  1. I really don't understand that pose. What's it supposed to be doing anyway? It's neither funny nor cute nor cool looking. Wonder why all the kids do it.

  2. Normally I would pick the Perceval. However, my copy has the dumb banana head lasers which are bent out of shape and I can't straighten them no matter what I do (e.g. blowdryer, hot water, etc). So that detracts a lot from my enjoyment of the unit.

If you can manage to get one that has the lasers all straight and nice, definitely the Perceval. But if you are risk averse, then get the Isamu.

  3. I just realized that if Yellow's legs are longer, will that make it harder (or impossible) to place his feet naturally on the foot rest while riding? I checked the pics on the blog and they don't place his feet on them. Not sure if that was intentional or a hint that it can't be done without looking awkward.

  4. On the VF-4, will shaving some off the peg that tabs into the nosecone help reduce/eliminate the gap between the nose and cockpit in fighter mode?

Yeah but the cockpit ball in the first image is much smaller than it really is on the model kit. In the model kit, that ball cockpit takes up most of the space in the head. So it's around 2x the size of what is shown in that image.

  6. I still find it amazing how some close up shots of HMR (e.g. Saburo's) can make it look as good (or sometimes better) than the 1/60 version.

Looks like Sentinel finally had to design a new stand.

That is not a new stand. That's been around for years now with their bigger figures. I first got one of those with their Re:Edit Hulkbuster.

Wow. That's a lot of graphic stuff to superimpose on the scene to put into a video/gif. I'll see what I can do, Archie. I have to rewatch that scene to study it first. :good:

Edit: If it's possible, can you tell me the timestamp of that scene so it's easy to find. Thanks!

Hi no3ljm. Oh, sorry I didn't know it will take that much time and effort. It's okay if you don't want to do it. Also, I made a mistake. It's not from the 2nd movie but rather the final episode of the TV series (ep 25). It's around the 15:17 to 15:55 minute mark. Of course some of the scenes inbetween need to be edited out for a more concise video.

  9. I know this has been requested before, but can someone like no3ljm create a video of the scene from the 2nd Macross Frontier movie where the Vajra queen builds up and fires a super beam attack (Preorder Madness) at the Macross Frontier (Macross item) and it get blocked by all those smaller vajras and their shields (server error, cart jack, etc). When all the dust clears it ends in failure and cuts to a scene of some rage quit/table flipping/pc monitor punching dude.

  10. Hey if worse comes to worst, I hope they'll at least release Kakizaki and I'll be able to get him. Then at least I can get a mold of the 1A, then keep the rest of the 1/48 collection to just 1 of each type.

  11. I am down to my last resort and am trying to see if I can secure a preorder from a local shop. If that doesn't pan out, that might be it for me with regards to the 1/48 DX line. I've been able to secure every single Bandai DX release since I got into it with the first release YF-29 Durandal. And because of that I kinda felt obligated to continue getting them all for the collection. But if I am not gonna be able to get them all, that kills a lot of the motivation for me complete the line.

One thing about collectors like me. Sometimes it's all or nothing.

LOL Amazon Japan's preorder price is now pathetic.

They totally had the best deal for the VF-1J...now they think they can gauge the fans, and that isn't a second hand seller price too.

Actually the vendor in that Amazon link is Best Buy Online.

Got my copy today from amiami and I love it aside from the glaring flaw that the canopy section will not sink at all like the videos and instructions tell you to. It's like it is glued into place and no matter how hard or gently I apply pressure it wont sink. So i guess no battroid for me.

It does sink. Maybe your copy has an issue?

On the bright side, you're not missing out on much by not having battroid mode.

  14. After transforming mine for the first time, I must say that if the Japanese reviewer wasn't able to lock the chest firmly in place for battroid, then he was doing it wrong. It locks pretty solidly in place, though I can imagine someone accidentally missing the step where you push the top part of the chest forward after pressing it down over the cockpit.

P.S. - I still think battroid looks ugly

  15.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah, that did help some, though what I was originally worried about is the metal joints becoming loose over time, like what happened with the other DX Bandais.

Did anyone else's YF-19s come with gouges on the side of the waist? I was actually afraid that they were from my mishandling of the figure's waist joints and legs, but some of them seem to have been there already when I got the figure...

First time I've seen that. Though to be honest, that does look like something that would result from mishandling, especially when posing the legs and transforming it. But I think the amount of force needed to make those dents would have been significant.

  16. Got mine in.Shoulder joints are not as tight as I want, but they're not loose. It's taller than I expected, but that's mainly because I've learned to tone down my expectations whenever I get a big box from Bandai (e.g. SOC Full Action series).

After posing it a bit, it seems the ankles are a bit loose on mine too. Be careful if you have the same issue as a face plant might snap the horn off the head.
