  1. I'm working as an English teacher in Kagawa prefecture and I saw this ad laying on the table in the teachers room along with the rest of the newspaper. Looks like a new Macross Frontier pachinko game.
  2. I'm a huge Macross fan and I love reading. I'm always grateful to dedicated fans willing to translate material English speaking fans wouldn't have otherwise. Gubaba should be praised for his work and more fans should be encouraged to do so. As a western fan of Macross I feel we have so little compared to other mainstream anime. Anything that trickles down to us in our own language should be cherished.
  3. Quamzin used a chasma in the episode Bye-bye Mars to hide before his attempted ambush. I was imagining that was why it was chosen but It's just wishful thinking.
  4. I saw this pop up on my Facebook wall and noticed the word Macross Chasma on the bottom left-hand part of the picture. It appears that someone at NASA is a Macross fan.
  5. I'm under the opinion that Macross shouldn't ever be made into live action. What I would love to see is the Macross TV series remade into anime movies similar to how it was done with Evangelion. It shouldn't be condensed into one film or it runs the risk of being too similar to DYRL whether it be live action or animated. However if it was a trilogy I think it would do the series justice. if the story where broken down in this way it would work perfectly. The first movie should end with the Macross finally reaching Earth after its long journey back. The second movie could end with the battle to end Space War 1. And the third would be based on the episodes following the battle showing the aftermath. One change I would make is have the second movie end with Boldolzas fleet arriving at Earth and have the third film open with the battle.
  6. Anyone who's an expert at controlling vehicles like Roy can push them to their limits and still be in complete control. He knew what he was capable of and it may appear crazy to others only because it's beyond their capability.
  7. It's too hard to believe that he would let himself die. There was too much at stake. He had a woman that he loved and loved him, he had his best friend, and he had his responsibilities as Skull Leader during the most important war in human history. Despite being a drunk and a womanizer Roy was very level headed and held safety as a number one priority. There is no way he would let hubris stand in the way of living the rest of his life. I just don't buy it.
  8. I recently re-watched the episode Pineapple Salad. I don't think I'm spoiling it for anybody here by discussing Roy's death. It just didn't make any sense to me. I don't believe that he wasn't aware that he was injured. He must have been in immense pain. Why didn't he go to the hospital? Was he just being a tough guy and ignoring it? Was he embarrassed by being shot down and trying to keep face? Why didn't the two men servicing his plane immediately check up on him as soon as they saw blood in the cockpit? Also when he was shot he was wearing his flight suit. When he died he was wearing his uniform. But when it showed his back it looked like the uniform was what he was wearing in battle since it had three holes where the blood was coming out from. Was he wearing his uniform underneath his flight suit? None of it makes any sense.
  9. Yes I remember, but a lawsuit within the Japanese court system is a lot easier for them than fighting an international copyright case. It would be an uphill battle against HG. Especially when American copyright law doesn't recognize decisions made in the Japanese courts. They see the cost of legal fees outweighing the profit of distributing Macross worldwide. It's purely a money thing.
  10. Yes, that's what I do. But it's not completely their fault. Bandai and Big West don't seem to believe the international rights to Macross is worth fighting for.
  11. I wouldn't blame Macross fans outside Japan for the demise of Macross Ace. How could anyone know of it's existence unless they are a superfan and browse these forums? In my case I wait for the collected volumes to buy it which is probably like most fans interested in MTF. Besides it's not like Macross Ace was so widely available. I never even saw it at Kinokuniya. No I don't. The International Macross fanbase is so small compared to Japans that it would only make a small fraction of a difference if any. I doubt if the publisher even knows or cares what portion of their distribution is sold overseas. Whether Macross lives or dies is based solely up to the Japanese fans.
  12. Thanks for replying Gubaba. I had no idea there was this much turmoil going on. I understand it's a lot of work to translate and if it's not fun for you then it's not worth it. What really bothers me is why there aren't people lined up to help translate it. I see so many obscure manga getting fan translations yet MTF only has barely a handful of people interested in working on it. I would think it's obvious how the quality of Macross outshines most anime and manga. I don't understand why it's still such an underdog. With a series as important to me as Macross I try to support it in any way I can. But I'm not sure what impact international sales of Macross the First have on it's overall sales figures. It's main focus is of course Japanese fans and it may be that they aren't all that interested in the magazines that MTF were distributed in. I wonder how well the collected volumes and digital sales have been doing. It has staying power despite the setbacks and it gives me hope that the series will continue until Mikimoto ends it on his own terms. It means more to me that it continues to be published than to have it translated to English.
  13. Are any fan groups continuing to translate this manga into English? I know of only two, Red Shoulders and Galaxy Network. Both of which have stopped releasing new issues and the farthest they got in the series was the first half of Vol. 2. I've been buying the physical copies released in Japan because I want to support it. Has Harmony Gold sent out C&D letters to these fan translators? Are there any groups that will pick up the series? It's a shame because there is no other manga I want to read more than this one.
  14. I only have one cel and it's from Macross 7. It comes with the line art so i'm thinking of a frame that would display them side by side. Also I'd like a frame that protects it as much as possible if there is a kind of frame made specifically for animation cels. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
