  1. Is the YF-19 2010 version a revised version that's improved and as good as the VF-25's?

Any comments/feedback on this as I'm thinking of getting one...

If you are referring to the two limited releases of the "double nuts" white with blue and the "Bird of Prey", white with orange. I have both and they are a major step forward from the first release of the YF-19, BUT the more recent release of the VF-19 is light years ahead of any YF-19 release. If you were only going to get one YF-19, I would wait for the V2 that has been hinted at for a while now.

It might be a while but it will be worth it!

If you need a YF-19 now, the two I listed above are a match to the VF-25's.

    Hope that helps.

  2. If Yamato is fearfull of the lack of support for something like the VF-0 line perhaps they could look at a similar strategy to how they are rolling out with the VF-4. A limited run of web exclusives is a great way to help out the fans and if it proves to be a success they could add more to the line. Hell, an advance pre order which determines production like the tamashi web orders would be perfect.

I think yamatos reputation, particularly after the last couple of releases, has improved a great deal. collectors and fans may be more willing to put down some cash for limited releases.

From a business stand point I totally understand their reluctance to revisit the line, however you have to wonder if a V2 VF-0 would be a runaway success.

  3. Funny, ishop2go has the 25G listed through their Macross series shop on the main page.

They are NOT taking any preorders- it just states: check after the release date for available stock.....

That can't be a good sign.

  4. My Nippon Yassan request said the item is "soon to be in stock", not actually in stock. I believe the June 19 due date is when they expect it.

Hopefully theres enough stock to fill everyone's pre-order and no one will miss out. I think anyone with a payment request should get on to it straight away. It's like most new items, regardless of the category the retailers will hand over the stock to those that pay first or those who have left a deposit.

  5. Got to say I feel kind of lucky with the special box edition....

Checked this morning (melbourne) and saw both versions at Amiami, I thought cool I will grab he limited box edition. Whoops sold out..

Ok so I get the standard edition and move on. Earlier today the preorder opened up again (for the box set) and I managed to get in just before it closed again!

I think it will look amazing, now the waiting game...

  6. Slightly OT, but I couldn't find any other topics for this.

For the older DX toys (specifically, the VF-27, which was supposed to be a better release), do the joints get weaker simply as they sit inside the box in fighter mode? Also, how horrible do they really get (I'm interested in getting one)....? At this late in the game, even in a new piece, do the joints and hinges simply break a lot?

    Thanks in advance

I have both 27 releases, they are both pretty equal in terms of loose joints and the paint chipping issue that the Bandai's all seem to suffer.

As David said they can be easily tightened, I personally find that nail polish works best for the shoulders. The beam rifle that the 27's come with is a beast and in order to hold the rifle in some unique poses you will need to give the joints a coat right out of the box.

Very cool Valk, which ever you choose.

  7. I guess I have been lucky with my various preorders. I have both renewal Valks, the YF-29 (first release) and even prior to that the VF-27 green or grace type.

I have placed an order with ishop2go for the VF-171EX the same day they put it up, never used them before but I have paid in full and hopefully I don't miss out.

Its always great to get something limited, having said that as a fan of macross I would hate to miss out any any Valk.

I hope we all get what we want.

    Good luck!

  8. I made a few comments under the YF-29 topic about the super parts adding too much weight to the YF-29 frame, particularly in battroid.

I have tightened up the joints but the legs and crotch area just don't seem happy with the additional weight and have started to loosen up even more.

Anyway the reason I mention it is because I really hope the V2 can take the added weight and bulk of the armour packs. I have had the V2 alto for a while now and I must say the hips and crotch seem much better than the 29. Having said that the armour is massive on the 25 and will really test out those hip joints.

For those of you with hands on expierence with the V2, how do you think the joints will hold up?

  9. any ideas on fixing the crotch joint? Mine comes apart when in batttroid with the the super parts on

Yeah I used the method you outlined to tighten up the hip joints, that worked really well until the super parts arrived. Now the crotch collapses and generally the weight of the super packs seems to be too much for battroid mode. The hip joints have started to loosen up again so I have changed mine into fighter, where at least for the time being my 29 shall remain.

Hopefully someone can find a solution for the crotch and then I will revisit the hips.

  10. If you want a D, be prepared to wait near the end of the year. There are reasons for this, I just can't say what they are .

    Graham

Thanks Graham, its good to know how much time I have to set aside some funds...it will be interesting to see what else Yamato and Bandai have up their sleeves for 2012, I think its going to be a massive (insert - expensive) year!!

    Bring on the VALKS!

  11. Hopefully I'm not disappointed with the paint color when the "S" valk arrives, or in a few months time when the super parts arrive......

I was so impressed with the V2 Alto that I couldn't help myself and I preordered the parts, for both valks. I think they will complete the VALK in ways that the V1 just couldn't get close to.

    Fingers crossed!!

  12. That's my theory---there will be bundles in the future, but not necessarily the less-seen combos---like a super-packed Ozma or full-armor Alto. While super Alto and armor Ozma are very likely.

Just out of curiosity have you ordered the super parts for either OZMA or ALTO?

  13. So I'm seriously considering taking the plunge and seeing if I can get an Ozma VF-25S with web exclusive fast packs. I passed on the Ozma pre-orders because I was hoping Bandai would release a fastpack set, but seeing as Bandai seems to be repeating the V1 release plan, I'm thinking there will never be a bundle.

So what are my options? The only place I could find that sill has pre-orders is Big Bad Toy Store, but that will run me approx $350 for Ozma and fastpacks. Does anyone know of anywhere else not sold out? Is $350 for the set that bad? Should I take the gamble on Bandai releasing a fastpack bundle? Hope HLJ puts Ozma up again and try to track down a fast pack somewhere else? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I couldn't find any VF-25S renewals up for preorder. If the sales pattern follows the VF-25F, there should be another release shortly after the first batch arrives. I would snatch up the parts, esspecially for the "s". I guess no one can say if Bandai will release the super pack bundels but I think its a safe bet that if they release one, it will be ALTO's valk.

I ordered the parts from Ebay a while agofrom a seller called "BIGINJAPAN". I have used them a few times with exclusives and apart from taking AGES to arrive they have not let me down. I remember I passed up the V1 initial orders for the exclusive super parts and ended up paying double a few months later....

    Good Luck!

  14. Yeah I got caught up the frontier hype and I have almost all of the infamous v1 releases...it's a great series and the valk designs are so fresh yet familiar. The v2 is a big step forward and you won't be disappointed.

Snakes..that's cool, In would imagine that can be an expensive hobby as well. Just a coincidence, but on the News this morning the largest constrictor on the continent was measured at 6.5 meters long weighing 130 kilograms. Apparently they feed it 5 times a year and the main coarse is a 20 kilo goat!!

    I think macross is safer...
