Speaking of the eventual double dip http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2055 What a bunch of BS. Now I just might wait for the extended versions...- 377 replies

I ripped the R2 DVDs of the OVA and the movie, added the subs (that I found here) and converted them to AVC/M2TS files so I could watch them on my PS3. Came out pretty good. I had the KAA fansubs of the OVA, they are good but I wanted a rip of the DVDs I already had.

Best Macross animated production (1982-2008)
bandit29 replied to Nexx Stalker's topic in Movies and TV Series
Dyrl? for me. Macross Plus Movie/OVA a close second. I did like Macross Frontier more than I thought I would.. -
Not directly at you but... yawn...when will 20-30 something white guys get over his lame tired ass...

Good episode last night. Who would have thought a terminator was such a terrible shot..and could be taken down so easily.. This show still needs better balance. It has alot of set up and character development(which is good) but when it comes to action..it lacks..

The THORA releases look great on my LCD TV. I convert the MKV to an M2TS file. And run them on my PS3. I dunno if they'd look that much better at 1080p.

That makes sense. I have to keep reminding myself when I watch Macross Frontier that I'm not the target demographic. Ya old fool. I was about 7 or so when I first started watching anime. About 10-11 when I first saw Robotech. So teenage pilots made sense. They don't anymore lol but.. My criticism of the teen pilot concept has to do more with the lack of originality than the actual concept itself. I can deal with the silly concept. Same goes for Kawamori's tried & true love triangle.. He used this in Escaflowne too. Any other anime? The Japanese in general ,whether it be in anime or videogames, have hit a wall when it comes to creativity lately. Alot of their product is just shovelware. Not that the West is much better mind you.

A few criticisms but overall I liked Macross Frontier. Not the greatest anime ever but more enjoyable than Macross 7 ever was. The animation is inconsistent. This happens in all anime TV series but Macross Frontier can go from great to cringe-worthy all in one episode. Characters. Too many. Which leads to lack of development. Which then leads to me not caring about them one way or the other. Some are bit anime generic/cliche. The 14-17 year olds going to school by day and flying mechs by night is a bit silly and tired. And finally. Drop the love triangle stuff. I know this is the anniversary show..but come on..enough already.

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

These look good so far. Macross has always needed some sort of toy for the middle ground. Its either high end Yamatos or junky gashapon figures. Hopefully these will be 40.00-50.00..shipped -
MKV blu-ray rips of Macross Frontier and Macross Zero run pretty good on my e-machine lol hardly a pc powerhouse updating codecs helps. MPC player with ffdshow decoder made a big difference in performance. now if only the PS3 could run mkv files...that would save me so much time...

Try xvid4psp. http://www.winnydows.com/news.php scroll down for the latest version. you can convert MKV files with that program. It will take some trial and error though. I've converted MKV files to M2TS files for use on the PS3 with good results. Macross Frontier Blu-ray rips look great. If you have an mkv that doesn't have subs you can do a direct copy with xvid4psp. It will just copy the MKV into whatever format you want. No transcoding. and some more info. http://animeted.wordpress.com/2008/07/03/h...itles-embedded/

Macross, You & Days Before the Internet
bandit29 replied to Roy Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
My first exposure to anything Macross was Robotech of course(like alot of 80's kids) I came in from outside and saw this plane transform while crashing into a building etc.. the rest is history lol. The Comico comics were out then. Those were just awful, especially considering titles like The Dark Knight, Secret Wars, X-men etc. were around. They used to make fun of me at the comic store for buying them lol. And then after finding the truth about Robotech. I started collecting Macross toys, models and artbooks. Being in the midwest(Chicago), that stuff wasn't easy to find back then. Not like today with the internet. Then the early-mid 90's came. Macross Plus and II. Fansub VHS tapes of Macross DYRL? FB2012 and Macross 7 started hitting here. And then the internet takes off in the late 90's.. The overpriced 1/55 market begins...god I kill to have some of that money back lol I still dig Macross. I was pleasantly surprised with Macross Frontier -
Sorry to hear that man. I lost 2 pets in 3 weeks once. I hope your buddy recovers.

Wow that looks cool. The small removable parts is kind of a downer but this will have to do since I won't be buying the 1/60 version. -
Anyone play the PC version of this? The PS3 version is apparently due this week. Looks pretty awesome. Need another shooter besides Superstardust HD Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer
