I don't see that much Sukhoi in it. Mostly F-16/Lavi. Looks quite dated compared to the other 4.5 fighters IMHO. Maybe its partly the colours. The V Stab just looks too bloody huge.

Apparantly, it is due to the incessant tweaking of the 1001 rules for F1 almost every other year. Last season, while Mclaren and Ferrari were dominating, Honda/Brawn decided that they had no hope against the big boys and focused their efforts on improving this season's car. This season supposedly had very different technical rules on the cars so Mclaren and Ferrari had to overhaul almost everything from their last seasons car. I wonder if Honda is kicking their own arse now for pulling out now?

I'd bet money and say that M&M VF-22s are guaranteed given Yamato's track record. Unless Gamera turns up and steps on the molds or something (bet is off then).

I am not so much worried about the price. I am more worried it would join its buddy the prototype Yamato 1/60 Monster in the Yamato cold-storage-store-room. You know, with the recession and all, some exec might just get cold feet.

I still never understood why Mazda never Turbo'd the Renesis. At low revs, even a base model Saab or Merc with their forced induction is significantly faster. Ideally, I'd take it with the 2.3 DISI Turbo though. It'd be a great S15 replacement. Having said that, a Direct Injection Twin Spark Twin Scroll Turbo 26B would be a wet dream.

Ever since reading about the design and philosophy behind the Mclaren F1 back in 91, every supercar that comes up since then has been....meh! Whats the deal nowadays? Just grab some production big capacity V8-10-12 from BMW/Merc/GM whatever and turbo/super the lump before slapping it onto a body with hints of Diablo-Gallardo-F430.

There are two separate points to argue. 1. You can fit 1 million people into the SDF-1 and it'll be only about as cramped than the USS Nimitz (which is about as spacious and comfortable as a current fighting ship gets). 2. You CANNOT fit the damn park where Max fought Miria with knives, the friggin Big Open air areas where Max fought Miria with Mecha, the Damn Shao Pai Long studio, the dang military base where the battroid mode valks were walking round, the gawdamn stadium where Minmay keeps performing, that bloomin atrium area where Hikaru speaks with Minmay before he flies off, the longish roads we see, the bleedin' multi story hospital with airspace to spare where Hikaru was warded, the rather spacious shopping and eating areas, that great big artificial sky and damnit what else I forgot to mention into the SDF-1. There is definitely at least as much anime magic in the Macross City depictions as a transformers show.

Yeah, Death Proof, Kill Bill, Planet Terror etc etc rocks in that they make no pretense. Its a C movie and what it is is what you get.

Watched it. Based on the pre-hype, I was hoping to see Jackie in a baddie role for the first time but it ended up with him still being a good-guy stuck in a crap situation. Not a bad show. I enjoyed it. But am still hoping to see Jackie act as a real baddie. Sammo Hung pulled it off really well in SPL.

OK Ok, none of that geo-political stuff that got the thread closed. I still haven't gotten my answer on the NATO reporting names question. 1. Are NATO reporting names classifed? I thought there were not. (and if so, how come the J-10 hasn't got one yet?) 2. Are NATO reporting names for Soviet-Bloc/Russian Aircraft and their derivatives only? e.g. Non NATO fighters like the Viggen or Kfir did not get a NATO reporting name AFAIK. But Soviet-Bloc derivatives like the 'Fantan' got one.

What Noyhauser said. And for the record, I don't believe that hype about the threat from across the pacific. China's military tech and doctrine is in many ways decades behind the US.

I always thought NATO reporting names are not classified. Thats why I am curious they have not received any yet. Given how some of the Soviet fighters received them before operational status. BTW, what did the JF-17 rip off? Is it based on an upgraded Mig-21 with F-20 design elements powered by a Mig-29 engine?
