  1. awesome...I shall have to give it a try, perhaps with the pencil first.
  2. Just a comment in one of the threads about how even with half painted panel lines his 1/60 VF-0A looked good. I know some people completely customized theirs with paint but I had never heard about people doing just panel detail...
  3. Do people paint detail onto the panel lines of there 1/60/ 1/48 toys? I read something that made me wonder...
  4. I suppose a radio show is still a show... touche Gubaba You win this round Sounds bad by the wikipedia summary, but is there an English translation available? (probably not)
  5. There was a Macross show called Macross Generation? Where would I find it? But seriously if there is a Macross show I haven't seen I need to watch it now!
  6. I think the misconception is that you are suggesting that because "western" fans do not appreciate the delivery of the Macross theme in 7, that they don't understand it. For example many people did not like the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy that loved the books. Ultimately the same story/themes were present, but some fans did just not appreciate the delivery of the movies. This doesn't mean they didn't understand or like the original concepts, but that they just didn't care for how those were realized in the movies. As to what Macross is about, I largely agree with your statement; however, I would argue that flight and transforming plane/robots are also a pretty important reoccurring theme. Show me a Macross show without Valkyries and I will show you a pineapple salad without pineapple.
  7. Got mine on E-bay for $172 shipped. Not sure what kind of prices everyone else is getting. Seemed decent to me.
  8. It may be fact that Mac 7 hate is largely from US fans; however, stating they have no understanding of what Macross is about because they dislike 7 is not fact and comes across as arrogant. Perhaps you would like to explain what Macross is about in nice small words so that we can all finally understand.
  9. Got a package in the mail yesterday...poor quality photos, but here is my contribution anyway
  10. So then Mac 7 is resolved? As for Frontier, someone drew to my attention a few things from throughout the series and in episode 24 that after coming to my attention make it clear (to me at least) Alto is on team Sheryl, and rightfully so. With that being said, I haven't seen the movie yet.....
  11. Thanks for the replies, it was nice to have a topic not moved to the newbie section before being answered That is a good point about the protagonists disappearing after the series, kind of a Macross staple so I shouldn't be surprised (Shin quite literally disappears). As far as triangles go (and perhaps someone can correct me), Mac7 is the only one that doesn't seem resolved, all others including SDF Macross are wrapped up IMO(though until recently I didn't see the signs in Macross Frontier). Seto, when we talk about male Macross protagonists that need self control beaten into them with a frying pan, Isamu isn't the first one who comes to mind (my mind at least)
  12. So what happened to Isamu after Macross Plus? Did the army kick him out? Did he get a metal for being so awesome? Any info on this in the literature?
  13. OMG, Me and my brother literally cheered out loud during that scene for those exact reasons you stated. We had only seen SDF Macross and Robotech before, Our only DYRL experience came through Clash of the Bionoids at a very young age, so when we saw the full DYRL as adults that scene was beautiful. Totally deserved.
  14. Thanks for the fast response and great info. Now I am going to have to look up the scene in the vf-x game where the VB-6 does some CQB.
  15. My brother was recently house shopping and in one of the houses that him and his wife loved (which they are now purchasing) the owner had various 1/60 vf-1 yamato's posed around the house and an unboxed 1/48 VF-1. When my brother put in an offer on the the house I had him ask for the valkyries to be included but the owner (who is already in Hong Kong) wouldn't sell because they are too precious to him.......I guess I can't blame him
  16. This is going to sound like a stupid question, but here we go anyway... How is the city distributed inside the SDF-1? The impending release of the 1/3000 yamato got me thinking about this as its leg apparently opens up for some detail of the city. Is it all in the leg? Both legs? Does it creep up into the torso. Naturally I know that none would be in the arms. does someone have a "map" of the SDF-1 maybe from chronicle? lotsa stuff, sorry thanks
  17. Ah. I see. VB-6 doesn't seem too excessive unlike the Orc in the link. No more excessive then the Cheyenne at least. Better then a pair of useless hands IMO. Unless in the movie they show us some VB-6 CQB fighting in battroid, that perhaps could change my mind.
  18. After seeing it in the movie trailer at the end of Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime for the first time, my initial thought was "another fine customization by the Orkish Commission for More Dakka". I am completely unfamiliar with this reference. more info please, I am interested.
  19. Your knowledge impresses as always Seto. In regards to the hands, I am aware VB-6 has hands in battroid/destroid mode, what I meant was why not just give it some hands for Gerwalk mode instead of a whole new transformation (like Zero, but keep the rockets too). Anyway, I guess at some point you just have to say "because it is Macross" and giant robots are awesome. BTW, Does anyone else think that giant gattling guns on the arms of a VB-6 is freakin awesome?
  20. Just won the bid for mine today...looking forward to it
  21. Battroid used to be for fighting giant aliens in close quarters battle. VB-6 seems a little to large/ slow for this role. Lifting things makes sense, but why not hands like in ZERO then (in addition to rocket launchers)? IMO Gerwalk mode has the least application when it comes to Valkyries.
  22. I would imagine there is alot of truth to that, I will let you guys know how bad it is when I receive my copy. Fortunately I speak "Engrish" better then Japanese so I can at least somewhat figure out what is going on. This one has Malay subtitles as well and I have noticed that DVD's with Malay are usually a better translation then those with just English/Chinese.
  23. In regards to the VB-6 What is the point of the Destroid/ Battroid mode? Shuttle and gerwalk make sense to me. thanks
  24. I don't know if this is old news or not, but for those of us that don't speak Japanese, the english subtitled Macross Frontier Movie is now available on DVD (from the usual sources). I have just purchased my copy not a few minutes ago. Once I know what is going on I will probably pick up the Blu-Ray, for picture quality, PS3 game and to support the company but until then I am looking forward to finally enjoying what everyone else has already seen. Maybe now I will stop bidding on 1/60 toys for awhile........
