Nice anime blue on the Yamato. I'm working on my 1/1000 to have lighting effects. But really slowed down because my pin-vice will just not drill through the turrets. Bummer...

I still think it was weird that they released roy as a tamashii exclusive. Like seriously it's probably the best selling vf-1. Look how many times the 1/60 yamato/arcadia has been released since 2008.
Yes, their business decisions are mind boggling: Roy is web exclusive and Brownie is retail.
The only explanation I can think of is that they used Roy to gauge local Japan demand, before a full retail launch later.
But you would think the Brownie would be the exclusive in order to avoid bad sales. If a bunch of Brownies end up as shelf warmers over there, it would be terrible for the line.

Hmm... does this release of the CF Brownie mean an increased chance we get a VF-1D, the M&Ms and all the rest we want? Seems like it to me, since a lot of that stuff might be considered more market friendly.

One M down, one to go.

I agree HM-R may slow down a bit. The lack of global rights keeps Macross down. It will always be a niche until that is cleared up, probably never...

Never saw a helmet collection before. But that's the way to do it. Beautiful!

I don't know... My 171 seems bow-legged in Battroid stance..

Amiami accidentally shipped mine to the wrong country.
Explanation from them? "Oh, crap happens, wait and it will come back to you."
Hrumpfff!

My wishlist is simple. M&Ms and 4 Destroids, and make it snappy.

Nice.

Is there a pro here who can volunteer to paint this and give us a step by step video instruction?

Well, if I'm ever going to learn how to shade a figure, it will have to be for Minmay.

I could never paint it that well. But parts are apparently paint-injected. Any images of what it looks like unpainted?

Is Transformers on-topic here?

Awesome. Please Youtube it for us. Or get the Periscope App for live streaming.

Here's my guess: Drakken transforms into a knights in armor Dragon type.

Holy smokes!

1/48 hasegawa YF-19 and frame arms girl Materia
Finished off the Lancer II today. FYI for anyone building one, the decals are NOT sealed, I didn't know this so the ink literally just melted off the paper. So I had to go with some unused 1:60 VT-1 stickers. Whatever. Turned out pretty good I guess. Onwards!
Nice to see some Macross kits get done. Both look great.
Anything with a U.N. Spacey decal makes my heart go thump.

It's not owned by just one guy.
Must be the Macross Podcast Speaker crew.

Online store sales don't necessarily reflect the popularity of the item in Japan. You're talking about the rest of the freaking world competing over the stock of just a handful of shops, while nearly all the macross fans in Japan have access to loads and loads of brick and mortars in Japan.
When I was in Japan after the Hikaru 1J release they were as scarce as the DX Chogokins.
A few weeks after the Regular release I come again and I find stacks of regults at:
Yodabashi Camera
Softmap
Laox
Volks
Yellow Submarine
Even some tiny figure stores like robot robot and others in the Akiba Radiokan building.
This is just in Tokyo. I find quite a few more in Chiba just 30 min away on the sobu-line. (I was visiting hobby shops like hell to track down older OOP hasegawa limited VF-1's..i even scored a Max / Milia VF-1 twin-set circa 2003 at retail
)Japanese Macross fans just have different collecting habits I guess. They don't have the disposable income nor space to go apesh*t like many of us do here on Macrossworld
That is interesting market feedback.
It means there are slower moving items in the retail side in Japan.
But the way the business works is that Bandai allocates its stock between Japan retailers, Asia retailers, online shops, and major international licensers (like Bluefin and similar outfits around the world). Once the allocation is done, the product is off of Bandai's hands. Any slow sellers are basically the problem of the retail groups. The allocations are not always ideal in the mind of these various retail groups, because they have to buy the good with the bad in most cases.
For a small manufacturer like Evolution, a slow seller can kill their business, but a giant machine like Bandai has more leverage.
That does not mean Bandai can keep churning out slow sellers, it just means they have more time and market power.

I have a suggestion. This thread now covers a GBP release, a Strike Valkyrie, a Regult, and partially another strike valkyrie, a monster, and a Glaug. Could we make separate threads? I know part of the fun is that it's a comprehensive line but trying to track stuff down in this monster thread is a bit of a chore. Maybe we could have a "Hi-Metal R News and Speculation" thread and then individual threads for each toy?
It's a good idea, but I like staying up to date in one thread on HM-R.
Lets say someone only wants info on HMR Monster, they could "Search This Topic" for Monster pretty easily, right?

The Koenig Monster was released 3 times. So I am not worried about the HMR Monster failing.

I'm not an Alto fan, but it is a good figure. Fun to pose and lots of well-fitted parts to display in different forms.

Actually I didn't expect so many responses when I started this post.
Here's hoping we get our VT-1 Renewal v3 (And Vf-1D for you other guys. I just want a 1/60 Minmay, no need for both a VF-1D and a VT-1).

On the bright side, the upside down SMS valk may be worth a fortune one day.
