  1. Save and I hit up The Macross Original Art Exhibition today. Full impressions to follow but I've gotta say that the official exhibit book is terrific and features a lot of good illustrations for a reasonable price! It's not pictured below although the other swag I picked up most certainly is :-)

Can you provide more details on the content of " the official exhibit book"? Thanks! Would like to purchase this book.... ;)

  2. As far as I knew there was 8 volumes of the Arii/Imai Macross "Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan" booklets.......Volume 8 is probably the hardest to find......

This booklet is not numbered, however, it is also an Arii/Imai booklet....it seems to be announcing the arrival of the SDFM TV show (most likely shameless promotion to drum up interest for their upcoming kits! ^_^ )....

I had never run into this one before so I assume most have ended up in many a Japanese landfill..... :(

I'll call it "Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fans" Volume Zero! :D

  3. After going back and forth several times, I want special whale blood/bpollen red version. Not LE, I hope?

Well...it would be kinda hard to screw up that "paint scheme"......but then again we'd all be arguing which shade of "red" is canon space whale blood!

    ...and for the record.....

  4. Once painted, it does not look that bad.

However, it made me think of (hopefully) an inevitable Yamato SDF-1 TV release....

If it were to be produced by Yamato....would you prefer it to be painted with the bright colors from the show...or the more subdued, yet similar colors as were used in the painted kit in that auction?

    Hmmmmmm........

...and I wish one of our talented sculptors would make a 1/3000 scale Prometheus and Daedelus to connect to our DYRL SDF-1's (for a MtF version).......Yamato seems to be dragging their feet!

  5. I completely understand. They could have re-drawn the entire movie with crayons and sold it in a paper bag and I still would have bought it (hell, I bought that awful "HD remaster" DVD box!)... I just love this movie too much, plus the box was a no-brainer, with all the precious materials it contains.

So in going through the precious materials....I assume they were not able to sucker someone into "borrowing" some of their "missing" treasures.......the set still has missing posters......but I was pleasantly surprised to find a replica of the old Macross DYRL Arcade game poster!!! I regrettably passed that one up a while ago..........plus they forgot to include copies of the stills from the initial movie release....which I shared in the collectors thread....

Can anyone else come up with more items that were missing from the "extras"?

  6. Yeah, I've been on the lookout for that one since I saw it about 4 years ago on a website. Found this one, and although I knew it wasn't A, I wasn't sure if there was a C, or D book either. Got this for about $20.

Only A and B from what I have found...of course, it seems I find new books/printed media that I never knew existed all of the time.......the thrill of the hunt makes this part of the hobby fun.....wish I felt the same about recent Bandai releases....maybe in 30 years?

  7. Meet my new acquisition. Not sure exactly which one this is, but it's pretty much all Mylene. If anyone has info on which book this actually is, I'd appreciate it.

That's the Macross 7 Sketchbook B.....it is the much easier to find of the two Macross 7 sketchbooks (actually, there is a Macross Dynamite 7 sketchbook that has proven to be even more difficult to find).....here is the Macross 7 Sketchbook A....it took me a while to find it.....

  8. Great detective work Renato. Mystery solved.

Although why that shop has it is another mystery. I may have to ask them how much thay want for it.
