  1. That is good, I perfer OVA rather than TV series.

Keep it short and sweet. :)

50 minutes each also means that it won't be too short as a movie would have been. This setup gives it as much time as a trilogy, which is what I had been saying from the start would have been enough space to tell this story sufficiently. I still hope someone translates the novels though. I'd really like to read them.

  2. I mean, he could be announcing 2 MGS games at E3, but I doubt it. Oh well.

Here's the thing though; there is no way they are going to be able to get those kinds of graphics out of the PSP, and if they aren't going to be using HD, HQ models like that then they have no reason to exist; Shinkawa would have just done illustrations, or they would have used PSP level graphics.

Plus, I'm pretty sure it was already revealed that Kojima was announcing a PSP/PS3 game(s). I'm of the idea that there will be two games, that may even tie into each other directly.

  3. Well, 5 is a prime number, the previous prime number is 3....

.... 3 is the first number of 360

    5+1 = 6

... 6 is the second number in 360

When the timer ends it will be zero

... OMGWTF BBQ, WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE!!1!! MGS4 for TEH XBOX360!1!!!

    I am retarded. desu.

    THESE SOUND LIKE FACTS

  4. some high res pics of some of the bots and cons

If you guys look closely, you can see that these new designs have a lot more surface area that isn't just mechanical clutter. They actually have planar surfaces now, that, from where I'm looking, help define their overall shapes better. Even the bots from the first film have been slightly redesigned- they are sleeker, and once again, more solid surface area. Ironhide and Ratchet most notably.

  5. Gundam has always been a human drama. They have never included aliens and I doubt the movie will either.

While this is true, you also have to consider the amount that aliens have been mentioned in the show during the last few episodes. Consider also, that one of the themes that S2 has been hitting you in the face with is to "fight for the future, leave the past behind you." This is not just for the characters you see, but for the entire Gundam franchise. It's the director taking a stab at Sunrise for constantly doing the same thing over and over with the Gundam name. He hints at this same idea during the course of the first season as well into the second; where the familiar Gundam tropes are turned on their heads, trying to show how silly they are in realistic setting. The concept of innovators is obviously pulled from Newtypes, but with the Gn particles they manage to actually understand each other as opposed to their UC bound peers, who are used over and over again in for the continuation of conflict. That is how Tomino wanted them to be in the first place (see his novels for this), but they were perverted into the war machines we know in the name of action figure sales. More evidence for my main point is the rather blatant final battle between Setsuna and Ribbons- a battle between the old and the new. Amuro (same VA as Ribbons) in the Gundam vs Setsuna in Exia. And we all saw who won that fight. Mizushima is saying that living in the past brings nothing, and that the future should be embraced, and while this is a good philosophy in general, he also means it specifically for the Gundam franchise. So I would have to say that I think that aliens will be in the 00 movie, and that in this particular timeline they could be pulled off very well.

  6. "pretencious"

I don't think that word means what you think it means. <_<

I did thoroughly enjoy this film, though. An impeccable adaptation, and a solid piece of cinema to boot. The extended cut will hopefully make the initial exposition a little less dragging, though. With the notable exception of Adrian (for good reason), all the characters were nearly identical to their illustrated counter-parts.

Also, it was excessively gorgeous. :)

  7. Screw that... I want any MG Guntank to be a quality model, not an RC toy kit...

I dunno. I'm not a big Guntank fan to say the least, but it didn't look bad at all. Plus Bandai has a habit of making the mechanical/electrical components of their models actually look like scale components of the unit in question, so I'm sure it won't be too bad internally. They're just trying to find a way of making such a seemingly simple kit look more impressive, so they can gouge us on it.

Also, independently actual moving cannons is very cool.

  8. This doesn't beat the Sith attack on the Church of Jedi in the UK... have to dig up the link, but it happened...

    Pete

It totally does, you can google that incident up, and the whole thing was actually recorded. It's crazy lame. Kind of funny though.

It's just a drunk dude wearing a trashbag wielding a crutch who hit one guy in the head, and he was barely even hurt.

Robbing a 7 11 with a batleth is way further out there.

  9. Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance preview screen caps

S2 Engine Powered(?) EVA-04 w/ shield and Lance of Longinus vs 6th Angel Ramiel(again?)

I wonder what's going on and why Ramiel's back again. Perhaps the time loop theory proposed by some fans might be true. Instead of EVA-01 and EVA-00 battling Ramiel, NERV dispatches the S2 equipped EVA-04 (note the absence of umbilical cable) to fight this time.

Supposedly, these are just caps from some new pachinko machine. No need to start more speculation until more information is released.

  10. Finally saw this, the only real justification form my perspetive for them remaking this portion of the series is the scene where Misato showed Shinji Lililth, there was lots of new scenes but that's the only one that seemed really important.

Or the 5th child? Rei, Shinji, Asuka, Toji then Kaworu.

Ooh, didn't think of that. Moon children.

