It's a custom on the Gakken toy by some Japanese collector. There are links to his website over on ToyboxDX in the Vintage Chogokin BBS.

save youself some problems and get yamato's.
don't let that "master piece collection" phrase suck you in, its a total crock of shiet.
the MPC is ONLY a good buy if you get them for $40 or less(if even that) otherwise you're gonna have to dump it back on ebay, then it'll have cost you money just for looking at it and being disappointed.
i bought one once, i got my money back, but i still regret the day i bought it. i remember i went to my friends house and opened it, i was all excited as was he but after i took the sucker out, we both sat there like
WTF is this crap? i didn't even bother transforming it, i just stuck it back in the box cause looking at it pissed me off. by far the worst toy purchase i've made to date. While all this is true, amazingly the #3 MPC Skull Leader valks proved to be the best investment vehicle of all the modern valkyrie releases according to ebay. They sell for more than a 1/48 Yamato Low Viz or Yamato YF-19 1st issue and cost less than either at retail. Go figure.

here's a pic of the taiwan super...
There is a second version I have of the Taiwan Super where the valk is grey instead of white. Everything else is the same.

OK... I'm trying to complete at least one collection. What I need you wonderful people to help me with is compiling a difinitve list of all the 1/55 valks ever made so I know when I have them all. Yeah... I have a problem
anyways... I know some
taka... max, milla, vf-j, gbp, gbp giftset,?
bandai hi metal... 1a, vt-1, ve-1, super,?
bandai reisse... max, milla, 1a, 1s, 1s super, 1j, cannon fodder
joon's... patriot, max, milla, space gandam, green,?
"robotec" fighter [korean]?
Taiwanese... super, strike [packaged valk only]
matsushiro... brit valk, jetfire painted wing, and stickered wing?
galaxy defender
elcheapo carded abs crap
french release
I want to know more about the french one. I have never actually seen one but I know they exist as I have wings for one in my bits box.
Anyhow... If you know of any I forgot, not counting the mpc's, please let me know.
yep... collecing bootlegs... like they will go up in value.

ALso... anybody made custom removable armor for the hcm vf"s yet? I know kid did JM ones and 1/100.
The 'Robotec' bootlegs were made by a company called Popeye, oddly enough, and had really nice boxes. They made the Hikaru 1J and also the green 1J
I have made several custom armors for my HCM valks, all you need is a Hasegawa 1/72 super, strike, ostrich, or elintseeker kit.

they have those at frank and sons. There was a set of three for $40, Dunno if their still there. I know D bought a set.
I'd say those were the US toys by Joyride Studios, not the Japanese ones. Joyride's set of three is teh colonial viper, cylon raider, and cylon centurion. The ships are about the size of a star wars action fleet.

He's done a mix & match, no Takatoku came that way. The canopy is from another Takatoku issue and the heatshield is from the 1990 Bandai Super issue, or a recast. So really it's missing the original skull black canopy.

Did he do full painted work or lineart or cel art or what? Can you post examples? I have a robotech mospeada poster that may have been him I guess.

This jackass thinks yellowing is a rare color variant from the manufacturer. And some stupid bastard will probably believe it.

As a part-time Gundam fan, I appreciate both. MSiA allows me to build up units relatively cheaply (and nets me some weird designs too), and I have no hesitation customizing MSiA (looks fondly at my MSiA Alex).
Hey, post pics of your Alex custom. It's my favorite MSIA and I have a small army of them, one of which I customed up.

You should cast it in Soft vinyl rather than resin so that it can be kitbashed into a full action figure. Now that would be something.

Very nice. I'm surprised that the Testors paint worked on the PVC material without either staying permanently tacky or melting it. Did it dry completely?

that Skyline is a GTR.
They don't make a GTR R35.
the Infiniti coupe is a Nissan Skyline R35 in Japan.
but the only GTR car around is still that older R34.
personally, I can understand why Nissan updated their Skyline with the new styling.. orgami lines, LED taillights, all the features new cars are featuring.
but I don't think the car has the same balls as the old Skyline.
that and I don't think they made them AWD in Japan or the US like the R34's, that sux.
R35 is a lot smaller than the R34 too. it just doesn't look as mean to me anymore..

