  1. I hope there are some interesting sales coming up for the folks here.

Here is something i saw that some of us old timer collectors might be interested in...

    1 100 factory

pre order for July release of course.

  2. Yeti,

Awesome "eye candy" as always bud, the build is coming along nicely!!

If and when you get the chance i need to talk with you about wiring techniques for lights etc.

Also as for the "Used and Grimey", i agree with DarrinG...sounds perfect!!

  3. Yup, I was just referring to the fact the shoulder wasn't locked in to the front part of the chest like in the v1 1/60 Valks.

But there's also: http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36316 if anyone's feeling weary about the shoulders. :)

I recall awhile back purchasing some cast sets from one of our fellow MW members that enclosed this part of the shoulder.

I agree that it does restrict the arms from a full range of posing, however it does add extra support for those with non-nimble fingers.

Mind you they do have a different detail to them, but i dont think they look bad.

    (sorry about the blurry images)

  4. All this talk about building tomcats has got me inspired to start a build of one that i hold dear to me.

I actually served in this squadron from 1994- 1998 so i about fell over when i came across this in the local hobby shop.

    my f-14 model

VF 143 F 14 front gate Nas Oceana

I have to say it will be different painting it in this scale vs painting the actual aircraft in real life. (didnt have to add the dirt, hyd fluid, oil or grease to that paint job)

I'm actually considering painting the vf-1's non-assembled/no paint in a slightly modified paint scheme from this squadron as well as 1 from each of the 3 squadrons i served in during my time in the navy. Pics below..

  5. Thanks guys... I feel that I made a couple of mistakes, near the end too, that just kinda marred it a bit. Most of my builds are generally a little bit smaller. Its odd to think how large the F-14 actually is compared to the hornet, the F-16 or other fighters... which caused some complications when I reached the final phase of the build.

I worked on the Tomcats in real life and i can tell you they were quite a bit bigger than the hornets....even a super hornet engine could easily fit inside a GE 400 from a F-14B or D.

  6. I saw those over there too as well...the appear to be around the same dimensions of the Mechanical Chain Bases and IHO i would purchase the chain bases over these.

  7. Thought I should post some more photos, even if they are not in great lighting. These two tomcats are basically done... (there are some bits I need to add, like 101's TARPS loadout and paint a few things) though I'm not really happy with how 200 turned out.

I also finished one of my F-16s and nearly finished a P-51.

I think you did a wonderful job on all your aircraft... I like the greasy look on the nose of 200, probably from one of those damn plane captains that just got done removing or adding the chocks and chains lol, all are very realistic paint jobs. B))

  8. After looking at the image more carefully i agree with you guys that it is not a shadow. Also it appears that they are using the first VF-1 Master files book as a guide for this scheme. In the back of the book they have this scheme complete with 2 stripes on each wing.

    Chris

After thumbing through a google search i found a (sadly small) image taken from the VF-1 Master files book that supports Dobbers agreement. Even in such a small image you can plainly see the black "ghost line" (in Navy terms) on the upper radome, canopy and turtle back/hog back panel area. As far as the double red stripes go (on both wings) it appears to possibly be a misinterpretation of the image given in the master file since the present a split top/bottom view of the valk. Misinterpretation or not, I like this paint scheme however i do agree the grey area on the radome looks horrible.

  9. Of Course! I'll PM you with the details. These are scaled for 1/60, But I can re-size them for any scale. Just to elaborate these doorways will be going over the door areas that will be etched and milled out. I have attached some pictures illustrating the areas they will be going over. And yes there will be a catwalk for the door that's up a little higher. I'll have some more soon trying to finish up some other stuff this weekend and shipping some Military Vehicle sets as well but I'll have more pics soon!

    Hey there Yeti,

I was curious as to the actual panel size of this wall template shown in the above post by you.

I'm putting together a 2 level 1/60 hanger deck diorama and would love to use these templates or

something simular in size. Please PM me with the details and perhaps cost as well (if you have some spare time.)

    Thanks bud,

    Blue
