Quirtra Queramitzuu: Kamikaze Space Cucumber
Ghadrack replied to captain america's topic in Model kits
It can be yor first foray into the crossover world of Macross Marital Aides, you'd make a mint in Japan I tell ya!! Seriously though, rough estimate of the length in 1/5000 would it be like a meter long? What if you just picked an odd scale that would look good on a shelf? -
I gave the show a chance, and I thought it started out pretty well. I'll be tuning in to see how things develop. It had some super hero cliches, and was just a little cheesy, but that's not a big deal if it's well written and acted, They've got some fun to watch actors involved so I'm hopeful.

I gave the instructions a bump. Out of curiousity. Lets say that there is a pretty long line of Kits on a guy's workbench ahead of this one. Would it be better to bake the parts and let them sit in the box, or wait until you are ready to start building before breaking out the cookie sheet?
-
Kits are being received, bumping instructions so folks that didn't get a copy can print em out
-
I just cruised by the Post Orifice and picked up mine. Now, is there an instruction thread? I vaguely recall something about having a few parts that require baking again, is that right?
-
Likewise, I'll keep an eye peeled to this thread because I highly doubt anyone else will come to market with a 1/72 Monster, but take care of your priorities first, after all this is supposed to be a hobby and fun. I hope things settle down and you get some fun time in the ear future!

Bandai planning to re-release more classic IMAI kits
Ghadrack replied to AcroRay's topic in Model kits
I also wouldn't put it past Bandai from playing a little hardball with competitors and putting this stuff out, only because Wave started making Macross kits. It's hard to know what their motivations are, but I find it a little suspicious and strangely coincidental that this is happenign right around the time Wave it just starting to come to market with some Macross kits that haven't been sold since the Arai / Imai days. -
Bandai planning to re-release more classic IMAI kits
Ghadrack replied to AcroRay's topic in Model kits
Looking at the detroids they've chosen, they are cognizant of the recent Wave releases and have chosen to supplement the recent releases, so they don't oversaturate and end up wiht a bunch of peg warmers. I'd bet they'd also rush to beat competitors to the punch with re-releases of old stuff that someone else was looking at putting out. So if some someone else was thinking about releaseing a Regult, or a Monster, they just may have lost part of their market. -
Quirtra Queramitzuu: Kamikaze Space Cucumber

I don't understand why I love and hate you so much at the same time. The skills are unquestionable, the stuff you make is always, without fail, awesome. But my wallet keeps saying "That guy is the devil, you need to ignore him and all of the foul temptations that he dangles in front of you. I think that stupid wallet is sitting next to my bed brainwashing me in my sleep. You know what, screw him. Cap'n wins, I want mooooooooooooore!!!! Lookin good. I'm really happy that you've come out as a zentran/meltran design fan and are excited about doing their ships. I love watching them come together and can't wait to get my copy(ies)! -

I agree with this ^ In fact, sometimes damage makes itself even when I'm not going for it -
Color me interested as well. Space Cucumbers are awesome!

You know, the more I think about this, this is reverse Robotechyization. Instead of creating a cartoon to support a product line, they've got these games, Battleship (and I read they are also making a Monopoly movie and considering one based on Chutes and Ladders for kids) and they are banking on the name recognition drwing an audience, then getting a script developed that has brushed with the subject matter and includes key references and catch phrases. I imagine for a Hollywood creative type, getting the blank slate to make a movie about Battleships and pretty much the freedom to write whatever the hell you want as long as it includes some battleships fighing and someone shouting the titular line, "You sank my Battleship!" probably as the crescendo of the final battle would be a real lark. Don't get me wrong, I think these are rediculous ideas, and probably will be terrible movies. But I found their inverted relationship to how RowBoatTech came about kinda funny.

The music on the trailer i saw was sampled from a song called The Crab Louse by Lords of Acid. There are about 30 remixes of the song, I haven't gone through them to identify the specific mix but it sounds like to original album version off Voodoo U. I happen to love a good B movie, this movie looks like pure escapism to me, I'm sold, I hope it's fun and have zero expectations that it will be a perfectly crafted, fully developed story with flawles characters and plot. Sometimes being ultra cynical takes all the fun out of life.

