  1. Both kits are fine. There's a lot of dismay at the build quality, I don't understand it unless the population of this board is substantially younger than you'd expect from a bunch of Macross fans. :p

Sure, standards have improved these days, but if you can handle a tube of putty, a square of wet-and-dry and an airbrush, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the heads-up! Now, to figure out who'll be getting them in online....and when >___> <___< Assuming HLJ...

  2. I think I may try and get a Monster and maybe a Regult the monster just for old times sake and the Regult due to my missing getting Mr Moscato's rendition, everything else I am more than happy with my Moscato versions so unless John hasnt made it I wont bother.

Part of what interests me is the Pain in the Ass build quality, makes it more of a challenge IMO.

I am then only really bothered about the SDF 1/5000 as I have nothing of the SDF1.

WAY back in the day, I remember owning the Imai 1/72 Destroid Spartan, never could get my hands on the 1/72 Defender. Never got around to the Spartan before losing it in a most unfortunate plumbing related accident, LOL - so these reissues will be welcome. Now the question: proportionally and detail wise, the Spartan SEEMED like it was pretty decent, hopefully the fit isn't a total PITA, has anyone here actually ever built it? Or can comment on poportions, etc. of the Defender?

  3. Yup, the last of the kits went out last week so it's just a matter of time now.

Cobywan: glad you like the kit. It might be a bit of a PITA to clean up though.

Hey Cap, got mine yesterday and it's just...amazing! :D No clue how you managed to pack so much detail into the intakes, exhausts, and gear bays, but....THUMBSUP!

  4. Hey Everyone! been really busy lately and I finally broke down and modeled some of the Macross ground vehicles in 3D. I am in the process of having these 3d printed in 1/100 scale for myself, but it would be very easy to convedrt these to 1/72, 1/60, or any scale desired. I will post pics of the models when I get them But for now I'm just gauging interest to see if anyone else would be interested in a set or individual vehicles. Let me know your thoughts and ideas. More will definately be on the way but here are the vehicles I have for now:

    The M299 Jeep:

    The XM3002 Low Gravity Vehicle:

    A civilian car:

    And the Tow tractor:

I have more coming, but here is the first taste, let me know what you guys think!

Awesome! :D Definately interested, 1/100 and especially 1/72 for a Macross City warzone diorama I'm planning XD

  5. And this one is the 2nd smallest of the capital ships. After this they get big fast going from 40cm to 60cm and finally 80cm.

Can't wait for the eventual 40cm Thuverl Salan. Oh wait, CAN wait, need another model display case first :p

Also, second the Meltran idea, especially Millia 639's Meltran Gun Destroyer from DYRL :D. Only problem, you couldn't use cucumbers, gourds, or baguettes for those :(

  6. I think 1/5000 is optimal for an unique scale: We are talking about a 60 cms Queleual, a 54 cms Magdomilla, a 46 cms Salan, and a 80 cms Vergnitzs!!ohmy.gif (that if Captain are planning to make the entire fleet!!) happy.gif

    As a bonus, there will be a 1/5000 quel-quallie? (2.5 cms)rolleyes.gif

Totally agreed! :D I'm in for one of the Qualamitz in both scales, if you make 'em, or one of the 1/5000 scale regardless. The dramatic scene where one makes a missile and mega-particle run was breathtaking (see crappy quality pic below). And, any other space cucumber or ARMD *hinthinthint* that you may make in the future :)

  7. I'm dreaming of doing a diorama of a Cat's Eye parked next to a Green Arrows Super Valk in the ARMD-01 hangar.....:) Hey, just *assuming* it also existed in the movie timeline XD. Payment ready to send!

  8. Looking good Grapeape.

Thanks! Would have never been possible without your hard work, though! :D

And that is a GORGEOUS GP01FB! My fave Gundam MS designs ever are those from 0083 - (mostly) "believable" (for that universe) and not all bells-and-whistles flashy like Wing or Seed.

  9. Almost finished!! Directions say to let the decals dry at least 48 hrs before adding a clear coat. So I'll do some battle scars in the mean time, and then its Starbuck to the rescue!!

More pics of my Viper (Battle damaged) in the Anime section!! :D

That is one HELL of an awesome Mk.2 Viper!!!!!!

    Okay, here's four more of Neptune's 1/2500 Salan Scout Ship....almost done! :)

  10. Neptunesurvey's amazingly detailed and also suitably biomechanical 1/2500 scale Salan Zentran Scout Ship. So far at the masking stage, before application of the green - we're using Russsian WW2 AMT-4 Green, seems most accurate to the color in the anime.

EDIT: VERY sorry about that! I did create resized ones, then accidentally uploaded the full sized ones anyways! DOH!!!!!

OK, here's the smaller size ones :D

And Neptune - yep, actually, AMT-4 is a Russian WW2 forest green shade, so we agree ;)

  11. You could always pick up a copy of Fine Scale Modeler at your local bookstore and call all of the listed Hobby Shops from the back of the magazine.

I checked the latest issue and while no shops listed in your homestate there are 79, so maybe one of those has it on the rack still. Here's a quick webcam photo of the section I'm talking about. Sorry I can't take a better shot for you. Good luck.

    Well, I'd recommend White Ensign Models Colourcoats - sure, they're in the UK, but they have great service and decent prices, even post conversion rate 0___0;;;;

  12. To anyone reading this who is on the edge: You won't be disapointed with a J.Mosc model. His work is impeccable, and always as realistic as it gets. If your on the edge...get in while the getting is good. The Tanmen Catseye has been fetching a lot of money since it's not available anymore...consider this a chance at investing! :)

Thanks for a rational reason to justify buying one......INVESTING :D...sure, right, yup...

*Sigh* Put me down for one please!
