  1. Is there going to be a MW mob there to greet Robocon 20? Someone take pictures of the bloodshed! <snickers>
  2. Nice intro, good fighting scenes in the town center, a lot of matrix effects ... , no story... , and ending was a let down. Funny if you understand Chinese (and Cantonese) culture! A lot of the local jokes gets lost during the translation to Mandarin and English. Shaolin Soccer had a better story and was definately funnier. B+
  3. That's not a custom. It's the Q-Rau from Macross 7, I THINK one of Mylene's sisters. Its 1/144 scale but I forgot who made it. Its pops up now and then. You can check the recast shops for it.
  4. Act this point, I would not mind minor swapping for near "Perfect Variable" and line art accuracy. I want that PV VF-0S almost as bad as the 1/72 scale and up PV YF-19 and VF-4G Lightning. Yamato will probably have to do this for the upcoming GPB Armor for the 1/48s anyways, either remove the nose cone or extend the groin armor. Otherwise, the GBP would not be lineart accurate. But I rather Yamato just can the 1/100 and move up to 1/72 or bigger. The bigger is better mantra heard from many of us would increase working realestate and allow Yamato to not comprimise on so much. If they wanted to ride the M0 wagon while its hot, get re-working on that 1/100 NOW for mid-level enthusiants , followed by the holy grail 1/48 no comprimise version. There is no reason they cannot recoup cost through amortizing between S, A, and B versions. The D version will need some new parts but most are nearly the same. The most disturbing trend for me is seeing the move to 1/100 scale for all new (non DYRL) Macross products. While the rest of world is scaling up (Dragon models, BBI, Hell even Gundam with the PG Seed Line), Yamato seems to be taking a step back. I hope this is only limited to initial smaller size "mass" market versions and Yamato will continue their tradition in making larger scale premium products but at better prices.
  5. Methinks we should have a poll here so we can send this off to Yamato for QC reported problems. I know the Xmas season puts big pressure on the factories but damn, QC is starting to get as good as Toynami's. For those who have both 2nd and 3rd-issues, did you find problems with both or one of the other? On all of my customs (~ 10 2nd issues), I only had one QC problem reported by one customer out of the box.

    Official Toy Colors

Actually, it does matter to me, otherwise I wouldn't have asked! Perhaps customizers and model guys like Jung, Kurt, and Grayson72 can help out.

    YF-19

I have to agree, nice kit but Battroid is still er... for me. And it has been done in 1/72 with nearly perfect proportions (customized Hasegawa model). I would do a 1:1 trade with a Strike Low Vis 1/48 for this right now (June 2002 Model Graphix):

    Mac 2 monster

Err... you wouldn't think any store or warehouse would mark up to cover their shipping cost on that thing? HK dealers can ship by surface mail (sea shipping) to reduce your overall cost. Just buy insurance due to the extra handling, longer and rougher voyage to you.

    Official Toy Colors

I was comparing the toy colors from various makers and one thing I noticed (to my eyes) were the variations. For example, which one of these have the correct and official color schemes for the TV Cannon Fodder: Yamato 1/60 CF VF-1A - light brown? Yamato 1/60 CF VF-1A TRU Edition - darker brown? Bandai / Takatoku 1/55 CF VF-1A - dark brown? What about the DYRL CF? And what is the exact color for the Kakizaki TV version? It is the inverse of one of the above, or Toynami's version which looks like light tan or is a different shade altogether? What is the exact grey color for the TV Fast Packs? I can't find any reference for these. I would appreciate it if anyone can suggest paint codes for TV, DRYL CF, TV Kakizaki and TV FP colors.

    Mac 2 monster

As has been said already, the "Mac 2" in question is the original land based dreadnaught from the SDF Macross, and not from Macross II. Be that as it may, there was a very short appearance of a new Mac 2 in "Lovers again"...see picture: This looks good to me! I'll take one at 1/72 or 1/48 scale.
  11. Looking good. How about a 1600x1200 version? Yeh, my desktop is pretty big.

