One thing to consider, when wondering what Yamato will release next is whether or not multiple version are possible. The design and tooling costs of a transforming toy are sky high and if only a single version can be released, Yamato would make a loss. It's not just about breaking even, any manufacturer has to make a profit and in the case of transforming VF toys this is only possible if a) the production run is very large (Yamato's are not), or b) if multiple repaints can be released, e.g. VF-1A/J/S Hikaru/Max/Focker etc.
As much as I would like to see a VF-4 or VF-5000 toy, the chances are probably slim as the repaint/multiple version potential is far lower.

Low Viz VF-4, any paint scheme of the VF-1 lines too! Minmay Guard VF-4!

Actually, I would sure as hell buy a Low Viz version of some of the other valks if they released them!
But I need a VF-4!

Needs it, wants it! Our.... prrrrrecious!

I'll just keep hoping! ... either that or I'm gonna learn how to sculpt and spend years trying make my own!

-
Can't sleep, valk will eat me!

That thing looks cool!

-
If they make a VF-4 with the quality of the VF-1 series valks, I'm sold!

VF-19 Pilot!!!, I understand what you're saying.
How do you guys play with your toys? Hold them up and go "whoooosh whooooosh?"
How does that translate into foreplay prowess?
Were your wives and girlfriends impressed when you first got their attention by standing in front of them, takatoku in hand, and commencing some kind of mating dance involving many "whoosh"s and "ratta-tatta"s?
Actually, yes I do hold up my valks and go "woooosh wooosh". I also go " vriiiiiii-shooooom!" and "bratatatatatat!". And slow motion while I transform it "va-shin choo!"
Seriously!!!Uh foreplay prowess.... I'm imaginative and can make funny noises?

Seriously, grown ups who can play with toys because they don't have strong schemas are generally more mentally healthy and can enjoy more things than less open minded people.

And in fact my fiancée finds it really cute when I run around our home playing with my valks. I even got her into Macross, and she bought herself an Elintseeker and plays with it too!
We don't commence mating dances with the valks, but I've heard of weirder things!
Like this topic! If you don't understand why we buy them and play with them, then you will never understand.

You can always try picking up girls by saying "check out the size of my nosecone, baby!" or "I'll show you, I'm no micro-human!"

Whoo boy...
in Toys
hey i did the same but i live in france and i pre-ordered to HJL (japan)lol
i'm mad. 20.000 yen + shipping + taxes. I think it's going to be something like 250 euros. (275 US dollars)
but I already know i won't regret
Expect to pay something around €30-45 customs fees.

I did when I got a shipment from HLJ for a similar price.
Thankfully when I got one of my valks from Valkyrie Exchange, no customs fee, it was marked as gift!

Is this a philosophical question?

It's coming, but the YF-19 is one of the most difficult VFs to design a really good, accurate toy of. Those of you who have really thought about this and studied the issue will know what I mean. The groin/front landing gear area and back of the legs/shoulder areas are real challenges. Pictures will be released as soon as Yamato is happy with the design. I trust you all want a good toy, so just be patient. Give them time to get it right rather than rush the design.
Of course something like the Q-Rau which does not transform and is a much simpler design will be finished quicker.
Graham
I'm drooling in anticipation, but I'll wait for as long as it takes!
I'd rather get a YF-19 that's represented correctly, rather than a lanky or chunky toy. *cough cough* BANDAI! *cough cough*

He's just stimulating hair grow in his palms, nothing more to be shocked about than some of the other stuff in that series!

According to the Cognitive Development Theory, between the ages of 3 and 5 a child acquires gender constancy, which is an understanding that a persons's gender is fixed and cannot be altered by a change in hairstyle, dress, or name.
Slaby and Frey (1975) describe the process of gender identity formation as having three stages:
1) an awareness that two sexes exist (attained around age 3)
2) an understanding that gender does not change over time
3) an awareness that gender remains unchanged across situations and behaviors (constancty)
-from Sex and Gender by Hilary M. Lips
You can bombard him with masculine stuff and that could do the trick, or you have the chance that he will reject it if there is an over-exposure. He's at an age where he's still learning what's for boys and what's for girls.
As for the dress, well, let him know what kind of social reactions he will get, especially if classmates find out!
Just be patient, calm, and understanding. Don't over-bombard him with stereotypes.
It sounds like you've been handling the situation well. Plus, try having a talk with your wife to see what she thinks and explain why you're worried.
Besides some kids go through this faze. Let him have his fun, but jus tlet him know that socially it's considered unacceptable, and if the public finds out he's gonna have a hard time.
Good luck Rob! You'll do fine!

(I'm a student in a psych class on Sex and Gender, not a psychologist though!)

