  1. Hey just a heads up, I checked in at Starshipmodeler this morning and they are listing that they got a limitted supply of the 1/60 scale Fan Racer kit from Yamato. I had forgotten that this was coming out and thought it was a magazine exclusive or something. Anyhow, they had 6 at 8 am, and are down to 2 now, so if you see this and are interested, you might wanna check fast.

Mods, sorry if this isn't realy an approriate post for the model section, I'm not affiliated with SSM, just wanted to give the modelers here a heads up.

~Edit Search Fail~ I swear when i searched for the other thread that I just found, my search came back empty, anyhow, if you wanna merge this thread or just trash it after a couple hours I understand.

  2. Don't worry, the interest still do not reach the 40 mark.

I've been waffling because I am going to end up living in a house made of model kit boxes if I don't get a bigger place soon, but I'm in. I can't let one of these glorious Moscato projects slip past.

    In for one.

  3. I think I'm missing some sort of inside joke, but is this a new comic by a member of the forums? If so i'll reserve a copy at my comic shop and give it a chance. out here in Podunk TN, not much chance that they are just goign to stock a bunch of copies so i can stumble upon it.

  4. It's always on my mind.....I was really, really thinking about a 1/2000 TV one...I have a guy that does 3d stuff for me now for some of the more complicated stuff, in fact on the big AT AT the neck, drive units, and a handfull of other parts are "grown" parts. I also did a 1/12 TOS BSG viper and almost 1/3 of that was "grown" parts. Now that we have worked on a few projects together we have a good groove going where i can do the bigger stuff with traditional methods and really tricky stuff gets done in the computer. I really need to hammer out this AT AT and the monster and think about what comes next, I have more ideas than i have time is usually the issue with me....

Good to hear, I know I'll be patiently waiting to see what comes up.

That 1/12 viper kit is incredible. The build up that I think Moffeaton? is doing with the LCD display in the cockpit is really incredible stuff. I just wish I had room for some of the cool stuff you've done.

  5. Oh hey, and someday when you get the bug to do another Macross project, that 2500 scale SDF-1 would still be pretty darn awesome, Yamato's 2K scale wasn't really reasonable for anyone other than the ultra-fan with deep pockets, at least one other guy talked about doing a 2500 scale kit and decided not to. I know I still want one :)

  6. You know, I'm glad that they are working on new tech, but 3-D is going to continue to suck for a long time while they work on trying to "solidify" the images. You know how 2D looks so crisp and clean and sharp, 3-D images all, and I can't think of anything that looks nearly as good as a quality 2-D image, looks fake and "thin" and poorly defined for lack of a better way to put it. It's probably going to take three generations of major improvement before I'd even consider dropping a quarter on a 3-D product aside from a cheap hand-held video game system.

I think you'd have to be a lunatic to drop 4 grand on one of these current 3-D TV's with no serious content right now and 1st gen tech. I'm generally an early adopter, but this particular round, I've seen what they have to offer and I don't find it an improvement over the quality of image I'm seeing on old tech.

That being said, Nintendo's Hand Held is probably perfect for me to dip my toe into the pool because I know I'll replace it 5 times as the tech improves and won't be out several thousand dollars.

  7. I guess I was putting this off because I wanted to get stuff at Wonderfest, was hoping these would be there and have a little Macross goodies in my trunkload of goodies to bring home, but that's prolly silly. Put me down for one right away! And whatever else you guys do in this like of 5k scale stuff I'm down for.

  8. I have my PS3 hooked up to the internet with a wired connection (as does my brother) and we have the wireless connection disabled. I wonder if this is just a syncing error and offline PS3's will run fine, so long as they don't connect and get corrupted, or if I watch a Blu Ray disc on it, if it's still going to stroke out.

I'm not so impatient that I can't wait a few days to find out what the score is, but I'm curious. My brother was up playing his last night after the clock rolled over (Offline, single player) and his system didn't take a crap on him this morning, but it wasn't hooked up to the internet.

