I dunno about an idea for a series but I had an idea for a cool plot turn in a 60 year post-Macross series, where in some large battle with a new deadly enemy the Macross forces come across a space hulk, a drifting wreck of the SDF with Hikaru entombed in a converted mech, sort of like a dreadnaught in Warhammer 40K, the pilot is technically a corpse kept alive on life support by the machine.
Anyhow, they gas him up and the Hikaru, some heavily armored and modified VF just goes ballistic and turns the tide in a fight.
So some new enemy has confronted the human race ominous overtones, this derelict UNSpacy craft is found with a barely recognizable. heavily armored and modified VF inside that they don't understand but put the techs to work on. Then a major battle insues some time later and out of nowhere this ultra bad-ass retrofitted armored VF comes out and owns the enemy in the fight, turning the tide of the battle, and they cut back to the scientist/mechanics who explain that it appears that the VF is the final resting place of Admiral Hunter who when dying was entombed in a "Dreadnought" so that his last memory would be that of defending the people of earth.
Then some cataclysmic battle happened, the crew was destroyed, he was disabled in the battle and left on life support in the hold for decades. Now he is a little insane, a complete combat monster and ready to whip alien ass

Or something like that

Edit~
OK there we go, after re-reading and thinking, here is my idea for a future series.
60 or so years after Macross takes place, a derilict craft of earthen origin is located drifting toward the earth system.
The ship is towed back to orbit for further examination, inside the craft they find signs of battle and carnage, no survivors and very limited records. They also find a heavily damaged, and very modified VF, which is sealed in armor and strangely is still showing a very minor power reading and a very faint life form inside.
After accessing the limited records in the craft they are able to ascertain the the craft is the SDF3 (Or some long lost ship from Hikaru's fleet, maybe better that it be an obscure craft that doesn't cue the audience to the VF pilot.)
Through scanning they also determine that the heavily armored VF contains the shrivelled and broken body of a human being, he is on a minimal life support and appears to be brain dead. SO the scientists continue to work on this mystery for a couple episodes.
Next they find in the data recorders images of the new enemy, although they are badly deteriorated and hardly recognizable. now insert some new enemy bent on colonization of habittable worlds enslaving carbon based life forms, killing everything in their path, eatting planets like gum balls, whatever, a report by the outter defenses that a strage ship has been spotted scanning the earth and in come the baddies.
Then after one major ass kicking by the enemy a large battle ensues, and the UN forces are being owned, out of nowhere a heavily modified and craily armored VF comes out of nowhere and destroys the bad guy lead fighter in a hail of death. Through the VF monitors is projected a CG image of the face of a crazed and aged looking Hikaru screaming insanely as he single handed ly turns the tide of the fight.
After the battle they find out some history from Hikaru, but he is not quite sane but completely lovable, so they can't quite get the whole picture of what happened out there out of him.
Add some plot about Misa or the children being kidnapped by the alien race, have Misa's baby or children have been converted and be fighting with the enemy against the humans so that Hikaru can die a herioc death taking a bullet that one of his kids fired.
Yeah, I could go on for a couple years
You get the idea. I like the idea of a crazy grizzled hikaru coming back from the grave to go berserk, that would rock. -
Actually a hint of purple might serve you well, too much black is going to give you a dried blood, very dark red color, I think you may get what you are looking for by adding just a tiny bit of purple to keep the hue from going to dark but still giving you that deep red.
Just a though if you start farting around with blending and can't get the shade you are looking for

395 bucks, there better be 10 of each included

And to think I left my set of three in a hotel room dresser in El Paso about 15 years ago, gosh darn it

That wedding dress auction was hilarious, I love the guy's running commentary in the comments box, 5 marriage proposals, just goes to show that lots of the ladies like the idea of being mistreated.

First off I agree that Macross is much better off without the glitzy swordfighting.
Dexterity and Agility are key in martial combat. One reason Bretai was able to pummel the Valks in hand to hand is that he is an agile, unencumbered soldier versus a plodding robot. Even weighing the VT down with an auxiliary knife is unnessecary, if they can't get it done with their gunpod and headlasers what good is a pocketknife or a sword going to do?

I picked one of these up a month ago, I was extremely pleased with it. It is not the most articulated toy in the world, but it is fantastic as a display piece, and if you think about the T-800 endoskeletons in the movies, they weren't exactly doing backflips or anything.
Anyhow, I think it is the best Terminator collector's toy I have seen around so I had to snatch one up. Now if they would just make a T-1000 like a transparent Stretch Armstrong filled with Mercury

-
I am a little mroe excited about this kit now that Yamato is entertaining the idea of producing one as a toy. Seeing as how this is a copy of the prototype it will be a seriously cool addition to the collection!

Keep up the good work man!

