Does anyone have one where the feet are left and right? Maybe they only have one part number for that and they use it on both sides (which isn't ideal).

The feet on mine are correct. I think I’m one of the few lucky ones with regards to that.

Anyone know if HLJ will examine products in the private warehouse before shipping out to check on these sorts of issues?  I'm not asking them to ship unless I can get one with the feet assembled correctly.

Not sure, but maybe they can. Arcadia boxes aren’t sealed anyway.

  3. I took a closer look at mine and at least the ankles are correct. I guess that's a good consolation from having some bad joints on mine.

So is the QC really poor on this release? Is this the level of QC that Mr. K said was one of the main justifications for the Arcadia pricing?

So what I did was to drip a tiny bit into the gaps around the pin joint (I circled the areas in black with the attachment). Move the joint around, wait a while, then do it again a few hours later. Check back the next day to see how the joint is doing. Repeat as necessary. Make sure to clean up the area around the joint since floor polish can leave the plastic shiny. I use a little alcohol to wipe the floor polish off from the surrounding areas. I use a syringe to access those hard to reach places. You can get syringes from Amazon.

Edit: probably a good idea to do this for all the joints that articulate the wings. Doesn't hurt the toy at all. It's a non-permanent solution, so you'll have to do this again as the polish will grind into dust with repeated use of the joint.

Thanks! The joint you showed in your picture is actually the loose wing joint I was talking about, so your guide was perfect. Now I need to buy some floor polish. I don't think super glue will work here. Any particular kind of floor polish I should use?

I used the floor polish fix to tighten it, and after waiting for it to dry, the polish seems to have hardened and tightened the joint.

May I ask how you applied the floor polish? I want to tighten my loose joints too but they use those hollow type pins and I don't know where to apply the usual super glue or polish.

Odd, the detent on mine is doing the job fine. Then again I haven't folded the wing out and back much, since it's sitting on my desk in battroid with the bum foot.

[Edit] Just bent the mid-wing hinges back and forth again, it's still very tight on mine, and I don't see it loosening up anytime soon. I actually need to hold both parts of the wing and apply force to get it to move.

The wing-root double hinges are even tighter. The only one that's not is the inboard most hinge that runs left/right, and that one has supports to keep it from flopping down.

Well I guess it boils down to QC inconsistencies. The right wing on mine is still tight. But again, since there’s no real locking mechanism for the wings, it mostly relies on the tightness of the joints.

It's not a tab, it's a soft-detent in the hinge itself, you can feel it kinda click into position when it's fully unfolded at the mid-wing joint.

Okay, so that’s what you were referring to. Unfortunately that detent is not good enough as there is still some play left which allows the wing to swing upwards around 10 degrees or so. So it doesn’t keep the wing from moving when the plane is flipped upside down. But on the positive note, that detent will prevent the wing from fully flipping up.

I pulled it out of the box a few minutes ago and partially transformed the wing checking for that detent you mentioned. And sadly, now the left wing is even looser afterwards. So just after 2 wings transformations, my left wing joint can’t even hold its place anymore. There is a lot of wobble in it now :(

I've got one very important question; if you turn it upside-down, will the wings stay in place?

One of my wings won't anymore after I transformed it once. It all depends on how tight your joints are since there are no locking tabs, a huge oversight on Arcadia's part to reengineer.

  9. Meh, my right wing has started to become floppy. If I turn it upside down, it flops. And this is without any ordinance connected. I assume it'll be much worse with stuff on. This is the exact same problem with the Yamato. Gosh, I feel like I was cheated by all the talk about improved engineering. This was definitely not worth the price and wait.

Any tips to tighten the hinge at the base of the wing? I remember trying to fix this on my Yamato too but had no luck.

