Lovin' your Hiki 1A Joke Machine! It looks much cleaner than mine lol. The poor Roy JM is buried in the corner tho.

Thanks. Yeah things get a little cluttered...and all I ever wanted now is a 1A Max JM :)

  2. Got time off from work till early next year (wohoo) & finally have time to unbox my premium finish VE-1. Trying to keep my collection to a select iconic few & all ready for Arcadia PF VT-1 ! (you know its coming!)

  3. Phew, crisis averted. Sorry to hear about the issue many seem to experience with the toy. This is the sole reason why I don't buy first-release of any new/revised-mold from Arcadia/Yamato, bar the YF-19 (because its cool as hell), or wait till I can comfirm they're issue-free before dropping the greens.

On a side note, I did have a bad experience with Yamato's 51 Ivanov...both hips on mine broke due to brittle plastic, hence I'm sitting this one out. Glad I did.

As far as I am aware, they will bill me credit card just prior to shipping to me.

They don't request payment, they charge your listed payment method just before it ships, and if that doesn't go through they email you to fix it.

Thanks for the replies! April should be good to go. Haven't preordered anything in ages, but been waiting for either 1/60 v2 VE/VT/VF-1D.

  5. Selling a used but in great condition Bandai Robot Spirits Patlabor AV-98 Ingram.

Overall figure is in great condition. It comes with a patrol car as seen in the anime.

One caveat is the "speaker" on the patrol car was broken on the base & super-glued (see picture). The robot figure itself is in great condition, joints are all tight. Box & instructions are present.

Selling for $OLD shipped within continental US.

Paypal friends & family, or add 4% if using paypal + creditcard. I'm on the Straight Shooter's list & have been a member of the board since 2007.

    Thanks for looking!

  6. Those who ordered from Amazon.jp, may I know approx when they'll request payment? I ordered two, back when pre-order opened.

I know the figure will be released in April, but just want to know when they'll request payment so I can plan ahead. Thanks!

  7. Because...why not?! Theyre fun to transform (perfect transformation), lots of details &...fun fun fun. At one point I had like 8-9 of them lying arounfd but now I'm only keeping two (1S Roy & 1A Hikaru).

Made a CF/destroid custom myself back then, but sold it on ebay...someone here bought it? I know a few who hoards them like crazy back in the days ... Bobepatt still here? He's a total JM junkie...

  8. Just to put it out there, in case it wasnt clear. To OP, the kit you're building is not perfect transformation.

Note the battroid-mode nose cone has the hip joints while fighter-mode doesnt.

Basically there are two swappable front fuselate sections, one for fighter/gerwalk, another for battroid.

And yeah, Bandai's latest 1/72 VF-1 kit is a mess...but fun to build.

Wish they can revisit them, but given that other recent Bandai toy-valks are overly complicated to transform, I dont they have the know-how to simplify the transformation.

So I received mine today... I must say... I'm not happy with it... In fighter mode, it seems pretty good at least..

Here are my personal thoughts on it:

    1. The nose folds down... and it does so rather easily. It will stay in if you touch it, so it's not floppy, but it's not particularly tight either. It technically tabs in, but there doesn't seem to be any tension from the tab. I feel like this a minor issue, but is an issue (at least for me). See my picture to see what I mean though:Bandai-VF-1J-scaled.thumb.jpg.382b88a96f4c01b65e90c033df8a9a34.jpg

    2. There's a door just behind the cockpit area (you can see it in the picture just above the heat shield)... The door opens up to show some detail, but I'm not really sure what purpose is served by it, I feel like it could break off kinda easily, but fortunately, it seems to stay closed decently, though it doesn't tab in. Fairly minor.

    3. With the default articulate hands, the gunpod is held quite poorly. I struggle to get it in, and it doesn't stay in very well at all. I felt this was a problem on the v2's, but it's much worse here. This is a less minor issue... but I will say that  at least without the gun, the hands themselves are otherwise definitely way better than on the Yamato/Arcadia v2's FWIW.

    4. The fins on the legs don't really lock into any position, so they to end up being moved out of place very easily (see my picture).

    5. And finally the legs... As soon as I started moving from gerwalk to battroid mode, both of the legs popped off... And they're clearly designed to come off. After being very careful, I was able to transform into battroid mode without popping off the legs, and it was easy to get them plugged into the nose correctly (other than the effort to keep the legs attached). So I'm not sure why they went with this design choice. It's pretty clear that this was a deliberate design choice and not a QC issue. The legs have a little plastic door mechanism so you can attach/detach the legs pretty easily... And although there's some decent tension on this door, it's not enough due to the weight of the legs. To me at least, this is a pretty big deal... How long has the v2 been out now? Since 2008? I know I got my first one in 2010... Yamato got this right 8-10 years ago on a 1/60 scale toy. I feel like they probably did this so people could just detach the legs to make the transformation easier, but as I said, it wasn't hard at all for me to get them into position while keeping the legs attached.

What's really disappointing to me is that, other than the issues, this would be a fantastic toy. The limbs otherwise feel REALLY good. The plastic is great. The tampo is awesome. I really like the look of the gunpod (I haven't tried attaching the strap to it).

There's a new arm delivery mechanism that's pretty cool, though I don't know that I think it's ultimately better than the Yamato/Arcadia approach, but it's definitely well designed.

I'm going to think about it for a few days, but I think I may just end up selling it. Different things bug different people, but the detaching leg issue is a going to be a deal  breaker for me. Makes it feel a bit partsformer-esque.

Definitely looking forward to what other people have to say about this toy. There is a lot here that's really good and therefore others may end up loving it.

Thanks for the mini review. As suspected from some video transformations I watched, seems like the legs are deliberately designed to not hold together well & are pretty loose. Personally I will be bothered. Over the years of collecting Macross, I realized playability played a big role in determining whether I keep the toys or sell them. The ones that survived my now small collection are the v2 VF-1's, v2 YF-19 & Yamato's SDF-1. Well, I wouldnt say SDF is playable, but honestly I haven't transformed that big guy because I prefer ship mode.

Will read more reviews like yours and decide if I'll jump on Bandai's next VF-1 releases. Thanks!

  10. Great to see another iteration of the VF-1. But from comparison pictures so far, IMHO I do still think the yammy/archie are still the best, aesthetic/proportion/playability wise. Bandai looks just a little bit bulky and disproportionate compared to the yammy/archie.

Maybe down the line I'll get one of them Bandai badboys for the sake of it, just like most other Bandai valks that I got, but eventually sold due to their lack of playability. Oh well.

I'd totally jump in if they release the 1D/VE/VT. But I guess now they'll just ramp up production on the VF-1 mold. Well I can wait.

  12. True. I don't see any wrong doing by the seller. If you minus all the fees (I usually multiply what I sell on ebay by 87% for an estimate), total he'd get is $217-ish. Factor in shipping, he'd end up with $200 top, which I believe the price he bought from spanner.

From the item descriptions, seems like the seller doesn't like/know that the paints on custom painted models can easily chip/deteriorate from transformations. Maybe seller was expecting "factory" quality paints (?).
