Sorry to hear about these issues peeps :( It seems as though the 31A has turned from a sure-thing must-buy to a bad memory for lots of you. I feel legitimately fortunate that mine is arriving tomorrow, all being well.

I was looking forward to the 31A for an external reason.

I got my Mirage VF-31 the day my old company made the announcement that they were closing the offices and moving them somewhere else.  We all had a choice to either move or be laid off.  I chose to be laid off, and my relationship with the business I had put so much blood, sweat, tears, and sleepless nights into ended.  My Mirage VF marks an ending.

Since then,  I got a new job, and now the disruption of the ending of my old job is over.  I'm back on a normal income schedule.  Everything is caught up.  The VF-31A was arriving at just the right time to mark the ending of the "Kaos" in my life.

So, of course it sits in Hong Kong for a prolonged period of time and then gets randomly shipped off to Maine.

I know my problem is minor compared to everyone else.  At least mine shipped.  But now I'm dreading that it's going to be delivered to the wrong address.

I think the VF-31A is cursed.  This whole thing looks to be a total clusterfrakk.

  2. This doesn't bode well.

My estimated delivery date was today.  But instead of my tracking showing "Out for Delivery" or something within that ballpark, the tracking hasn't been updated.

For the past several days the status has been "In Transit to Next Facility."  Where was it at?  Where is it in transit to?  Who knows?  The only reliable thing is the status has been refreshed each morning.

    Except this morning.

And a quick addendum.  As I was typing this, I checked again.  Now all the status update times have disappeared, leaving only the dates.  Getting nervous now.

  3. My Loopaza 31A now says "Handed over to carrier / Left for destination"!  Woot!

Mommar, I hope yours is moving too.

I also sympathize with you about BBTS.  I have  Power Baser on pre-order for months.  It's frustrating to see the figure come in stock every week and not have my order filled.

  4. I was weak and bought some RPG stuff on sale.

Kinda interesting how all the books I got are first printings.  I know that most of the books originally had a "manga size" version, so these full sized books are technically second printings.  Still, it makes me think the books didn't sell well at all past the original release when these have print dates of 2008.

Flipping through the Macross book in particular makes me feel that not a single bit of fan input over 20 years was paid any attention to other than to do the exact opposite.  I suppose it's playable, but just like the original it looks like a lot of house rules are required to get it to function anything resembling emulative of the show.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit the format and the art didn't take me back to the 90s when I played Robotech every week with my friends.

I was pleasantly surprised at the Expeditionary Force Marines book.  I had no idea what it was going to be.  It made me grin ear to ear when I realized it was Sentinels (the era I played in the most).  I like Chuck Walton's mecha art, and I thought his redefinitions of the Sentinel destroids were pretty cool (even if heavily copied from the Alpha).  I haven't gone over the stats too much, but I can say that if this book had been branded in such a way that I'd known what it was, I probably would have been weak enough to pick it up a lot earlier.

Not interested in any of the RRT stuff.  I'd never assemble it, and I doubt I'd ever play it.  I'd like some little VFs, Tomahawks, and Defenders, but I just can't justify the clutter, especially when I have a WH40K set which I bought, half assembled, and then shoved off into a corner never to play.

  5. No update for me this morning. The one I ordered from Loopaza still shows as arrived at the processing center in Hong Kong, and there it has stayed since the 21st.

  6. The guns definitely look like an afterthought.  They're just ovals crudely pasted in.

Actually, I think they were using models for reference.  It looks like they had some Hi Metals or Toynami battloids kind of crudely posed and then did a quick sketch.  They used something with a ball joint hip.  That also explains why the hands are so... fudged.

Does anybody else have an order from Loopaza just hanging out in Pre-shipment not doing a damn thing?  It's been like this for three days.

Tracking on mine has been on "Acceptance" for the past 2 days.

And I've ordered from Loopaza before, shipping is the real killer since they're in Hong Kong but after the anticipated markups from N-Y, Mandarake, Jungle, Anime Export or anyone else that gets stock over and above any pre-orders or 2nd hand it's likely to be very much a wash in price.

I typically use EMS when I buy something from AmiAmi or Volks Japan anyway.  An Arcadia Valkyrie shipped EMS by Ami Ami is around 4,500 yen, which is about $40 USD most of the time.  So, $43 for shipping isn't a big surprise.

  9. I'd like to get a KC Minmei.  It looks OK, and should go along my figmas well enough.

Not liking the KC Rick.  His face looks messed up.  Not as messed up as the Toynamis, but bad enough.

The Toynamis look really bad.  As someone said earlier, only Miriya looks passable and only just barely.  Roy might be marginal as well.  It's difficult to tell.

If Minmei turns out good, and if KC did more character figures, I might be in for some if they look decent enough.  Scott and Marlene/Ariel would be nice.  1/12 scale Alpha!

  10. In regards to the 31A.  Since I'm still new and inexperienced in the ways of Bandai Valkyrie madness...  I had to skip on pre-ordering back in November.  What are my options going to be for scoring one of these now?  Will HLJ or CD Japan or some other vendor likely get them in stock on release, or am I stuck with ebay or something?

  11.  Orindlt, your massive hoard inspired me to take some pictures of my new Eaglemoss XL Enterprise, so this flood of images is your fault! :)

And, as I was handling it, the deflector dish fell off AGAIN!  GRRRRR!

Anyway, here we go.  I'll spoiler most of these so those who don't want a flood of the Enterprise can avoid it.

I took that picture and felt there needed to be a Klingon marauding around, so I took it again with extra bonus Klingon DLC!

The Diamond Select Enterprise B  is the same scale as the Eaglemoss XL Enterprise, so I had to do a couple of shots of that.

It's pretty clear in the first shot, but you can REALLY see how crooked the deflector spike is here.

All in all, I thought she was pretty photogenic.