I see the GTR distinction now. Actaully they do make an all-wheel drive version of the G35 branded the G35x. I also saw an article in Road and Track about nissan's next supercar to replace the GTR which looked exactly like the G35 with a big ass spoiler added - which I thought was goofy.

(From Car and Driver magazine):The Mother of all GT-Rs
Check out the limited edition Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-tune set to debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 14.
BY PETER LYON
January 2005
If you thought the mighty Nissan R-34 GT-R was dead and buried, think again. Nissan’s racing arm Nismo has resurrected the phased-out Skyline for one last blast. Only this time, they’re not stopping at half measures.
Unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon this week, the 500hp GT-R Z-tune is not only the most powerful GT-R ever, but at $170,000, it’s also the most expensive. Why did they make it? Simple. To show what's possible. And when we hinted at any relation to the next generation GT-R due in 2007, Nismo staffers started sucking through their teeth and looking skywards. One thing is for sure. The 2007 GT-R's sticker price will be around half that of the Z-tune but pump out nearly as much power. Leaning heavily on 15 years of racing experience with the R-32, R-33 and R-34 GT-R’s, Nismo engineers have created the mother of all GT-R’s.
Looking like a GT-R on steroids, the Z-tune has been fitted with CFRP lightweight aeroparts including the front bumper, hood, front fenders Nismo increased the stock twin turbo 2.6 liter bore to 2.8 liters by employing the block from a 2001 GT500-spec GT-R race car, and then further refined and reinforced just about every component inside. It gets race-spec forged pistons, conrods and camshaft, a large titanium exhaust and two oil coolers as well as the heavy duty IHI turbos fitted to the class-winning GT-R in last year’s Nurburging 24-hour race. And with an upgraded ECU, that gives the Z-tune a respectable 500hp and 540Nm of torque with a strong focus on low end response. To handle those extra herbs, Nismo employed a special heat-resistant Super Coppermix Twin clutch that was developed to cope with power up to 600hp. Incorporating a fully reinforced chassis, this GT-R also gets SACHS 3-way adjustable dampers, once again from the GT500 car, and huge mono-block 6-piston Brembo calipers with 365mm race rotors. Now depending on where you wish to drive your Z-tune, you can either have it delivered wearing stock Potenza high performance road tires or semi slicks, which are both shod on 18-inch LM GT4 GT500 rims made by Rays. Inside a specially fitted 320km/h speedo and titanium gear knob hint at what the Z-tune is capable of on the track.
When you consider that Nismo are only making twenty Z-tunes, yep 20 only, you’d better get that cheque book out quick smart. Because they’re already taking orders. A Nismo staffer told us that one Brit and one American had already signed on the dotted line. Add freight from Japan and insurance, and you won't get much change from $200,000.

I thought the Skyline was now the same car as the Infinity G35 sold here.

These monsters were selling for under 10,000 yen at Superfest according to Matt Alt over on ToyboxDX. That's like half price. If I had already paid full retail for one I'd feel raped right now. These may be available at heavy discount soon if that is any indication.

Thanks, Zeo-mare, that site is great!

I would like some made for my Metal Material Strike Gundam.

No way the real Tony Twist lost $15 million in personal income because they used his name in the comic. It's McFarlane's own fault, though, for being an arrogant ass and not paying the guy some reasonable amount in a settlement.
Plus now that it's clear that all those homerun record items he bought were from players jacked up on steroids, it will probably drive down any value they would historicly achieve.

Updated original pic with tailfins and decals on.

That looks cool!
Is their a reason you didn't paint the main part of the plane white?
Yeah, it would probably look better white but I have a bad time trying to get white paint to come out well, especially on such a large amount of the plane. Also, it's still transformable and the white areas would just get chipped up badly. All the areas I made black are 'transform-friendly'. Plus the original Takatoku skull was grey too!

A local TRU near me had a gob of these guys on the clearance racks last time I was there. I only remember seeing Nina Purpleton and Whats-his-name in the blue jumper but there might have been more. They were all on clearance for like a buck each. If anyone is interested I can go by there tomorrow night on my way to the gym and see if they still have any.
Please do, I need an Amuro Rey and Char Aznable if they have them!
