Question:
In the past, before I got interested in Gundam models, I'd seen references to models that have light-up internal structures, and ones that have 'animated' GN-drives...
Anyone ever build these, or know of them?
Thanks!

That's like an insult to Astro Plan.

Are you kidding? They're birds of a feather. AstroPlan just happens to be more blatant...

-
It was Revell, and I always thought that rationale for using the title was weird. The Revell Robotech kits came primarily from Dougram, and out of the twenty or so model kits they released initially, only three were from Macross, none from Southern Cross or Mospeada (a couple of Mospeada kits -specifically Yellow's Ride Armor and Houquet's Legioss- surfaced around the same time as Gobots kits).
Which explains why, as a dumb kid, I was scratching my head, asking "Okay, where is Gartan, Thoren, or the rest of the Defenders in this cartoon?"

I wonder who they're gonna go after next... HP's Atlantech? Robelwell202's "Destroid's Last Dance" fanfic?
I don't know about HP's stuff. The impression I get is that she's content to do completely original stuff, leaving RT behind.
As for me, I'm working on shifting DLD over to Macross, where it truly belongs. Just gotta figure out all I have to do to get it done.
-
Maybe if they did a PG more often than once in a blue moon then they could get some done.
I don't see them doing a PG GM any time soon, though. But I would buy a PG RX-79[G] for danged sure.
You're not the only one. I'd LOVE one of those. Especially if it came in 1/60 scale or larger.

Not just that, but back around 2001-2002 Harmony Gold went back to Tatsunoko and acquired the merchandising rights to DYRL. Since Macross is pretty much the only part of Robotech that sells, and they've gone to so much trouble in their quest to keep Japanese Macross products out of the hands of American fans, it's highly unlikely that Harmony Gold would terminate their relationship with Tatsunoko. Of course, we could say the same solely on the basis that their future development plans for the Robotech animated series require the use of intellectual property from Genesis Climber Mospeada, which is owned by Tatsunoko.
Gotta take the good with the bad, huh?

Does that mean you're done with your fanfic? I never got to read it, but it sounded interesting enough.
Not at all. Quite the contrary.
I'm just working out the kinks to shift it over to a Macross story, as opposed to RT.

As Robelwell202 found out on his own, being a Robotech fan just isn't worth the trouble, grief, and drama. It's much easier, and frankly much more gratifying, to be a Macross purist.
At the risk of sounding like some vacant-minded born-again fool, I have to say that, in the time since I've dropped RT (Roughly two weeks ago), it's been a refreshing time.
I can only say that there's this feeling of losing a TON of unneccessary weight. I've been able to concentrate on a lot of interesting stuff, thanks to the vacancy left by the complete lack of RT-bullschwat.
YAY!

PM sent from me, too.

Yeah, but we are talking about HG here...
So very true.
HG started RT on the work of others, and while they keep telling their fans that 'That's no longer cannon', they have yet to purchase a brain, so they STILL need to use the work of others to make things happen.
-
The SDF-1 is 0.83 Macrosses... That's how big it is....
-
Well, obviously Macross Frontier sucks. In fact, anything with the Macross name sucks. I hate Macross. You should too.
Okay, Doug....
-
He's checked my profile here once at least twice this week. Maybe he's planning some kind of major offensive...?
Could be... He checked mine out just last night...
Wait a minute here... he's still relevant in any of this?Of course not... It's just strange, how some people think I'm such a major player in these things, when I've done everything I can to remove myself from the HG-drama.

boost in ratings? lol okay..
Personally, I think the guy's got a hell of a crush on me... Better tell his GF that she's out.
-
Oh, dear...
It seems that some people cannot let go of anything.
I got an e-mail from our good friend, Doug Bendo-ver, screaming about how I'm responsible for his sudden boost in ratings...
Now, seeing as I haven't been active in the RT fandom for a couple months, I gotta ask myself, 'Do I F***ING care?!?"
<Sigh> Some people obsess and spaz over anything...
-
Jeeze man,
Some folks has no sense of humor or soft skinned or completly ignorant of what Doug Bendu-du was upto lately and how he has slandered many Macross fans and Macross itself along with other Robotech fans.
So I edited the thread since no one has a sense of humor now a days.I just wanted to add funny to this "fan war"
By the way Kieth,I am half Native American and half British so I am not racist.
And you were doing so well, too...
This has nothing to do with 'Soft-skinned' or no sense of humor. It has to do with the fact that, aside from the forum rules, this kind of thing is just not neccessary. Leave the BS hate-mongering to the RT Lunatic Fringe. It doesn't belong here.