    Mac 2 monster

I wouldn't worry about metal ore pricing. Oil prices has taken a toll on plastic resin lately but that is all pure BS anyways considering there are multiple factors in toy production. Most of it in reality are excuses to drive up material costs. I really do hope the Monster will come out but when the YEN is weaker and when oil price excuses goes back down.
  13. Graham, You can store your Macross collection at my place until your done with the raping and pillaging. You never know when you want your precious' back again.
  14. To get rid of the factory paint, you have a few options: 1) Rub the paint off with a buffing compound. Brasso metal polish has been proven to work from fellow MW'ers. 2) Use a mild solvent paint remover. I tried all kinds of this stuff including Castrol Super Clean and didn't remove jack. Do a search for this... 3) Sand down the symbols SLIGHTLY (600 grit or higher) to flatten the paint then, repaint the whole valkyrie with primer or Mr Surfacer (folks here use Mr. Surfacer 1000 and 1200) Then repaint the whole valkyrie. My experience is from 1/48 modding. Haven't tried these steps for 1/55s, 1/60s or other Valkyries but good luck.
  15. I am so going to download this once I get home!
  16. I have the original kit (LOVE THIS KIT) and would love some more battle pods too. Hell, re-cast the WHOLE VF-2SS so I can have a full squadron!
  17. I just got back from my company xmas dinner (first time in 4 fricking years!) and picked up BOTH of my 1/6 scale WF Sniper Wolf Resin kit and 1/6 scale Mediacom Snake Eater figure. Supposedly limited to 1000 pieces. I will edit this post with a review soon and wanted to know if anybody got theirs? Quick review: Nice face sculpt - Better than Yamato's / Konami's old MGS Solid Snake figure but not as detailed or "perfect" as the WF 1/6 Resin kit. Suit looks pretty good. Nice fitting without a lot of bunching up, but I need to crack the box open to check. Includes 2 right hands - fist and trigger hand, 3 left hands - fist, trigger and two handed weapon cradle hand. Colt 1911 suppressed ? No heavy weapons of any kind. I guess I can re-cast my WF FAMAS or pickup other 1/6 12" guns. Who makes the best guns (detail and scale) anyways? Any recommendations? 2 CQB Knifes - one on the left shoulder / chest area and one on right boot. I will post pics after tomorrow. Got a big meeting and need some sleep. On a side note, I asked to buy a second one for a fellow MW and the shop gal told me it went up over 50 USD on top of my pre-ordered one! It cost almost as much as a Low Viz and definately MORE than a Strike or Super VF-1x setup! Crazy... Was it worth it? More details to follow...

    Latest custom 1/48

Best Hikaru Custom! How about some full size hires shots for wall papers?
  19. I work off my dining room (living room) table. I should be working out of my modeling / computer / office room but thats used by visiting occupants at this moment. For the spray jobs, I take my stuff to the stairs / trash room behind my flat and go to town at night. My spray booth is not fully setup yet but its getting there. The price I pay to live in a small cramp ass apartment. I miss my big US home.
  20. OK call me ignorant but why all the hate for Carl Macek? Is it because he took 3 different anime series and cobbled a story to string it all together? Despite the opinion if it was good or bad, it still made history in terms of outside of Japan anime awareness. Hell, I saw that the whole damn show on TV show and it was my first intro to Macross. And this Bankofkev guy... Who da f*ck is he? I just visited that blog and it was a riot. Like watching a re-run handyman episode from In Living Color. Not fanning the flames or stirring the pot but the hating here is thick sometimes. I guess it wouldn't be MW without the it.
  21. Hi all, All of my stock has been sold out and one thing I noticed right away was the way the Yamato boxes were put together. The flaps were not always inserted properly or inserted at all. Its OK if nothing is wrong but my batch were definately rushed and pushed in while misaligned, resulting in some bent tabs. I'm very sorry to hear of crooked skulls, crooked seats, and loose panels. I shipped almost everything out as fast as they were paid for but never had a chance to open one for a look see. For those of you who ordered from the states, please check your packaging and the contents. I know my batches definately had QC issues since the outer box was fine shipped over from Japan. Big sigh... I'll be talking to my source about this and see if the feedback will get through to someone so Yamato can improve their QC issues before any more toys slip out.
  22. Looking really good there Daysleeper! Post some Battroid, Gerwalk and bigger pictures! In the toy forum too! Greak work!
  23. Anybody else order parts from HLJ? How long does it take to usually? The 3rd-issue VF-1S here sold out so fast, I was not able to get any for parts. There is demand for a 4th-issue from what I'm told so hopefully that will happen within the next 2-3 months. SDFCommander, I don't have ANY valkyrie to strip for parts this point since its completely sold out (again). If someone has any spare parts, please browse through the list and offer them up for fellow MW'ers.
  24. Scale kills me too... 1/72 and 1/48 is where I'm at and want everything Macross to fall on those two points. Now if Hasegawa came along and did 1/35 (military scale), then I need to sell my 1/48s and up-scale to that!
  25. Congrats on the new addition! Lets see some more posesses with the rest of the squardron.