  10. I tried transforming it, but only until Gerwalk then I decided it was not worth it. I transformed it back to fighter where it will stay for a long long time. The hinges all have very inconsistent tolerances/tightness, even for the same ones. For example, one of the shoulders could barely move that I thought it was glued by mistake, but on the other side it was pretty loose. I found this to be the same across multiple joints and hinges, especially in the wings. Add to the fact that these hinges are very small and mostly plastic, makes me feel that I might end up breaking/cracking something sooner or later. Moreover, after moving those hinges around for just one transformation, some of them have started to feel a lot looser than I would have liked (freely swinging). Definitely feels almost certain that this will become floppy rather quickly.

I remember people complaining a lot about the hinges in the Sv-262. Personally I never had much issue with those. But on this valk, it's on a whole other level.

In summary, it looks nice. But this is probably the worst 1/60 valk I have handled in a very long time. Also, the engineering is still very similar to the original Yamato. I don't know why Mr. K says otherwise, but in my opinion the engineering is 90% similar to the old version. They just added a few minor things like the nose tab, and the opening fan, double joints in the knees and elbows. But they took away some useful things too like the wing locking tab. And the ankles are the same design from more than a decade ago (in other words, crap ankles).

Pretty disappointed. I was really hoping that this would make me feel better since I wasn't too happy with the VF-31 Armor parts either, but I guess not.

  11. I just opened mine and did a preliminary QC check. Things look okay so far, but haven't really transformed it or put it through its paces yet.

I do think the wing design is a significant step back though. For some reason, Arcadia didn't bother putting a single locking tab on them. I thought the floppy wings were the most problematic area of the Yamato, so I'm baffled why they chose not just to leave it as before, but even removed the old locking tab. I can definitely see this becoming floppy in the future, making it undisplayable in fighter mode.

You mean like a small, under-funded outfit in a backwoods part of the galaxy might have to slap something together out of necessity in a pinch..?

I didn't watch the movie so I don't know the circumstances behind it. But if it was indeed just hastily put together from existing parts, then why were they able to standardize the layout, and even equip cannon fodder units? None of the parts look like they came from any other unit either.

As compared to something like let's say, Full Armor Unicorn. You can really see that it was indeed just put together among existing weapon systems and just tacked onto the Unicorn Gundam.

  13. So now that I had a chance to put the armor parts on, I can definitely say that the Armored VF-25S is still the best looking one in fighter mode. The Armored VF-31S Fighter looks just plain... ugly. And no, it has nothing to do with the colors. It doesn't look streamlined at all and the parts don't flow smoothly into one another. The back looks especially terrible. Makes it really seem like this design was an afterthought rather than planned from the start.

Shame since I always display my valks in fighter mode.

There are some 3P KO Transformers available now too but they look like crap...definitely not LEK quality paint designs.

I disagree. This OS Grimlock has one of the best cel shading I've ever seen on a toy. It doesn't even look 3D anymore IMO. And it's not that expensive and is mass-produced.

I was charged by CDJpaan last week.

Looks like NY has started asking for payment as well. Guess it won't be delayed after all. Well at least the RIOBOT Yellow from MOSPEADA got delayed to next month, so good enough for me.

  16. Has anyone had the chance to disassemble or see the mechanism inside the knee joint of the 31? I seem to have a problem with my 31E wherein the left knee doesn't collapse completey all the way. There's like a 1mm gap between the upper and lower leg. I can't seem to figure out what's holding it back. I'm wondering if there was some excess plastic somewhere inside the sliding mechanism.

This is the first time any of my 31s have had this issue. It's minor but it does annoy the OC part of me because it's not symmetrical where it's supposed to be.

  17. After having them all in hand, I can confidently say that Messer's valk is definitely the ugliest in battroid. It also doesn't look like it fits in with the rest of the group's style.

Nice. Another PO for the Eva-02 for those who missed it. ;)

This is the second time they did that on Metal Build Evangelion. How come they don't do that on DX Macross? They open a second batch PO for the SSP and not for the VF-1S Valkyrie. :unknw:

I hope I can get one this time around. Or at least I hope that even if I miss it again, the markup later on won't be as high as it is now.

Maybe I should try asking N-Y if they can disable the Pay Later option for the 2nd batch of preorders hehe
