  1. The Low Viz is probably gonna be tough to get your hands on. And, if you do find it, it's gonna cost the eyes from your head! :o

As for the other ones, I'll step back and let someone else answer, because I honestly don't know. ;)

  2. :) Why would you want a cure? ;)

I know what you mean, I broke down and bought a Max 1/48 and then two Low Viz (MY PRECIOUS! YAH CAN'T HAVE IT!!!). Now, I'm a bit low on money and gotta save for a while, but when that 19FP comes out...

    :D:D:D

I think about valks everyday, especially trying to figure out in my head the exact transformation sequence of some of the valks. I just can't completely figure out the VF-4, I have most of it down in my head, but can't figure out how some parts move here or there. The VF-5000 has me a bit stumped on one portion too, but oh well (yes, I have the Macross Design Works book).

But, it doesn't interfere with daily work... Yet... ;)

  3. I go with Bandai.

-Rant (go ahead and skip this, I just gotta get it outta my system)

In the past I would have hoped for ADV but they've gone down the tubes and whored themselves out to Harmony Gold. Their Rurouni Kenshin OVA release on DVD was a big-ass pile of crap; the English dub was butchered and for the "extra" information they gave was a bunch of made up crap (Shinsengumi fans you know what I'm talking about!).

I really used to like ADV and admire them, they've released a lot of anime that I like and have done a good job in the past. But, their release of RK was :angry::angry::angry:

Their release of Orphen sucked too, but I was never a fan of it.

    -End rant

Yeah, Bandai's done alright on Cowboy Bebop, and Escaflowne the Movie was pretty good (although they worked with Viz). Yeah, Bandai's fine by me.

  4. As much as I'd like to get a 1/48 VF-0, people will start screaming that it's too big!

Hell, the VF-0 is larger than the YF-19, and a bunch of people scream that a 1/48 M+ valk is monsterously big and impractical........... <_<

    I WANT ONE! :lol::lol::lol:

  5. I have a MISB 1/48 Low Viz and I am debating opening it and Stickering the hell out of it. My problem now is that apparently the more I read the more it seems this thing is a "hot" item right now. Same damn thing happened with the Bandai Max and Millia and I left them MISB. I would get another but I am not going to pay $170+ as of ebay 12/01/03 when I paid $140 for mine a few months ago. This sucks!

    Rob

If it's just to have a 1/48 to play with, I'd recommend getting a VF-1A of whatever type and playing with that.

Just take the time to make the right decision. I made the wrong one about seven years ago and opened up a Star Wars action figure from the original Return of the Jedi figures, and I've seen it going in the 100s... :o

If you are certain you will enjoy it, open it up and love it everyday! ;) Love it, don't LOVE it!

Otherwise, get a 1/48 and customize it to look like a Low Viz or whatever!

  6. I'd recommend Valkyrie Exchange, I got a 1/48 from them and it arrived fine with nothing from our friends les douanes, no fees, everything arrived in great condition, and very quickly might I add.

With HLJ, I know I had a bad experience once, when our friends les douanes butt-raped me on two packages I got from HLJ, two packages about 100€ per package, and had to pay about 80€ of fees for the both of them.

And, with HLJ, I've been waiting for other items that I ordered when they were "in stock" when I put in my request (non-macross stuff), and I've been waiting for over a month and a half for items which should be relatively easy to get in stock.

I'd bitch about the CMs Macross figures I tried to get from them, but that wasn't their fault, those things sold out faster than a blink of the eye! :o

  7. Heh, so I wonder what the Soccer Moms would think of Tokyo Marui's new line of 'Boys' airsoft guns aimed at 10 year olds?

    See here.

Heck, they even use Gaijin kids in the advert :p

    Political incorrectness at it's finest!

    Graham

Damn, I was gonna mention that!

I had a battery operated TM Desert Eagle, and it SUCKED HARD! If that M4 continues the tradition of the battery operated pistols, I wouldn't buy my kids a piece of crap like that (not that I have any yet). :p

I spent a lot of my childhood playing wargames with toy guns. Okay, someone in my Psych class in Highschool said I looked like a serial killer and I was voted one of the top three students that was likely to go Columbine at school, but other than that nothing happened!:lol::lol::lol:

    Political correctness, the new anti-communism.

  8. I know some think we're a minority, but it seems to me that there are many more people who vocally want Mac+ toy in 1/48 than there are that want it in 1/60.

Right, now where are those poll-happy people? That could sort that out.

    I want a Q-Rau, I want a 1/48 YF-19, I want my crap to be in the same scale, although I think I'll just get a 1/60 Q-rau...

Oh screw it, if they make a 1/48 to be in scale with the VF-1 I'll see about it.

    I want a VF-19A maybe, but I don't like the Macross 7 19 variants. I do want a VF-22 though, I think they look cool.

Oh yeah, sorry but.. VF-4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wants!!!:lol::lol:

  9. A sequel to Escaflowne would be great but is there really room to expand that. More information is needed for sure.

I remember reading a while back that there's going to be an Escaflowne OVA series, it could be that. I don't remember when or where, so take it with a grain of salt guys! :p

I do hope it's a Macross project though, not that I'd mind more Escaflowne.

  10. This is getting embarrassing now but....

How do I get the dorsal hatch(with the funny tab stickingthrough it) to open? I don't feel like gouging/chipping a piece of plastic again...

    Thanks

I push up from the underside of the valk when I'm going through the Gerwalk to Battroid transformation. I find that the easiest way to open the hatch.

