  1. Oh my god. New Mikimoto art book. Damn him! His work is now too damn good. How can I compete with that? Absolutely awesome.
  2. Too vague a question. Kawamori was in the show many times, and killed as often as he appeared. He was blown away by Hikaru's thrust near the end of the first episode.
  3. M7 -- Best characters, best music, best story. Enough reasons for ya?
  4. oh man, please start again!!! Dude, I'm not even being funny now... Those stories are so booorriiinng.... But I guess I can have another go... HHhhhmmmm....
  5. I did start to do translations of those when people asked ages ago... but I never got round to finishing... Aaaaauuuughh...... <_
  6. Matsuda Seiko's daughter, Sayaka, has also recently popped into the limelight over in Japan.
  7. SDF Macross and Macross 7 equally. M7 rocks, and SDF just kicks ass, it has this really cool attitude, you can feel it when you hear the first strains of "Dogfighter". DYRL is cool because it is SDF Mac on drugs. I saw Macross II again recently, and I am sorry, it is the biggest pile of.... Err, well, anyway, I had forgotten how much I didn't like it.
  8. Not sure about this one, but the cafe was called "Variation", and I think the game centre was called "Battroid Attack Game Centre"...
  9. Yeah, that set has been out for ages now. All the OVAs and the movie (in its crappy hard-subbed, VHS-transfer incarnation) together for the price of one DVD. If Manga over in the US wants to release an improved movie edition, then I'd understand, but the delay makes no sense if they're just gonna bring out the same crap again. Unless the evil HG is involved... <_<
  10. It looks pretty cool. It appears to be an attempt to bring Macross back into the limelight. It contains strategy tips for the PS2 game, but also it's got lots of stuff on all the series, mostly concentrating on the original. You're right, it's not gonna provide too much for us MWers, but I know at least one "beginner" person whom I can recommend it to. It's relatively cheap, too. Good stuff.
  11. Okinawa or Yokohama No definately Okinawa Is that your final answer?
  12. Whoah!!! Yeah, they got the labelling for #2 and #3 mixed up. #2 Refers to Mac+ Movie Edition #3 actually refers to Mac7, but #4 refers to the cancelled Hollywood Final Outpost movie. According to the article is was supposed to be based on DYRL after all. It is supposed to be the biggest project of all, and having completed the first draft, at the time of writing, some writers in the US were following up with a second draft. But apparently, since the project was still in the "preparation" stages, the key to its realisation lay in the success of the other projects, i.e. M7, M+, etc. So... Does this mean that the whole reason for existence of the series and movies we got in 94/95 was so that Final Outpost could get made? If so... did they fail? Or was it more to do with the recession, etc... I guess it could be a result of too many factors to speculate. Oh, and yes, the Valks are from the SNES game, they made some animated CG for the TV ad and promos. Kinda cool.
  13. Yoshi!! Hey, if you want a hand, I can help you out with the translations of stuff.
  14. Next question: Ichirou Itano and Shouji Kawamori hit it off really well when they first met because they had something in common. Itano, Kawamori and one of the main SDF Macross characters all share the same home region within Japan. Name it.
  15. Wrong. Time up. The correct answer was... 1) True -- The seiyuu in question was Urara Takano . 2) False. 3) True -- The late, great Arihiro Hase. His role as Bobby was an in-joke: as we know, Bobby was to play the role of Hikaru in the "Lynn Minmay Story" dramatisation in Macross 7. 4) False -- Because Dr. Chiba is the odd-one out. Both Gigil and Yang are played by Tomohiro Nishimura. So it is actually "2/3 true". 5) False -- Again, only 2/3 true: Gavil and Physica are both played by Akio Suyama, but not Edgar. 6) True.
  16. OK, check this -- Straightforward "True or False?". 1) Veffidas Feaze (M7), Akiko Hojo (M7) and Kate Masseau (M+) are all played by the same voice actress. 2) Miho Miho (M7), Shamii Milliome (SDF-M) and the Flower Girl (M7) are played by the same voice actress. 3) Bobby (M7), Goram (M7) and Hikaru Ichijou (SDF-M) are all played by the same voice actor. 4) Gigil (M7), Dr. Chiba (M7) and Yang Neumann (M+) are played by the same voice actor. 5) Physica Fulcrum (M7), Edgar LaSalle (M0) and Gavil (M7) are played by the same voice actor. 6) Max Jenius (M7), Max Jenius (SDF-M), and Marje Gueldoa (M+) are played by the same voice actor. Enjoy!
  17. The fact that she had composed her own song and sang it at the audition. The song was "Cinderella". Do I get extra points for mentioning that it features in episode 4 of the TV show, in the movie, in FlashBack 2012 and is a track on Mari's second album, Blanche? Or do I just get branded a geek?
  18. Welcome back Renato. Haven't seen you around MW in ages. Graham Hey there, Mr. Cage. How's life? Glad you survived the SARS epidemic. Although if you hadn't, you know you could trust me to have given a loving home to your orphaned Yamatos... Feels weird being back.... Suddenly all these Newtypes outrank me...
  19. WTF are you talking about ? The only bit of Fan Service shown so far was during Sara³Ò ritual , and for that matter that isn³Ó any worse than Minmay Shower scene in the original series , which to my knowledge is supposed to be the only series no one dares to talk BS about. Mao hasn³Ó even got a real relevance within M0 (yet) and you expect Kawamori san to use her for FS ? I would like to know what you³Ñe smoking cause it seems to cause a bit of Paranoia. You expect every new character designer that works in a Macross series to copy Mikimoto³Ò work so you can have a badly animated 20 years old design being used in a 2003 OVA series ? I agree that Mikimoto³Ò involvement in a new Macross production would be more than welcome but if it³Ò only to recreate something they did 20 years ago then I say spare the man´´s time let him do something more relevant , for him and for us as well. Face it , Macross can have grace even without Mikimoto and that was comfirmed by M+ a long time ago , I really don³Ó know where this elitist approach to macross character designers comes from. Are all those people gonna freak out everytime Mikimoto doesn³Ó participate in a Macross series from now on ? that³Ò just ridiculous. Huh? Dude, I never mentioned fan service. I was talking about the character's appearances relative to their ages. Mao does not look eleven, and Sara does not look sixteen to me. And Roy does not look like Roy, that's all I meant. Call me a HAL elitist if you want, but I still have to see work as beautiful as his. Oh, and by the way, having said all that about MacZero, I think the Macross Plus designs are even worse, except maybe Sharon herself.
  20. Wow, I thought my suggestion to do this would go ignored. Anyway, it's Mainichi Housou. Although, if you mean what channel aired it, I think it was TBS, not sure on that one...
  21. Yaaawn. Hey, somebody ought to start up a Macross trivia thread in the movies&series forum. Make things a bit more interesting.
  22. 1/72= 3 1/60= 3 1/48= 0
  23. The quality of the visuals in some of the episodes is often determined by who drew the keyframes. In many episodes it was Kawamori, Itano (for mecha scenes), and Mikimoto (for character scenes) themselves. However, in others the keyframe artists are uncredited, with only the name "StarPro" shown. These are the trouble makers, not AnimeFriend. AnimeFriend just help out with the production in much the same way as Tatsunoko. They even worked on the movie, too. So don't blame them, blame StarPro for ugly Misas and whatnot!
