there is not better looking animation out there
*cough* Stand Alone Complex *cough*
Of course, SAC is so expensive to produce, they're only doing 22 episodes or so.
I thought I read somewhere that GITS SAC is being extended to 52 episodes?

I have no idea on how to save Star Trek.... It's been floundering around for so long maybe its time to take a break for awhile... and take time to develop a series instead of just throwing them out there one after another with no real direction or substance.
Wasn't there talk of a show with Riker as captain, if and when Enterprise is cancelled?

Oh boy a new Gundam series...I wonder if this one will feature a young full of angst teenage boy trying to find himself while controlling a giant mech...
Actually an Armored Core series would be kind of cool. Kawamori does most of the mech designs for that. It might get me interested into serious mech shows again. Macross Zero sure didn't. <_<

One of my 1/48 VF-1S had the "pimple". While it shouldn't be there, just use fine grit sandpaper or a file to remove it. You can't even tell it was there on mine anymore.
The seam on the VF-1S head is a dead issue. Unless you like staring at your toys nose to nose, you can't see it at a "normal" viewing distance.

I must be in the wrong line of work...
I don't think my friends and I in our prime beer drinkin' and smokin j's years could come up with this.
I'd like to see the films that lost...
Speaking Of Lodoss War. How is the TV series? I've been a fan of the original for a long time.
-
I like the show alot but Escaflowne really doesn't need a sequel. It really didn't need a movie either...
Well if its a new Macross series, hire anyone else but the chump who did the character designs for Macross Zero. For the most part they are hideous.
I tried to like them.
Maybe it will be like how Spring and Chaos was made. Macross' characters and mechs are cats. They can preach an environmental message like Arjuna
"Ya know when ya eat cheeseburgers...."A new Macross series might interest me but since my interest in serious
sci-fi mech anime is at an all time low... so who knows. Thankfully Macross isn't always dependent on mechs.

CPM Licenses Doggy Poo
Central Park Media officially announced at the recent Big Apple Anime Fest that it has acquired the American distribution rights to Doggy Poo. The film is an educational and inspiring Korean claymation film about an unwanted piece of dog poo that discovers self-worth and its place in life.
Doggy Poo won the "Best Pilot Prize" at The Tokyo International Anime Fair 2003 and was selected as a "Best Pilot For Domestic & International Market" by The Korean Culture & Contents Agency.
Is there really such a thing as a wanted piece of dog poo?

All Gundam has always been aimed for kids or to be exact, pre teen and teenage boys. Which to me, almost 30...., are kids.
That's not to say Macross was aimed for adults either btw.

Ya unloaded all of my 1/55s (originals and reissues). Some of the money used to buy 1/48s
I've sold most of my 1/60's too. Some of that money used for 1/48s as well
I wouldn't mind seeing a Super O in 1/48. The only problem(for me) is spending all that money just to leave it in fighter mode. That's why I'm undecided on the 1/60 Super O. The battroid mode looks like an after thought.

So with that said, what is the number one or top elite toys that are sold in Japan if not Macross Valks or Takara Transformers?
It's all about Gundam, baby.
Sad... but true.
Even here (SF Bay Area), I see more Gundam stuff in shops than I do Macross.
Another index of popularity...search on "Gundam" over at Google turns up 1,950,000 hits. "Macross" only turns up 471,000.
Personally, I've only seen one Gundam film ("Char's Counterattack") and I couldn't stand it.
One of the reasons you see more Gundam merchandise is simply because there's more Gundam than Macross. Gundam has been a continuous cycle of TV shows, OVAs, movies with toys, models, etc to go along with it for 20 plus years. Personally, I think Gundam blows but that is something fo another time.
Whereas Macross, wakes up every once in awhile and gives us some new products. Lately, its been alot lol.
Considering how many shows have come & gone since Macross aired in the 80's, its kind of surprising to see new merchandise still being made.

Its a toss up for me between DYRL and Macross Plus.
Granted that DYRL uses some of the TV series BGM which I like. At least in DYRL we don't have to hear "My boyfriend is a Pilot" too much...
Macross Plus, I think was one of the first animes that I was really "into" the music. The BGM music is great. And "Voices" is probably my favorite Macross song. I like the rest of Sharon's Apples "creepy" songs too. This coming from a guy who is going to buy Slayer w/Hatebreed tickets this week..lol
M7's Fire Bomber can stay in the bargain bin....

I sold off most of my 1/60s. I was gonna sell the rest (3) but for now I'm keeping them. I might pick up a 1/60 Super O.
My 1/55s are all gone(originals and reissues) except the two I'm selling on ebay right now. Like the transformer reissues, these just don't do it for me anymore. Nostalgia be damned

-
I like the 1/48 scale for a VF-1(I own 5, soon to be more) but a full line of 1/48 scale Macross mechs etc. would be too big and expensive. Even 1/60 is kinda large for a full Macross line of toys. I vote for 1/72. 1/72 would probably be the best choice for a full line of Macross toys.
Now if were talking 1/48 VF-1 vs 1/60 VF-1, 1/48 wins for me.

I wonder why the boxes are so big?
Sorry to offend the Elintseeker lovers out there, but that has to be the stupidest looking Battroid mode out of any Macross mech I've ever seen. Fighter mode looks good but I'll pass on this one.
Even though I swore off the 1/60 line, I might pick up that Super O. Looks good. I'll just keep it in fighter mode I guess. Maybe Gerwalk every once in awhile.

Ok, To anyone that has both th GC and PS2 versions which Plays better. I could care less about the special character, and I know the GC version has better graphics than the PS2.

The PS2 has some terrible loading times in weapon master mode. There is some slowdown. And like MMX said Heihachi is just a waste. It doesn't feel right at all. Necrid is a waste too but he is in all versions. The only real advantge the PS2 has over the GC, is the controller. No one will be able to convince me that the GC contoller is good for this game.

Too bad neither of the Soul Calibur games had a cool intro song like Soul Edge did. Too bad Namco had to tone down the intro in Soul Blade.

Yep that intro kicked ass. Even Soul Edge/Blade had a better soundtrack than either of the Soul Calibur games.

Here it is but they can't ship out of Japan. try google next time

How long do you guys think it'll be before the game is priced down (e.g. PS2 Greatest Hits edition)?
I dunno it just came out lol This one will get milked like GTA3 did. A year maybe? year and a half? Unless it tanks in sales like say Xenosaga, VF4 etc and is 29.99 in 6 months but I doubt that.
Oh and Gamestop got busted for being dishonest....boo f'n hoo...
no wonder that place is my last resort...

My first Yamato was the YF-19 Ver 1. Broke the tab B. Picked up a version 1.5 and 2 2.0 versions. I've owned at least one of of every Yamato product so far(sans the VF-1D, 1/48 Max, Super O and Elint). I've sold off most of my Macross collection. Even my 1/55s, original and reissues. I'm sticking with 1/48s only now.

On the Macross 7 note I remember my fiancee watching me yell at the tv and constantly say things like "make it stop!" and "oh come on!" while watching it. She then asked me "why are you watching this trash if you hate it so much?"
I was left with only one answer: "because I'm trying not to hate it."
Sounds familar. lol my wife (who likes some anime, nothing Macross though) was saying the same things. Also she called Basara a fruit, among other things....
My answer was the same as yours btw lol

1/48 VF-1 Panel Lines
in Toys
Posted
I did panel lines on the custom Hikaru VF-1S I made..I cheated and used a fine tipped black Gundam marker. I was going for the "anime" look.
of course the day after I did it, the Yamato version went up for preorder lol
I might try a a light grey oil wash next time around for a more realistic look.
