  1. Heck, look at it from a business standpoint and not a consumer standpoint 1st very few moving parts, ,,,,very few parts period 2nd easy assembly from a manufacturing standpoint (easy to package and onlt a few hatches and such) 3rd customers going to want one for every damn $130 1/48 they have allready, lets charge them 75% of the price of the VF-1 and sell em like hot cakes,,,hell were the only guys on the block and we have the most detailed VF-1, not to mention biggest <_< WIN WIN WIN all the way around, i cant see why they wouldnt make it

    Whats worth getting?

I like my MPC's,,,yes, i like the yamato's 1/48 better, but i see it this way. I showed my finacee (hehe) both the Bandai and the MPC's, SHE likes the MPC's way better, she herself said it looks nicer and closer to the anime (non bias'd opinion) Some people are going to hang me for this, but she thought she liked it better than the 1/48 UNTILL i showed her the detail and extras of the design and function (exspecially of the legs). So her favorite is the 1/48, second is the MPC, and third she liked the bandai, but liked it for the indestructableness (my new word) I wouldnt pay more than $50 for the MPC's and $70 for all the armors shipped, so cost wise the MPC's arnt too bad, I think they pose fairly well, exspecially in gerwalk mode and so do most people with a non biased opinion. MY 10 cents
  3. Drifand is right, due to the length of the 1/48's nosecone the groin armor on the GBP would need to be disproportionaly long. However, I was thinking about this and what if you had to remove the nosecone first before attaching the groin armor. While not anime accurate, it would certainly reduce the length of the GBP groin armor. What do you all think, would you accept having to remove the nosecone to attach the armor or not? Personally, if it gave better looking armor I don't think it would bother me at all. Graham Thats what I said, Heck, Its covering it anyway,,,,,,,,,,dam it, anyone live close to Graham that can ??hipmotize?? him <_< I vote for remove the nosecone, hey, you cant remove the cone on the 1/60 can you HINT HINT
  4. Interesting Avatar...now I am going to have muppet nightmares.. I think it will be 1/60 scale first...like a testing of the waters thing. But then again they did the Fast-Pack thing in 1/48 soooo. Only Graham knows AS for the avatar, I saw it on an offroad forum and allmost wet myself, a bunch of guys here are ussing it on thier fantasy football. I hope it at least gets a few laughs, even though its pretty sick <_< I had another thought on the GBP 1/48, since the nosecone would posibly be a problem. Maybe thats why the front part of the nose cone is removable?? I really would like to see something like that in 1/48, everything would open and be detailed so nicely mmm mmm good
  5. Wouldn't that just piss ya off (sorry 1/60 owners) I'll bet thats what they are going to do
  6. Does anyone have any of those morphers (alpha) and are they better than the VF-1's (morphers)
  7. He's in hang glider mode,,ya know the "H" lever <_
  8. Yeah Ladic, I love it when ya post, You should have her as a signature at the bottom of all your posts Anyway, I'm definatly getting all that toynami has to offer in the alphas (betas and whatever they want to offer) Anyway, i got a hell oof a deal on the VF-1's soo, I think thiese are going to sell way better and I dont think the price will drop much unless the production numbers are high,,,,
  9. DUDE, no wonder everyones sold out I plans on maybe a couple sets
  10. I really hate to say this, but look at trying to get a volume one, they are going for more than what they were new. Its just a flooded market right now, supply and demand. I just bought the last Max from planet anime for $40 and i bought a milliya for $40 too. Watch the prices start going back up once the stores are out and you need to fill your collection, I'm going to try to get all of them, along with the 1/48 lineup (becides, the 1/48 legioss/alpha models i got will go nicely with'em
  11. The 1/48 is the best thing since sliced bread,,,,,,even though I think they couldve done better I havent even seen a 1/60, and have no interest,,I need more hobby cash
  12. Pfunk, it seems your post is mostly just your opinions of the toy and not legitimate 'what is wrong' complaints. 1) That the head laser is too long is your opinion. It certainly does not qualify as a 'What's wrong with.....' topic. Likewise, getting the head laser caught and stressing it is a user error. The 1/48 VF-1A head laser is actually very easy to clear through the hatch when transforming. 2) The purpose of having the second fin a moving peice is to allow the backpack to sit flatter (lower) in Gerwalk mode. It is a clever design feature, certainly not 'stupid'. 3) The 1/48 is designed to look best in fighter mode, thus the nose is longer than how it appears in the anime in Battroid mode. However, the anime uses anime magic to shrink parts so unless you go the Bandai route and have a short stubby inaccurate nose, it is impossible to have a nose which is lineart accurate in all three modes. 4) Transformation will become quicker with familiarity. What a lot of people don't seem to be able to grasp is that the more points of articulation a toy has, the longer it will take to transform. If the Yamato had the same limited articulation it would be just as quick as the Bandai. What it boils down to is is that everything is a compromise. If you want greater articulation and more features, then you have to suffer slightly slower transformation times. If you want quick easy transformation, but limited articulation, then buy a Bandai. 5) having the hands removable gives the option of adding optional hand sets ala the 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru. Anyway, the 1/48 hands do not fall out easily so what is wrong with this feature? Graham OK, I'll clarify a little more, hear me out 1st) the reason I called that 2nd fin piece stupid was for the pure fact of fit and finish (a good example is take a look at a lexus then go into my GMC truck, They use tighter lines and gaps, robust designs and styling q's that hide flaws. They produce up too 70,000 a year (unless your VW, they produce up to 500,000/yr) Ive been a designer for almost 15yrs and have valid opionions, as so does everyone (maybe I shouldnt have said stupid, maybe something like The design of the second fin should, IMO, have been maybe spring loaded/bound with a tighter attachment feature and cleaner molding lines (maybe a higher tonnage press or longer injection times (to get a better fit and finish)) 2nd) IMO, The hands are sloppy and in my instance they fall out too easily and is limp wristed. Putting a snap feature or positivly attaching via small screw would have been a better design and could have still been concealed with the backing plate that can be removed and undone,,,,IMHO C) I think the head laser is too long, in looks as in function and is easily damaged when transforming D) I agree about the styling in fighter mode, but i still think the batloid mode is too thick in the chestplate and i think if it was thinned, the fighter mode wouldnt suffer that much at all, maybe look sleeker, again opionion E)This is not to be construed as an attack on Yamato, merly a critic,,anything can allways be better, this is what creates a better product Legitimate problems for this thread would be 1) loose hands that fall out 2) Antenna is too long and hard to get trough (maybe thiers sommething im missing, but i do put it through the back "hatch" 3) and that little fin was off when i got it, and i had to put it back on, it doent give a good snap when installed Sorry all, if i put a little too much critic in a thread about manufacturing flaws and such, I just get a little upset when they should have released the product later to get all the manufacturing flaws ironed out, same with automobiles, never buy the 1st production run
  13. OK- macross/robotech related - 142.50 on a pretty mint alpha Since everyones bragging about thier car and stuff - $98,000 on a spare house to make profit and $28,000 to fix it up, oh, 3yrs ago $42,000 on a laundromatt, and uh 32,000 on a 1996 LT-4 vette convetable collectors edition and 9yrs ago, my house $92,000 and now Im looking at purchasing a very large bridge in Arizona <_< ........JK folks Lets keep it somwhat macross related, i have a hard time spending more than $200 on a single toy though, I wish I was that diehard, i felt sick to my stomach purchasing the alpha Or how about one time money lost $50,000 on laundromatt (went under and took part of me with it) $8,000 on vette (sold this year) $3,500 for replacement motor and trans in old truck ( a lot faster though) $30,000 + on damn taxes every year, still take US taxes over other countries though
  14. Just got my Low Vis yesterday, i do have a few gripes 1) head laser waaayyyy to long (not to mention the head looks small) and i got it caught in the back area when transforming and got a stress mark, so i trimmed it back about 3MM and am going to drill it out and paint it 2) That second little fin on the area that holds the backpack in gerwalk mode is a stupid loose piece and should be molded in 3) Is it me or does the nose of the plane look a little big 4) Takes to long to transform, i wish it was easy as the bandai's, but the sculpt and detail are EXCEPTIONAL 5) Oh, and the hands can be taken off, they should have been screwwed in or positivly attached, My 50 cents <_<
  15. For $500, I think they wouldve sold. I know some people cant put thier money whare thier mouth is. He wouldve made $25,000 if he sold 50 of them, not a bad income for what i consider a hobby. Off topic, but my buddy works for a hobby rocketry place and some of the rockets cost upwards of $30,000 and they dont guaranty recovery or explosion. They cost on average $2,000-$3,000 for each launch for the big ones,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,now thats an expensive hobby I'm into high power model rocketry big time. The hobby isn't THAT expensive. B) custom stuff for rich guys is , ive seen $2000 worth of carbon fiber and weeks of work go into thiese things, just on the body

