  1. dyowelb,

I can get wave joints here (2.34 a bag) or the Kotobukiya joints (2.00 a bag) as referenced by Andy Wacht's Legioss custom writeup. I just picked up a few sets to modify my Legioss. Other sizes are available.

If you can't find any in the states, I'll send you some for the price of the joints, envelope and stamps. But shipping might be ~ 5-8 USD from here. I have to double check.

    Good luck on your project.

  2. Have you considered ball joints or even ratchet joints like the Yamato 1/48s? I have no idea where one can find the latter though.

The model should be light enough that plastic ball joints would be able to hold the positions you want. Plus you get some extra posing possibilities.

  3. Yellow Submarine made a 1/4000 resin kit that was incredibly detailed. It was not that big (less than 10" from head to toe, NOT counting the cannons which adds around 4-5") and would be a nice addition to any collection.

If Yamato could keep the same size, same detail, and add transformation to enable between fortress and storm attacker mode, I would buy it in a heartbeat! Actually, the toy better be cheaper than the resin kit

You don't need big to impressive, you need details. But bigger can be better. :D

  4. I would get the regular VF-1S or VF-1J or VF-1As if you want to build strike or super without the FPs. It would be a tad cheaper on the wallet.

Now I wondery why won't hasegawa release a Strike or Super Battroid with all 3 heads instead of forcing us to buy 2 kits to build a Super or Strike VF-1J!

    Grr...

  5. Fantastic Work!

Q: When you preshaded in black, and sprayed the main colour over, did you spray around the panel lines or did you spray over the whole model and built up more paint in the center of each panel? I assume you spray away from the panel lines towards the centers of the panels.

The preshading makes the panel line look like a shadow is under the brown paint. I love the overall look but don't know the process so thanks for any help.

Yamato should send their prototypes to you for painting before finalizing on production paint schemas. :D

  6. While looking at my Hasegawa VF-1S Valkyrie and Imai Legioss today, I noticed how nice the Imai kit was for being almost 20 years old.

Has anyone here also owned same scale valkyrie kits and compared the quality between manufacturers? I love the detail of Hasegawas and may want to pickup an Imai variable or Bandai 1/72 to compare and use as a basis to make the Hasegawa a variable kit since both of those brands are relatively cheap(er) due to the availability of them, especially the Bandai re-issues.

I should mention comparing Battroids but quality is quality in any case.

  7. This sounds like a rocking good time but I also miss my family back home... Such a dilema.

    Miss mommy?

I've spent Christmas with my family for each year of my life and yes, I will miss them and the rest of my relatives (big family) if I stay here. Hard to break tradition ya know?

But I do have my VF-1S and VF-1J FP equiped to sing xmas jingles with. :D

  8. Totenkupf,

    Thanks for the pics!

So the main process consisted of a pre-shade, color detail, base colour coat, then decal and wash? Did you primer the kit prior to anything? Did you also seal the kit with a finish of some sort? I couldn't tell since your detailing and panel lines are so incredible. The more I see the works of art here, the more I think I need to invest in an airbrush.

  9. To fix your drive letter problem, goto Control Panel | System Tools | Disk Manager or something like that. I'm going off the top of my head here.

Then right click on each drive with the mixed up letters and re-letter them. Start with the F drive, set it back to E, then set the G drive back to F.

If you already have another drive named E for some reason (PC Engine Fack CD?), then set that drive to H or something high up on the alphabet to free up the letter E, then set your drives back accordingly. I haven't tested Macross 2036 on this computer yet so cannot offer you a better suggestion. Try your favorite file sharing program for a better emulator.

    Good luck.

  10. I was looking, drooling and painstakingly walking away from those beautiful yet expensive (I hate ebay) IMAI 1/48 Mospeada Variable Legioss Kits until yesterday where I stumbled across this kit. I nabbed it quick! Trash or Treasure?

  12. You make it hard for us non 1/60 collectors with your picture. I'm praying on a star that Yamato will release M&M VF-1Js and GBP Armor for us 1/48 guys.

Very nice pictures and what kind of Destroids are those? The old EXO squad toy line?
