  1. There were some bright spots, to be sure. The Shane O'Mac/Eric Bischoff match was entertainnig, even if Coach's heel turn was lame. Angle/Lesner was pretty good, but not as good as both are capable of....well, at least Angle is capable of better. Uhh...I think that was about it, though. I'm glad we saw it for free.
  2. HHH needs to die, and not in a quick and painless way. He needs to die slowly and horribly so that he feels the pain that he's caused the fans over the years. Die, HHH! DIE DIE DIE! That last match was sooooo predictable! Was there any doubt that Goldberg would spear and jackhammer his way through his opponents? Was there any doubt that HHH would come out of the pen last (even though he was technically 2nd last)? My god, he did all of 5 minutes work in that match, and most of it was after the bell had rung. <_<
  3. I say "on it's own." I like the GBP armor as much as the next guy, but I figure the armor will cost 1 1/2 times that of the FAST packs. I may blow large wads of cash on toys, but the price of that combo would be a little too much to swallow all at one time. Gimme a plain jane VF-1J and I'll put the GBP on layaway.
  4. You know....since Aliens, the alien costume has looked worse and worse with every movie. I can only imagine how awful the costumes will look in AvP. However, I had read that the custumes were being produced by some former Stan Winston employees, so maybe there's hope after all.
  5. You know....I'm thinking that a 1/48 YF-19 might just be a little too much Valkyrie. I like big scale models and toys, but that might just be pushing it.
  6. To Blaine you listen, Abombz! After watching the Holiday Special you'll forever feel dirty, but it's not the kind of dirt that washes off with astringent soap, or even laquer thinner. No, it's the kind of dirt that makes you dirty on the inside, and that never washes off.
  7. I'll give you this link: http://www.starwarz.com/tbone/features/hol...day_special.htm ...in the hopes that it deters you from pursuing this abomination.
  8. I'd definitely recommed against doing that. Paying any sum of money for that abomination will only leave you feeling depressed and confused...and perhaps a little sleepy. Even downloading it isn't worth the bandwidth. And that's before you actually watch it. Believe me, I once thought as you do. I figured I'd see how bad it was "just for kicks" and borrowed a copy. Saying that I forced myself to watch it does nothing to convey just how difficult it is watching this...thing. It can only be safely viewed in short, 5 minute long segments, and even then it should be viewed through a box with a hole in it, as if you were watching an eclipse. The sound on your TV should remain off, or else the endless segments consisting of nothing but wookiee yowling will drive you to gouge out your eardrums with a rusty fork. Even if you survive that and think you're in the clear, golden girl Bea Arthur sings.
  9. Episode I was Citizen Kane when compared to the horror of the Holiday Special. I'm just fortunate I saw it at an age when I was mentally strong enough to cope with the madness. If I'd seen it in 1978 I'd likely have eaten all the crayons in the house before hanging myself from the swingset.
  10. Heh...I'd watch a 24 hour Droids marathon AND every episode of the Ewoks cartoon before I'd sit down and watch the Holiday Special again.
  11. What, the same black hole that currently contains the infamous Holiday Special?
  12. I was expecting to hear another "Cat attacks toys" thread, but this is just as bad. Wasn't somebody planning on doing a recast of the heatshield?

    Meeting with yamato

I'm guessing that there's enough fans of the DYRL scemes in Japan to warrant their continual use. Yamato isn't alone in this. The Banprestos and Hasegawas are also extremely DYRL-centric. It seems to be the "preferred" version of the VF-1.
  14. Yes, but remember you're comparing modern big budget CG animation to 20 year old Animefriend garbage.
  15. Some people would have liked to see a 1/48 VF-1J with FAST packs, "canon" or not. As I recall, reviews of the 1/60 version were quite positive.
  16. Didn't you ever play Char's Counter Attack for the PS1, Yoshi?
  17. Ah yes, that chubby sack of midichlorians from Quebec, Ghyslain. My favorite remix was the "attack of the dorks" version.
  18. Other than looking "neater" there has been nothing in the first two episodes of Zero to infer that the VF-0 is in any way superior to the VF-1. In fact, didn't Nora mention that the VF-0 was a poor ripoff of the SV-51? I still believe that by the last episode of Zero we'll see a new production VF-1 kick some ass, effectively putting the VF-0 out to pasture.
  19. Your picy no worky, MMX. Whats whith game sites not liking liked pictures anyhow? Anyway, that game looks pretty cool. Definitely a step up from the old Zeta game for PS1.
  20. Well, we can't all be "discerning toy snobs," can we? It's a good thing you're here to tell us unwashed masses what's what. It's too late at night to dig up all the threads from the old forums where we criticised Yamato, but I can guaran-damn-tee you that nobody was satisfied with broken VF-11 hips. Just what is your beef with the new 1J anyhow? The toy hasn't even been released yet and you're already starting with the "Worst Toy Ever" routine. Are you going on vacation, and decided to get some preemptive complaining in? Ever consider that you're taking this stuff a little too seriously? These are mass produced toys made in China, not the freakin' Franklin Mint.
  21. Looks good to me but....we've been burnt on Macross games before, haven't we?
  22. So that's what happened to my beer last weekend! You know what...the bastards must have hit me on the head while I was sleeping too, becasue when I woke up I had a killer headache.

    Meeting with yamato

Come on, man! Didn't we go through this with the 1/60's? To summarize: VJ-1J Hikaru - with (non canon) FAST Packs VF-1J Max - with FAST Packs VF-1J Milia - with FAST Packs VF-1D VF-1A CF - technically a crossover product, but who's complaining? All that's missing is the Max & Kakizaki VF-1A's...unless you're holding out for a YF-1R. We've got a 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J confirmed, plus neat new stuff like the Low Viz. I'd say these are pretty good times for Macorss collectors. Does anybody really doubt that a M&M duo is on the horizon? You just have to be more patient.
  24. Let me get this straight.... Fans bitch and moan about "too much DYRL" Yamato produces a TV VF-1J Fans scream "OMG, are those FAST packs? That's not canon!" And that was just in the 1/60 days...Fast forward a year or so: Fans bitch and moan about "too much 1/48 DYRL" Yamato produces a TV VF-1J, with TV correct Fast packs just for show. Fans scream "OMG, are those FAST packs? That's not canon!" Graham's already explained that there's plenty of new stuff a'comming. In the meantime, they release variants that fans have asked for and it's still not good enough? Some folks should just stick to Bandai.
  25. Touche' Still, if they're ripping the R1 dubs now, it might be a cheaper way to pick up titles that I'd otherwise pass on. Like the R1 Yukikaze!
