacturers aren't important to me, it's all about who does the subject matter the most justice. B))

  16. The feet are similar but not the same, I'm still new here but I can't see Graham lying about a pic in a magazine. If he says it's an ugly samurai robot then i'm inclined to belive him. :)

Matt Alt posted a pic from here of the studio halfeye prototype of the transformable monster in question,

    http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/magazi...001yamvf-11.jpg

It does look very cool and I would love this rumour to be true. :D

    Fort Max

 Err....the transformable Koenig monster kit was from IHP/Liquid Stone *not* SHE (studio half eye). And IHP's owner/sculptor Mr. Sakuragawa now works for Yamato. Just wanted to clear that up and give credit where credit is due. SHE has done some great work but they didn't do the Koenig. :)

    Melissa

Ah, I see. My mistake, thanks for the correction Melissa :)