Yes!!

nally I'll be able to get my hands on them. thankyou Sumdumgai No problem! I know I missed out on them for a bit, I managed to get a hold of a few figures but I know that there are other people like me who said "DAMN! I should have found out sooner!"
It never stops amusing me when someone thanks me and says my name!

If anyone's interested I found a shop that has the CM's Macross Figures. It's a place called House of Anime. So far I've bought stuff from them twice, with one of the times having some stuff that I found wierd (some plushies not being in original packaging, although they claim that they received them that way, as for a gashapon set not being in sealed bags, I got their demo set since the series was out of production).
In any case, if you want to here's the link:
It's in Toys & Figures, then you go to Vinyl and Plastic Figures. You should be able to click on Macross, and you'll be brought to the page.
They are $8. They do ship internationally, although my stuff got shipped in a ramen box last time... <_<

Well, the main thing with the first release was the hips. They broke before the valk was even taken out of the box. I never got the first version, so I can't give a personal account, other memebers will surly voice their oppinons on the subject. I found the Fp version to be extremely durable though.
One day while transforming my VF-11 there was a sickening *snap* and I was holding a severed leg.

Super-glued the leg back on, but I'm afraid that it'll re-break off, or that the other will decide to come off.
I'm just gonna wait to see if Yamato does a new sculpt of the VF-11 like they've done with the YF-19FP.
Seeing how well the VF-1 line has come out, QC issues aside, I'd wait a couple years for a VF-11 resculpt!Besides I find that the current VF-11 has too large of a back, and the legs are too short. I still love my VF-11 though.

What would someone vote if they wanted a Stampede Valk?
*cackles maniacally*
It depends, do you mean the one based off a VF-1? Or do you mean the sketch for the VF-11 variant in Macross Design Works?

-
I'll bet they stick to cartoons rather than Live action, though I'll be happy to be proven wrong. ... I hope they'd do the Knights of the Old Republic / or Tales of the Jedi era myself or maybe something past the NJO...
MORE EWOK CARTOONS!1111
...
Oh gods... what if they make GUNGAN cartoons?
Then we will have to:
Wipe them out. All of them.
Palpatine had the right idea when coming to that race!

I dunno about a TV series, it could be really crappy... Then again it could be good!
-
I love the VF-1 and the VF-0, but I got charmed by the VF-11 in Macross Plus (since I haven't seen Macross 7 yet).

However, page # 42 of the Macross Design Works book does have lineart for the battroid mode of the VT-1.Graham
Beat me to the punch Graham!

Just wondering but do you have any news on any new Valkyries? Not that you have to tell us what yet, if you aren't allowed to.

But, just to keep us bouncing off the walls in anticipation (like telling kids "Yeah, I got you a present" but not giving any more info).

I sense that someone is ANGRY!!!!

Seriously though, let's not breakdown into acting like kids and calling each other " 'tupid" cause we can't agree with each other!
Grow up.I'm just waiting to here either the "yes" or "no" on 1/48 Macross Plus valks, regardless of whether I could use them as a skateboard or a truck. 1/55 is cool too. 1/60 ain't bad either, more economic and size handy.

Can't wait to see about that 1/72 YF-19FP while waiting though!

-
update:
1/72: 1 VF-11
1/60: 2 VF-1A Max (and my fiancée bought a VE-1 so I'll count hers too)
1/48: 3 VF-1A Max and Two Low Vizs

Damn, the low viz is purty!

-
What trips me out is not the hair, but how Max keeps his glasses in place. Mine keep sliding down my nose, and if I had that visor in place and I took a big jolt I'd be screwed until I re-position them.
Max keeps his glasses in place because he's a genius, as Mikimoto would put it (hell he's a genius at aging right?).

I'm not a canon extremist, I just prefer my valks without the FAST-packs. They look sleeker.
-
Oh geez, there seems to be a lot of that happening lately...Good luck on fixing it!

I'd point you to Monkey Nugget, but I remember reading that he had said that Yamato stopped doing the spare parts thing (check the "Latest 1/48" thread).

Wow, people here are getting ANGRY!!!!

Obviously neither Hurin nor Goku-whateverthehell are gonna be able to convince each other of the other's pov. Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, then go find someone to hit. You'll feel better.

Anyone hoping for a Max VF-1S by the way? Maybe a Minmay Guard First Edition (the pink one is fugly)? Kakizaki? VT-01C? Stampede (oh god the weight and size of that monster!!!
)?

Just a suggestion, but why doesn't someone do an Appale Genki VF-0, like the Minmay Guard VF-1?

I mean replace the Minmay picture with the little guy, and change the color scheme to tropical colors!
