Even though your not done yet, you've done a sweet job, AlphaHX!

Hey, did you use the "squashed" head to build up your new one?

The reason I ask is maybe you could still use the old one by mod'ing it to look like the crushed head in the show. It's an idea that just popped in my head.

-
Yeah, I saw proto pics of it and it looks like the shoulder missiles are molded in transparent purple, possibily to light up.
Meh.As soon as I get him I'll be painting those two parts in the proper goldish color.
Or....I could take a mold of one, and fix it up with three missile instead of the two, hmmm...
In either case this is old news, since the middle of January. Checkout TFormers.com for pics.

Hey Captian, is it too late to put me down for one?

This sound too cool to pass up!

Thanks!

Agreed. I think that the macross plus vfs are the best-looking overall. I guess I'll try and get myself a 1/48. The shipping is going to be an irritance, to be sure. It's looking like it will be around 60 Canadian, which is just under half the price of the item. Anyone have a better place to shop than ebay? I've seen a few recommendations floating around here but the prices seemed about the same.
What I found, me being Canadian too(eh?), was by going through those recommendations you could get better shipping charges, but not always.
Simply put; If you have the cash, do it. If you don't, then play the waiting game and see what pops up, though you could miss out in the end. In either case it's exactly like playing the stock market - you just got to get the feel for it. Then you know how you're chances are. But sooner or later your gonna get burned, so expect it(not that it helps).

That "yamato" garland, isn't Yamato at all...which BLOWS! In the WF report, you can see that the proportions are way different, there's that ugly gap in the chest, and overall, it's not as nice. If that Atelier Sai Garland WAS the yamato garland, that'd kick ass...but it isn't.
I'm sad now...
Thanks for the heads up. I'd been disappointed and peeved if I got it, and compared it to the proto pics.

Meh.

Just read what it say's about the product;
Product Overview: This item is a fixed-pose model of a science-fiction/anime item. It does not require either cement or paint to complete or use.
Nuff said.

D-A-M-N-! M-A-N-!

I just wished I decided to check this thread sooner
! But I do agree with the others.
Your second one is better! With the first one, I thought that you couldn't improve on perfection for the second, that it be as great as the first. Then, WHAM! You did!

Awesome work!
Mylene?
Miriya?
The bridge bunnies?
Who's next?!

My Monster has gone limp!

Viagra?
Graham

Geez, you just couldn't resist, could you, Graham?

Sweet!

Thanks AlphaHX, we can always count on those who's Macross pic database is large and varied.

Man! That particular cameo paint scheme on a white Valk is hot!

Too cool. Thanks Guys!

-
Sweet! PM'ed you.

And that's the first time that I saw a line art pic of it.Thanks for the pic!

BTW, do you have other pics of it?

Do a search here. Its everywhere.

I did, but there was one pic that I couldn't find. Someone mentioned a magazine pic of one, but I could not find it.
There was also mentions of pics on the old board, which is down now(I checked). So it's possible that it may be only found there.
Anyhow, so I was wondering if anybody got that mag pic?

Thanks!

CFs can take a hit and not immediately disintigrate?
Another long held belief shattered by Kurt!

-
I just wish that you'd sell one of the downgradeable BClub kits separately, I'd snatch that up real quick.

-
OoO...Very interesting.
Is this a new idea, or was it remotely cannon?

In either case, this is the first that I have heard of such an armor, and I'm looking forward to it's progress.

-
My discs 1, 3, and 9 are showing cracks at the center and I had the Three Disc sets. And I've watched them once.

Yes, I guess I should point out that my cracked disc 9 is from my 3 box sets, and I only watched them once too.

Dude, I want the Moto-slave as much as you do, but I need some figs for it too.

In either case it's still too early to tell about both figs, in regards to quality and true size. But I'll be keeping a close eye in how they both devolop.

-

Man! I wish someone would reproduce those BGC figs, or made new sculpts.

As for the Garland, it's looking pretty sweet!

-
I think that pilot should be fired for incompetence.

Heh! We're talking about a CF here! This may be the only CF to have ever taken a scratch and not immediately exploded right there on the spot.
CF = Star Trek red shirt.
H
Actually, he may just be one of the best CF pilots out there. By the patch work and current damage, he'd already survived at least two battles, which is more than I can say about the other *cough* dead *cough* CF pilots.