Hopefully just a hiccup in what has otherwise been an awesome system. I wish I'd picked up a third one to put in the closet when they came out. I was told that they have stopped production on PS2's so my giant collection of old games is going to be worthless if my new PS2 slim and backwards compatible PS3 bite it.

  9. Quick update...not a lot done, i am finishing another pattern in the next couple of weeks and then i will be back on this, i am hoping to still get end of march but it may be april, I do plan on taking this V2 to Wonderfest in may, hopefully a built one.....

    thanks

    mike

Awesome, I plan to be there and I'd love to see it!

  10. Do you mean this one? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32020

It sounds pretty awesome, but the price tag is as far out there as the Megaroad!! Plus, I have to consider shelf space, as in I don't have any!!

But I do have to get working on my SDF-1 again, before the same thing happens to me! I've been working on my Andromeda so much, it's sitting by the wayside...

MSLZZ was talking about it a couple years ago it may have ben on the tail end of the original 1/72 monster thread. Anyhow, I'd be interested.

  11. I didn't question Justicar's abilities nor do I give a rats arse about the toy and I'm sure most other serious modellers don't either, all I wanted to know is it ever going to happen.

Justicar has given his reasons although I'm not sure where the pulling a fast one came from unless there were behind the scenes carryings on. It is good to know that he hasn't completely abandoned the idea and once your economy climbs out of the toilet hopefully it will get off the ground.

I wasn't accusing you of anything, just trying to give some positive reinforcement that there are people around who know his work, trying to inject some positivity :) I think there was some internet miscommunication early on.

  12. Fixed.

Totally true, but the show was geting better and here's my armchair quarterbacking.... They seriously screwed the pooch on this one with the slow burn.

    1. They should have aired Epitaph One, the unaired season 1 finale as the pilot for the show. or, the minute it was filmed, even if it was mid season, desperation should have lead them to make hard and unusual choices, things just moved way too slow season one to hold people's attention.

Lay out there how there actually is a huge, cool diabolical Sci fi plot to the show, because taking a season and a half to get past the faux prostitution arch was disasterous, peope don't have the attention span for it.

    2. Intersperse future and present plot at once in the show. I can't think of the girl's name, but Teh Internetz kidz love her, the one from Epitaph one. Had they shown one Dushku episode, then one with her in the future and had the story meet up then have those two fighting the resistance or whatever for the conclusion, they could have perhaps squeezed out a couple more years and kept fans interested.

After the first half season or so, and defnitely after watching epitaph one, I was interested in the show and tuning in every week. Too bad he's got another one biting the dust.

  13. yes yes, that's what it is, I'm just soooo stilted. I'll have you know sir, that not only do I not own a pair of stilts I have never even, in fact, been on a pair of stilts due to my horrible consuming fear of clowns.

ROFL, I gather by the snarkgasm you got my point though..... Freaking out about how a ninja movie is going to be over-the-top, or cliche'd or suck? Seriously? This type of movie isn't meant to be in contention for the best dramatic picture of the year or anything. This kind of movie is about the "holy crap, did you see that, he cut off 6 people's head's with a ninja star! lol, cheer, lol some more "

  14. I feel like I did a bad enough job representing what I wanted to do that people here don't trust me. It's as if they feel that I'm trying to pull a fast one, violate their childhood or some other unsavory act. I'm sorry if that's the impression I've given because it was not my intent. This past year has been financially ruinous for me and I don't want to invest in a gamble. I rarely outright cancel a project, but I will back-burner it until circumstances change to something more favorable.

    What's the "1/2000 toy fiasco?"

Not at all, We just need to get a couple pictures of your completed scale kits posted in the thread so people can see what you've done, a little eye candy never hurts :)

1/2000 toy fiasco was referring to the fact that Yamato toys was going to make a large scale version of the SDF-1, it was mentioned back in the thread several months ago and probably lead to some people gettnig cold feet about the idea of a model kit. There was price speculation, but then the company came out and the thing was going to retail for like $2,300.00 and just be a high end resin kit made by a prototyping company, so someone in the US was going to be looking at nearly $3,000.00 after purchase and shipping costs to get one, if they could at all.