I went back and forth on the Robocop remake/reboot/re-envisioning, whatever, but ultimately I was pretty excited to see what Arenofsky came up with as long as his vision was compromised with studio nonsense (3D). Too bad.

VF-1 Valkyrie (Egg Plane) (HOBBY SHOW Pre-order)

The first half dozen episodes, I thought, were terrible, the actors clearly hadn't figured out their parts, the father trying to speak 'Scientist" as though it were an accent he could put on to make you think he was a genius, the main character's ability to get permission to do literally anything, no matter how dangerous or stupid in a moment's notice, it was too much so I bailed on the show. Then a year later all my friends were watching it telling me how cool it got. So I borrowed the DVD's suffered through the first few episodes again, and then the show sort of took off for me. by the end of the first season I was in to it and couldn't wait for more. So I'd say if you give it a chance, make sure you get to the end of the first season because the first few spisodes in my opinion were victims of the cast and crew still developing their show and style.

I went ahead and picked up a second copy of #1 and a couple copies of #2 from Things From Another World linked off Dark Horse's website, just as an FYI, they packed up the comics well in thick cardboard and they arrived in perfect condition. I'm not thrilled wiht paying shipping on comic books, but since my comic shop failed me I bit the bullet. Anyhow, they seem like a good E-tailer. Now maybe I can send a copy of #1 in a S.A.R.E. to LSB and get it signed by the creator
-
I think you have a little leeway on the sizes, I may be remembering incorrectly, but doesn't it anime magic perfect fit the user in either civilian or armored mode?
-
Looks like my local comic shop dropped the ball and didn't get me a copy of issue #2 even though I added it to my pull list. I see the Dark Horse site drives consumer traffic to TFAW. Anyone dealt with them before? Is there any other means of buying the comic that benefits the creator more than another here in terms of DH sales numbers?

I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but looking at your masters is always a joy. Seeing the beginning and then the end product is amazing, it's like watching "How It's Made" on the science channel. Thanks for sharing the proces you go through, this is a pretty impressive looking kit!

Just back from Wonderfest myself, I got a couple pics of the AT-AT, Probe Droid, Met Steve Niesen and picked up an SS Interceptor, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet ya. Still interested here too!

They are, I saw some expo on G4 a couple months ago, there were a couple companies there selling TV's and Download Boxes who already had a dozen or so 3-D movies and live streaming 3-D content. I gotta say though, there is definitely the horrifying capacity to have some serious "What has been seen, cannot be unseen" moments if this technology is used for evil. Imagine in 3-D. The world doesn't need to go there.

Hahaha, great post Save. I have to admit to being one of those jackass foreigners, we were in one of the multi-level arcades in Akihabara and there was a Gundam Card Machine Tournament going on and I knew one of my friends back home would want to se a picture when I tried to describe the thing to him because we'd never seen games like that before. I got the camera out, snapped a picture and three little japanese guys literally dove in front of me making X's with their arms saying "No No No" in Japanese then they politely escorted me out of the building. I think I got a picture fo them doing their X-Arm dance crossing their arms in front of me trying to get a picture, I need to dig up those pics some time

I watched a marathon of that show yesterday, after a couple episodes I just tuned in on commercial breaks from Law & Order to see the weapon demos on the gel corpse and then the last five minutes to watch their result based on what looked like a random number generator with a half dozen weapon and armor variables fed into it determined by how the people demonstrating the weapons were at striking a gel corpse. But, it is an entertainment program, so I had fun watching them break stuff and then seeig the simulations. I found the bravado / bickering between the "experts" very annoying and really pretty hard to watch/listen to. Oh, but the ER Doc from LA was pure comedy gold. "I work in an ER in Los Angeles, and I can tell you that this 50 caliber bullet between the eyes that blew this dummy's brain out would really do a lot of damage to a person, I am very impressed!" LOL I will bet you money that they are banking Ninja-Vs-Pirate for when they are trying to get ratings for a renewal or for a season/series finale