I hate supporting their evil, monopolistic business but I have to agree that the Games Workshop sprue clippers are the highest quality ones I have used.
-
OK well my opinions.
The Bandai brand valkyrie is the most sturdy, toughest Valk toy out there, they are not nearly as detailed as many of the other available toys but they have their place.
The Yamato series 1/48 series is the most detailed, "nifty" Valkyrie around, they are much more expensive though and they are more fragile than the Bandai.
Banpresto are disposable Valks, you want something to play with on your desk at work, something to strap a firecracker to and lauch into the atmosphere, or just something to give to the kids to play with and break then these are the ticket.
For rarity you should go to the main page of this site and look up the collection, Shawn and Graham (The generous souls who have provided this place for us to congregate) have posted an extensive museum of Valk's and their prices/rarity, do a little looking around, I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Couple different things,
New Jersey is very very interested in cracking down on Fraud this year, I work for an insurance company and they have been very helpful in several cases recently. I think that mail fraud is one of the biggies they are focussing on right now, apparently they have had enough of the bad reputation stuff and are ready to put some people in check.
Good luck with that, nothing makes me madder than people jerking around on E-Bay ripping people off, it is such a handy outlet for collectors, it really is a shame how careful you have to be to avoid scammers.
Second, that lightsaber auction, I will bet that guy is trolling for stupid sports figures and actors on collecting sprees.
Recently a couple basketball players including a big dummy who plays for the Lakers have been spotted snatching up entire series collections for more than they are worth just to get complete sets, you may see some auctions for sets of vintage comics with insane BiN prices, bait for dummies with lots O' money I guess.

Hell I'm taking a half day off next friday to go catch a matinee, I can't stand crowds but want to see that one on openning day

-
I grew up in Pomona CA, but now live in a little town called "Soddy Daisy" in Tennessee, and I a most assuredly the Only Macross fan in my town!
-
I have to agree LSB that is a spectacular looking mech, I think in 3-D like a model or Resin-Kit it would be even more magnificent. That is a really spectacular design

Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if a well written report to E-Bay with all of the evidence you have compiled against this person who is obviously abusing the system would accomplish anything?
Worst case scenario they would shut dow his scamming accounts and he would show back up under another assumed name and have free reign to screw MW members again until he got busted again....
Maybe it is best to just keep an eye peeled for anyone having anything to do with the known E-Bay accounts for future safety.

What a jerk

It's emerging technology. This first generation stuff, while an exciting prospect is not going to revolutionize our lives. People are already going on about how this is "Replicator" technology right out of Star Trek, and how soon we won't have to go to the grocery store, we will just have to reload our protein and polysaccharide cartiges.. blah blah blah.
The concept and the potential of the technology is great, but it has a significant way to go before it becomes practical. The idea that someday you may be able to "Print" out new gaskets for your washing machine or replace a 1/48 back-pack hinge by hitting the print button is pretty cool, but realistically the liklihood that we will see this technology proliferated anytime in the near future is slim. The government will not like the idea of this.
-
Here either, you know the old saying, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", the rumor that Yamato might make a toy, someday, on some far distant planet has no effect whatsoever on my desire to have one of these beauties
.Keep up the great work man!

Just so you know. Recasting isn't scratch building.

God I love posting my stuff.....

That is incredible, incredible work. You definitely ought to set up a seperate thread for updates whenever you work on this again.
With your skills, I bet you never get bored

I too have wondered about this dealer, if they are reliable, and if the product is worth the price. Anyone else had any experience dealing with them?
-
Sweetness, I was getting all sorts of distortion when I tried to blow up the little pics, those will work great.
I am gonna try to have the large black and white version on the back and the black and white logo (Bumpersticker version) you put up last on the chest.
I tried clipping out the Gerwalk monster across the Macross logo to use as a front chest pocket design but I am getting too much image distortion when I try to blow it up. The bumpersticker image will work well too.
Anyhow, If I get around to getting one made, How do you want to be credited?
Design by: VF22Red
Or you have another pen-name you would like on there?
Depending on what my buddy charges me to make the shirt I will try to have him make a second one to send to you for the cool design work. I'll send you a P.M. to get your info if I get off my butt and get it done

-
Well, I think it still looks pretty sharp, It could definitely be better, but I am still clinging to the hope that this os going to be the low-Rent version and we are going to see a 1/60ish (or bigger) version available for collectors in the not too distant future. I have my fingers crossed for a big beauty for display and will pick up one of these to play with

~edit~ I have to say, I don't much like the look of those flimsy shoulder joints though, if they are not on metal pins, (I think they said this was a Zero Metal toy) then that looks like a stress point that may not hold up to casual transformations/use. Ick
-
I am totally enamored with the second design, the first one is bad-ass as well, but the second one, I want T-Shirts with some of the artwork on them. In fact, would you be offended if I snipped your picture and threw some of those designs on a shirt?
-
No packing would have saved that short of a steel box. Take a look, that package looks like it got "Karate Loaded" re: there was not enough space on the shelf it was loaded to so someone gave it a swift kick to wedge it in. It doesn't look like it got Stepladder treatment or else it would have been a real mess.

At any rate, yeah, everything I have ordered from Kevin at Valkyrie Exchange has shown up in pristine condition and packaged as well as could be short of encasing the items in steel, looks like you just got unlucky with the postal service, better luck next time.
-
That is a sweeeet looking entry, Keep up the good work, still got five more sides of the box to go

-
Sorry, been out of town for the last few days, What do I need to do to confirm my order? I am definitely in for one without question.

But dude, he wrapped it in 3 dollars and 26cents worth of plexiglass, doesn't that count for something? Custom Display case man, that thing must be worth a fortune!!!