Damn, Man! If I'd have the money right now, I'd slap $350 in front of you for that piece of art. Hell, if your gonna sell it, starting price shouldn't be any lower than $200 maybe $250 easy. To ask anything else would be an insult, unless your very generous.
Next to the Low Vis, this is easly as valuable with all that beautiful and custom craftmanship.

I just checked the scene, Hikaru takes off at the same time as he says the line. There's no pause.
Actually there's more, Hikaru does hear Roy final words before he blows up, and Hikaru does see the explossion. So what you have can work.

-
Hmmmm, well, that sounds like those words ("If you say so!") convey something in Japanese that they do not convey in english. Or, to use the old phrase: "Something is lost in translation."
Because, I really don't see an english-speaking person using that line to convey that meaning at all. So, really, I think the change in line is justified.
I'm glad I'm forgiven though!

Hmmm....That's a really good point. And your right, I can't see a person using that line at all. I see what you mean now.
Alright, I'll leave it to "lost in translation". And now, I understand the change. In trying to adapt it to our culture and with the use of our common English/Western phrases, it gives me greater appreciation for the time and work you've put into this project.
But the line you used; "What about you?!?", to me doesn't fit the scene. Roy tells Hikaru to save Minmay, that Hikaru responds and takes off instantly, not waiting for a respose. So, to me, it would seem pointless to even say that, because when someone says that line, that person always stays and waits for the final response, then takes off. What is needed is a Western expression where it would fit the scene. It seems that Hikaru has to make a final statement rather then a question.
But I've been racking my brain for something short and appropiate. But since I can't, I now see how this may have given you a hard time, and why you fudge it to what it is now.

Double post, deleted.

I did change a line here and there. But I very rarely just outright changed a line without some basis in the original language (as determined by the resources above. . . I don't speak a word of Japanese). With one exception, and I hope I will be forgiven for it:
I cannot stand the line where Roy is about to be killed and he tells Hikaru to "Go and save Minmay". . . and Hikaru responds with: "If you say so!"
Now, maybe it's a cultural linguistic idiom, but I can't imagine Hikaru saying anything like that when his Sempai is about to be slaughtered. I looked at all the resources above, but couldn't find a more satisfying alternative. So, I simply fudged the line to: "What about you?!?"
If y'all have a problem with that. . . tough.
But seriously, I can always provide an alternative stream with the line restored to the (in my opinion) nonsensical line. I'd also be open to someone coming up with a more appropriate line that is more in-line with the actual Japanese.Other than that drastic change where I simply fudged something, to the best of my recollection, I only subtley altered lines to make them sound more natural in english. My philosophy in translating is that it's okay to add a word or two here and there to make it sound more natural in the new language. Even if those words aren't technically there in the original.
Oh, and my girlfriend actually liked the movie this time around. She said it finally made sense.

H
Hey Hurin, in regards about your "fudged" line;
He's how I understand it; when Hikaru responds "If you say so!", what he's stating is his disapproval or dissatisfaction of his Sempai telling/ordering him to leave him to die and save Minmay. You see, Hikaru is helping Roy saving face, as it were, by both of them not speaking or admiting Roy's fate, that he's gonna to die.
In other words, Hikaru was being polite, in responding to Roy as if he gave a command. And it also showed his disapproval of leaving Roy to his unspoken fate.
I hope that this explanation helps.
And I also want to express my thanks to you and for your excelent work!

Oh, BTW, you're forgiven.

This is the first time that I heard of this happening.

As Graham said, this is very worrying.

I did a check on my set and only disc 9 has some cracking. This does not bode well.

Looks like I'm gonna have to make back up copies myself too.

Hmm....I think I'll check my other DVD's aswell.

Time is now of the essence...

Yes, definitely go for the Fast Packs. Since it seems unlikely that there's goona be a re-release, and there's no word form Yamato so far, these are selling out like hot cakes!
I grabbed a set from TisInc about a week and a half ago for $65.
I wanted to get 2 but didn't have the funds for it.
Meh, at least I got one.
Still waiting for it to show up, though.
Also look at it this way. Since it seems likely that Yamato will be releasing the GBP with and without the 1J, it's possible that people won't be inclined to buy the TV Super 1J.
Well, that's my opinion. Not that I or any of us really know what people are thinking or what's over the horizon.
