I just received a phone call from a lady at ishop2go, who spoke pretty good English. She was very apologetic that there were not able to fulfil my order. She said they only received 10pcs of VF-171EX from Bandai, but actually had over 300 orders from customers.
Anyway, they offered me the choice of a refund or 20% off any Yamato item in stock.
I took the refund.

Yeah, HLJ has done that in the past. They might not open it up entirely until they have a solid number on the stock they will receive.
I wonder if they're monitoring traffic to the pages to get an estimate of interest... if so, I'll gladly mash my F5 key to oblivion if it means we'll get a larger scale release.

Yeah. Looks like factory-defect to me.
You'll need to return them to that shop. Send them an email right away, with the pics.
On their website, they state:
not sure who's gonna eat the shipping-cost for the return, tho.
