I don't know about the soundtrack and that makes me somewhat anxious.

The old ADV Robotech Legacy DVD box sets have a single Dolby Digital 2.0 track using original effects. The new Blu-rays have two Dolby TrueHD tracks per Funimation's site, one 2.0 and the other 5.1. I would think that any 5.1 track will have the new effects. What I'm curious about is the 2.0 track. I'm hoping it uses the original effects like the old Dolby Digital 2.0 track from the ADV DVDs but I can't find anything that confirms this. Sadly, there is no mono track.

I'm in the camp that thinks the faded edge artwork looks better on newer shows trying to pass as retro, like Stranger Things. The same look on actual shows from the 1970s or 1980s seems redundant. I would have rather seen some classic artwork on the box and/or slip cover, similar to the art that Funimation is using on the Blu-ray discs themselves.

Yes I do hope that these sets have the option for the 1985 experience. I do not like the Remix audio or video additions at all on Robotech.

Also I hope this means we are getting a new MOSPEADA Blu Ray set!!

  2. Still waiting on a great Alpha/Legioss TOY. Something that looks pretty good (maybe better than the GAKKEN) but more importantly is not so fragile it breaks upon its first 5 transformations. The CM had the durability but looked way off.

  3. Yes I'm comparing the prototype with my CM's and there are a lot of similarities. Aesthetics aside the CM's is very well built, but it lacks tabs to keep it locked in fighter mode.

But yes it has CM's written all over it which is a good thing in my book.

I had both the CM's and the Toynami versions. The CM's was built really well but it was a floppy mess and the proportions were goofy. The Toynami looked a lot better but was a joke in the QC/Build Quality department.

I am hoping this one can give us the best of both.

  4. The pieces are all there.

You take the good stuff from the IMAI/Toynami one. (sculpt was pretty good. Legs stayed in fighter mode)

The better build of the CM/Gakken ones (better joints/quality)

Fine tune the proportions (maybe mimic the Moscato a bit...)

    Presto.

WHO knows what this thing will look like.

  5. Watched most of this the other night. Overall a huge improvement from the old DVD I had. I do wish it was sharper in some parts but I do think it is a mix of TWO things.

1.) Looks out of focus on the cell/maybe when it was originally shot/processed?

2.) There is some DNR applied and it seems like sparingly on select scenes as it is not the whole film. THIS IS NOWHERE NEAR THE LEVEL OF THE PREDATOR Ultimate Hunter BD mess.

5.1 DTS-MA mix is very nice though and much appreciated!