  18. Ah, so "they" stopped the project,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the question is, is it a basement project,,,YET ,,,,Damn, i remember looking at the progress of that thing and checking in every week before i joined the forums.
  19. OK, ive looked, I cant find the reason John M.'s Legioss project was cancelled, I hope it wasnt lisencing issues
  20. That's what I thought!! Is it just me, or does that one Invid have boobies? Vostok 7 Lemme guess, someone hasnt gotten action in a while <_< That game looks pretty good graphics wise, does anyone remember playing pitfall on atari2600, that was the best game out at the time.......how about baseball on intellivision, guess im old school.
  21. Well, lets start the thread on the customization of the VF-2ss Bandai/B-club kits. 1) problems to get perfect transformation a)Movable wings (cutting in half is easy, has anyone mounted/hinged them yet) looking at the model, thiers parts that run throught that area, i havent patterned them out yet, but will you have to cut out too much of the wing to clear the arm mounts. I remember justvinnie said he had some patterns made
  22. cool another car nut, I had a s-10 v8 5speed (got rearended) building an extreme s10 v8 5speed,,,, Macross, of course, my SDF-1 from when i was a kid, i just need the parts to repair it,,,,,,,help
  23. its just like the apple jack's commercial,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we just do
  24. do a wash, itll look better then a pen line, plus you can mix the perfect color, i use a little bit of the base color, and they turn out very nice
  25. I guess we just have to wait and see. Only about a week or so now to go. Yamato have told me it is safe to use the clip, but I don't believe them Don't forget, the 1/48 FAST packs are going to come with that optional extrawhite plastic part, which attaches behind the back hatch. Yamato say that this is a dual function part. Firstly, it adds a bit of extra detail to that area and secondly, it is supposed to add a bit of reinforcement. However, that part can only be used in Battroid mode and has to be removed for transformation to Fighter or Gerwalk. Graham ....s unds scary....... Yeah, I have a low vis on the way and I dont want a $100 P.O.S., Im waiting to see from the other members and how thiers fair