Uhh, MaverickLSC finally came out of his fox hole (or HG hole) and posted very nicely why he did what he did.I never seen such a double standard 2 faced online weirdo in a long time.Ha! Check out what he said after being called out
http://www.robotechx.com:80/forums/38-robo...start=120#10437
Some people contradict themselves.
SO he demeaned himself when he cried like a whimp when he banned Seto and then again by becoming a flame troll himself.
What makes me wonder is why do Memo and Maverick claim to be Macross fans but do everything in their powers to debunk Macross and Macross fans by trying to rub it in what HG uses DYRL? rights to make toys they can't design themselves.
Maverick and Memo are demeaning to themselves for believing that crap about Shadow Rising,RLAM and the endless bull that Kevin says "Things are happening"
I read that post on RTX, and all I can say about it is that I'm not surprised at all.
Mav's held a long-time reputation for being two-faced, and a back-stabber, besides. While he claims to be an 'impartial' moderator on RT.com, his modus-operandi is pretty clear to see. "What?!? You didn't like RT:TSC? You didn't think it was the most amazingly amazing thing to happen to Anime since those primitive Japanese started putting ink to paper?!? BLASPHEMER!!! You get the Ban-Hammer!"
Or, on a slightly different tangent...
"WHAT?!? You sit there and use FACTS to support your claim that HG can't do anything with Macross designs, except market them??? HOW DARE YOU!!! You hurt my feelings, and there's gotta be more people who've had thier feelings hurt, so here's the ban-hammer, aimed right at you!"
Utterly predictable, and completely transparent.
What a joke.

Either that or, as was mentioned earlier, they're a homage to the head-mounted 60mm vulcan guns on the RX-78-2 and RGM-79 in Mobile Suit Gundam.
I've always held the idea that the Tomahawk was a general-purpose attack mecha.
First, from what information I've been able to gather, the MBR-04 Mk.6 was, essentially, the first mecha slated for mass production, since the VF-series fighters were taking longer to develop. In addition, it's been stated many times that the powers-that-be weren't exactly sure WHAT they'd be fighting when the Macross was rebuilt, but they got the general idea that the adversaries in question would be big... damn big. With that in mind, I go on to the next point.
Second, the assortment of weapons deployed on the Tomahawk appear to be a collection intended to serve in many roles. Now, keeping in mind that the hypothetical enemy threat wsn't very well defined, it would make sense to slap as many different guns on a platform as they could. I mean, in a real-world example could be drawn from the M1 Abrams, which sports several machine guns, in addition to the 120mm Main gun.
That's just my take on it, though. The MGs may have been worthless, but then again, we'd do well to think that a Tomahawk or two could quell a food riot quite easily.

What the heck is icinic?
WHOOPS!!!
Fixed.

It seems that folks are forgetting the work Hamill did on the Wing Commander game series. Not quite the idealistic Luke Skywalker role we're used to, but for a video game series, it wasn't half-bad work.
Seto Kaiba
Best... Joker... Ever. Or at least, the one most true to the comic books, but a good portion of that credit also goes to the writers.Down, you heretic! Why do you denounce the iconic Heath Ledger performance?

-
That would be interesting to see. I look forward to it.

You guys have to admit, the kit is NOT that bad.
Uhhh... Yeah, it is.

Here's what I want to know; a fan project that people have been working on and which the trademark holders never paid attention to for years suddenly gets into legal trouble and given a C&D out of nowhere? If HG was going to do this anyway, why did they let work on this go on for so long? They were in constant communication with the fandom for years and they could have done something years in advance. I guess I'm asking what changed between then and now to change their minds? Because it got advertised on rtx.com?
HG does not deserve the love and passion these people definitely had for the franchise they made and call their own.
It's quite simple, really...
HG let progress on this thing go on as long as they could, issued te C&D order, then started taking the ideas of the project and began figuring out a way to make these ideas their own.
It saves them from embarrassment, and it saves them the trouble of coming up with something on theirown.

The McKeever/MaverickLSC translation of the above sentence would be:
"It's still locked up in pre-production. I can't say anything about it, but it's deffinitely going forward!" -K. McKeever
