  1. still waiting on confirmation of FB2012 Hikaru scheme before committing
  2. Nanoplasm is a champion. Received a FREE copy of Echo from him in the mail today. Outstanding man. If you're ever down under I'm buying. I haven't been able to justify things like Mari album purchases for a while now being in and out of work but you really came through. Really looking forward to listening to this. Thanks so much.
  3. again happy with my FB2012 LD! The way it was seen in the '80s and the same edition that I craved in my youth.
  4. One of the few sweet things about living in Australia is the $1000 duty free limit on imports.
  5. haha, OP, that's hilarious. Exactly how I felt watching Macross 7 (and no not just the first 15 episodes where it actually was the same song).
  6. One bounty hunter to another, if I'd jumped on the bandwagon when the "new and improved" technology of DVD came out for DYRL in the late '90s then I'd be left with a macro blocky DYRL? with a clipped soundtrack. I'm still not convinced that what we're seeing on BD is what was shown in the theatres or an over-enhanced parody of it. I'll stick with LD for the forseeable future I guess, it satisfies me and my copy of Perfect Edition only cost me $8 in Tokyo in 2002. That's a lot of value over a decade. If I can make it last another 50 years think of the savings on a perfectly acceptable copy of the movie that is not only great looking, it is analogue and is exactly what original Macross fans in the '80s grew up on. It's like a piece of history.
  7. Do they have Samurai Pizza Cats up? In high school that was easily my favorite cartoon.
  8. I'm still contemplating never watching the BD and sticking to my LD, it still seems to me that the LD was how it was meant to be seen at home.. kind of like for historical accuracy of Macross fandom, the softness of LD video has a charm to it too, the sound is brilliant and it just seems right..
  9. the stuff in this thread makes my jaw drop. I have amassed a few b-clubs and a lot of Animages with Macross coverage from the early '80s but some stuff in this thread I've never seen. Diorama books are amazing.
  10. She sings in Japanese and English, has many English only albums. You have to be a fan of soft pop music to appreciate her later work. imo there is usually a big difference between anime music and normal pop music, the quality of the latter is usually greater and in Mari's case this is definately the case. She is a student of music with many influences and that didn't come out in her heavily controlled music for Macross. She's had some very catchy tunes ever since Midori. I definately enjoy her post Macross music more. You haven't responded to my PM so I assume you aren't willing to post overseas?
  11. Monster's DYRL setup is what I've been trying to build the last few years, have most of the CMs I need, the 1/3000 SDF, Fokker, Hikaru and a v1 Elint. Still no where to put it all though! I would change one thing about Monster's setup though, I would have Fokker's 1S in fighter mode, there's nothing like Fokker 1S w/ fast packs in fighter mode...
  12. I'm drooling over the wargaming possibilities with a setup like that.
  13. The movie within the universe explanation was just a comment by Kawamori wasn't it? Not anything in writing? I'd put it down to Kawamori just wanting fanboys off his back. I prefer to think of DYRL as just a retelling with its own neat canon (MII, FB2012 & associated games).
  14. As much as I would love a VF-4 I'm not buying until I know I can have the FB2012 version. Experience has taught me that patience pays off and to never compromise to get something almost as good earlier.
  15. Familiarity is warm and comforting. I find anything less crude and disturbing. I've probably felt this way since I was 25 years old (34 now).
  16. Yamato joke machines/SD valks are coming out? Have I completely missed this news??!!
  17. Again interesting Seto. Me included also! It just "feels" like Macross like nothing has since. Every other incarnation post Macross II I just felt like I was watching a completely different show that happened to have the title Macross. The one exception for me was the end of Macross 7 that had a little bit of that old feeling but the mecha and enemies just didn't feel right. The mecha and epic battles against cool enemies is the most important part of Macross for me. Space vampires and possessed UN spacy pilots are just...stupid.
  18. I must have misheard. I'm not sure if its how VF5SS speaks but when I was listening it seemed like there were a lot of small cuts and re edits and it was sometimes hard to follow his train of thought. He did mention Tomita though but also mentioned a connection between the Supervision Army in SDFM and the Mardook in MII. Am I wrong VF5SS? Ah, that's fascinating and I had always wondered about it, I never quite made the connection myself. Thanks for the detailed and informative reply again.
  19. The landing clip certainly feels like a real Alien movie. Atmosphere is all there, characters seem nice and appropriately low key/bad ass. CG'd Prometheus ocassionally gives me the a little TOO smooth/fake/not heavy enough feeling inherent in CG but looks like they have used all real sets and possibly some models for some shots of the Prometheus too. Good signs. edited for grammar
  20. Interesting..So basically it's supposed to be Space Japan? Seto, is the booby trap incident considered to have occurred in DYRL/MII continuity before the events of DYRL? Ie are the early cut scenes in the Sega Saturn DYRL game considered canon? If so then what origin is the SDF-1/ASS-1 considered to have in that continuity? Obviously not Supervision Army since they don't exist but Meltrandi?
  21. Keith - Ok I thought the podcast made a vague reference to the MII script writers, who were new to Macross, basing the Marduk on the Supervision Army in the original? I think the 2036/MII/Eternal Love Song canon is more a more natural evolution aesthetically. Edit: Just saw Seto Kaibas very informative post and I'm guessing he is somewhat of an expert on MII so I'll take his word for it. Thanks Seto for clearing that up in great detail!
  22. I prefer the SDFM/MII/2036/ELS continuity, it seems more pure to the franchise, especially the mecha and character designs, being good and logical evolutions from the original. I'm not a fan of any Kawamori mecha post VF-4 with the possible exception of the VF-11C. The podcast makes an interesting point. Were the Marduk actually supposed to be the Supervision Army by a different name?
  23. FYI it's available from Scale Solutions all the time with free international shipping. Just google scale solutions.
  24. On the Dragon stealth black hawk, Dragon also re-released their very out of date SEAL team kits from the 1990s in a double pack commemorating/cashing in on Neptune Spear. Wow that's seriously cool. It's clearly not 1/7 scale though! They say it's 1 inch to 7 feet, so 1/84th scale??, looks bigger than that...