God, the first time I transformed my first 1/48 every crack I heard from the legs while transforming it had me shivering with fear! And I kept sweating thinking, "crap! Did I break it!?"

  11. tom64ss,

    ^_^ whew... ok,

Everyone who's against the idea talks about them like it would be such a monstrocity, when all were really talking about is a few inches. In the end, it's really the price tag, isn't it?

    A 1/60 vf-1a costs approx $50 to about $70

    A 1/48 vf-1a costs approx $120 to about $150.

I dont know if you actually sat down and thought about it but that's more than double the price for a "few inches".

Given the popularity of the yf 19 alone. The price would be even greater. So let's see... that's about $450 for three toys with a few measely inches added to them.

In the end, it's really the price tag, isn't it?

WTF is this about?? You talk as if the concern for price is a non-issue. I dunno what money tree you're standing under but for many of us, it is an issue.

If they were made in 1/60 and it sold well, Yamato would eventually just make them in 1/48 anyways, and then all the people who bought 1/60 Mac+ toys would bitch about Yamato sucking them dry.

Bypassing the 1/60 scale to accomodate rich, size-crazed asses like yourself, seems a bit illogical.

And when 1/60 does well, (when it's made) which it will..., like you said..., "Yamato would eventually just make them in 1/48 anyways".

SO.... Then technically, you shall get your 1/48...

1/48 ONLY people, you guys are a minority. Not that it's a bad thing... but when you start suggesting we skip the 1/60... then it becomes a bad thing....

Yeah, but also look at how much more complicated the 1/48 VF-1 is in comparison to the 1/60. There are so many parts to it!

The Monster is gonna be big and expensive, I mean DAMN it's a monster in size and it's 1/60! With tthe size of that box you could house a couple bums in it in the street!

I really don't mind if they make 1/60 valks, in fact I encourage it! Let those who want a smaller valkyrie have their smaller valkyrie. But, quit pissing on our parade because we want something big, that you're afraid will take away from the things you want to see made.

If it costs our eyes from our head, and we still want it, then so be it! I don't see what the hell the big fuss is about if there are those who don't mind paying a butt-load of money!

And what's with bringing in the insults now?

Don't start degenerating this thread into a bunch of name calling, please!

If they make a 1/60 scale good, if they don't and bypass it for a 1/48 then insult Yamato, but let's not let this degenerate into a flame war! :)

  12. Kill bill is pretty much a live action samurai anime. Want good samurai action? Go watch the Kenshin OVA's or TV series or Ninja Scroll (NS is not my favorite but it is okay).

Or even better, one of the many many chanbarra samurai films from the 60's and 70's. Akira Kurasawa's stuff is a good place to start.

Watch the original Zatoichi movies, they rock! Not that new crap with Beat Takeshi!

There's Yojimbo (with the Western adapted "Fist Full of Dollars"), The Seven Samurai (with the Western adapted "The Magnificant Seven"), and the Samurai Trilogy with Toshiro Mifune as Miyamoto Musashi. :)

I still gotta see Kill Bill, but I don't have high hopes for that movie, maybe I'll be surprised!

  13. Oh yeah I almost forgot 1/48 VF-4 lighting III, 1/48 VF-11B + Fastpacks

We wants it! We needs it! Our... prrrrrrrr-ecious!!

Need a VF-4 and a 1/48 VF-11 (I don't give a damn if I can ride them to work, I want them in the same scale range as my 1/48 VF-1, regardless that they're bigger and will have a box that I could fit a dead hooker's body in!). :p

  14. ^_^ *nodnod*

Too many times has the "The Q-rau and Monster are 1/60 and they have tons of detail!" arguement been brought up. This is the most blatant case of not understanding size over scale. I don't know how people can support a 1/60 Monster then try to shoot down a 1/48 YF-21.

    I'll go for a 1/48 YF-21! :D

Give me a 1/48 VF-11 thank you very much! And of course the VF-4 (yes I am obsessing on it). ;)

They could probably strengthen up the delicate areas with metal parts that normally a smaller one might not be able to have because the metal parts would be too small and weak. On a 1/48 VF-11 they might be able to do away with those shoulder bars that the 1/72 VF-11 has.

Just wondering, but has anyone had any accidents yet with their pilots? Cat eating it. Kid eating it. One of you getting hungry and deciding to see what gummi-pilots taste like. Candle falling in the cockpit during a romantic dinner (sorry, couldn't resist! :p )?

  15. I was thinking: the VF-1S Hikaru is here (yippee!), the VF-1S and 1A reissues have started popping up (hooray!), and the J is supposed to be out in a few weeks (whee!). What then? I wonder when/if Yamato will announce another 1/48 VF-1. I think the 1/60 Q-Rau and Monster (and possibly a YF-19 resculpt) are the big releases of 2004, but this will be the first time since the original 1/48 was announced that I haven't had some clue that another 1/48 was coming down the pipe. It's weird. What will I have to obsess about?

I'll obsess about hoping what they will release! ;)

    Knudge-knudge wink-wink VF-4 knudge-knudge wink-wink :D Oh do I wish!

Maybe stuff from the Variable Fighter Experimental Program? SW-XA1? SW-XA2?

    There's so many possibilities! :D

Till then, I'll be obsessively and maniacally waiting for the YF-19FP, and then I'll probably wait for the Q-Rau!

  16. :( Just got this from HLJ...