  11. No one's gonna catch this anime reference but i'll bite:

Evangelion and all its "universes" are a vicious circle and part of the Human Instrumentality Project that can only be broken once a universe ends with Shinji not hating himself and the world doesn't end. Otherwise it just resets and becomes slightly f***ed up or strange. Sometimes happy too ala Angelic Days/Girlfriend Of Steel.

That's how I'm seeing it play out, frankly. And from the few viewings I've had on 1.0, I'd say that Shinji has a little more spine than usual. Perhaps when the final reel of the final film runs out, it really will be the End of Evangelion.

Ah, closure... one can hope, right?

Oh, one more thing I've noticed, Kaworu is coming out of a box on the moon at the end of 1.0. It's the fifth box, so either he's the fifth angel (his human given number for the films hasn't been revealed yet), or the fifth Kaworu; more evidence (obviously circumstantial) that this sort of thing has happened before, and has the possibility to happen again, judging by the other unopened boxes following his. Occam's razor says he's just the fifth angel though.

  12. I'm actually pretty positive that the new films are in fact sequels in some sense; not a cut and dry retelling. Theres some interesting things that the production team has done to hint at this. For one, while this could be related to the re-evaluation of the mythos, the number of the Angels is wrong- which lends to an ambiguous relationship between Shinji's child number and the missing angel number. As well as having Lillith revealed so early on. This last piece though, I feel, is directly pointing at a continuation of the original somehow. THERE IS STILL A HUGE RED BLOOD SPLATTER ON THE MOON, AND THE OCEAN IS RED EVERYWHERE. Now, those first two may just be in place to add something new for all the old players, or to streamline the story telling for the later films; but I have a strong feeling that starting with this movie, things are going to start becoming very, VERY different. So different, that you could be hard-pressed to call it a retelling.

  13. I just got this a few days ago, working through it right now...

Chainguns are awesome now in that they actually feed off a drum (as opposed to being clip based in the previous ACs).

Heat is GONE! Then again, that also means you can't overheat enemy NEXTs (ACs)...

Game pace is MUCH faster now, to the point where missile dodging with a light fast NEXT has a very Mac Plus feel to it. In fact, with a machine gun, forget about dodging, you can shoot them down! The downside is that EVERYTHING is fast. Forget about blading enemy NEXTs, and my favourite tactic in the AC3 days (tank legs and dual grenade launchers) no longer work since it seems as if everybody and their mom can boost and evade like crazy. Don't even get me on the first serious NEXT fight... $#I($# White Glint...

I'd say controls are much better and not clunky at all, compared to previous ACs. I went with the B control scheme and inverted the Y-axis and felt right at home.

Overall, I'd say it's worth the purchase if only for a completely refreshing look at the AC series.

Most of the things you mentioned were already changed in 4. However, 4A has increased the speed on everything- even Tanks have the ability to dodge heavy weapons if you tune correctly. Also, if you think blading is hard now, you should have seen the previous regulations. The fact that you can push your AC to over 3000km/h during a slicing dash really says it all, I think. I do love how fast paced everything is now, though. My current set up has infinite ground OB, and can do normal flight indefinitely. Hopefully as I unlock more FRS I can make it more energy efficient, and have unlimited quick boosting. Cause right now, she may do Mach 1 during a side boost, but a heated battle can leave me with no EN. Oh well, at least it fills back up really fast. Also, just unlocked the White Glint parts; can you say Wings of Light?

  14. You would think they would have stuff like this sorted out BEFORE they started filming...

Thing is, Fox didn't even make a claim until February, so they'd already begun filming by then (likely had a lot done already). Not only that, but trying to kill its release instead of wanting money? They're just being dicks so that Warner will give them as much cash as they can. Huge dicks.

  15. Starfighters could be useful in a patrol/recon role but any hard sci-fi recognizes the big carrier/cruiser would actually be both faster, more maneuverable, and (obviously) have much heavier armor and many weapon systems the size of the whole fighter.

While larger ships could be faster, due to their ability to hold more fuel; in space speed means nothing. The name of the game in a vacuum is acceleration, and a smaller, less massive ship is going to be able to accelerate much easier than a larger one. So, if you're looking at it from that perspective I don't really see how a larger ship is supposed to be more maneuverable. Also, since space is a completely 3D battlefield, large ships have large cross-sections, from at least one plane. This makes them easy to shoot. Given the ability to easily give objects lethal velocities in space, this also makes them easy to break. A big, slow, easy to shoot ship is a not a good place to be in the void. Small ships are good because they are hard to hit, and really hard to see. Their only real downfall is how easy they would be to blow up. But a solid hit in space could likely down a large ship just as easily, so that's really a moot point.

Fighters will have a place in space warfare because they're cost effective, simple as that.

  16. It's the movie theaters that are the problem though. They *don't* want intermissions. After you've dropped your dough at the concessions counter they want you out of the theater as soon as possible so another set of people can come in and do the same thing.

That this is clocking in with a long run time is a good sign. If anything, we should get an extended dvd if the studio does cut it down(and most likely sink it).

The 3 hour run time is just what Snyder feels he can get for the theatrical (even though it seems like he'll have to fight for it), the real cut is supposed to be closer to 4 hours, and will be on the DVD release with the Black Freighter.
